Considering hundreds of A-listers—from Miley Cyrus to Beyoncé—have sworn off meat for a 100-percent plant-based diet, you’ll be hard-pressed to not find at least a handful of vegan celebrities on your Instagram feed. I’m back from New Orleans AKA Nola and it feels so good…especially in the month of Halloween my fav’ time of year! The city was all decked out in bewitching hues and decor. Halloween in New Orleans is awesome. I wanted to go on a Ghost or Cemetary tour but ran out of time this trip.
I worked and played. And as always want to take you there! Even if you’ve been or never been there. Here are a few highlights of my adventures.
Cafe du Monde was at the top of my gotta go back and eat a beignet and have that famous New Orleans coffee. So,after checking into the hotel I devoured a few and walked the streets too.
The smell of Pralines fills the streets and air with sweetness. You have to try one! This trip I discovered some new ones in Cafe au lait and Bananas Foster flavors. So delightful!
I haven’t been there for a few years and needed to reacquaint myself with the city. My have things grown and some things have stayed the same! If only those building and sidewalks could talk to us. What would they say? Lots I am sure.
The weather was super humid and hot for October… I did not glisten like most southern women say they do. I sweat as usual! No powder or makeup setting spray saved my face. However, the last few days the weather turned into fall like. SO….Heavenly!
Since I love food, beauty, fashion and I love to explore…here is list of the best to see!
Acme Oyster Bar has the freshest and delicious oysters. If you don’t mind waiting in lines this is a great place. Not fancy and pricey.
Monteleone Hotel my fav’ hotel in the city and is an elegant charming place. It is located in the French Quarter downtown.
Carousel Bar is inside the hotel above. It is an actual OLD carousel and it moves and so do you every 15 minutes. You gotta see this place and feel it to believe it.Drinks are delicious and appetizers too.Not your normal bar food.
Feeling lucky! In the mood to gamble? Visit Harrah’s Casino.
Irene’s is an Italian eatery with a New Orleans twist. Dinner was amazing and the pasta is made fresh daily.
Papier Plume if you are into all things stationery,REAL pens, journals and wax seals this is the place for you.
Trashy Diva is a clothing store that for the name alone you need to pop in.
Perfume there are two old world perfume shops rich in history and have signature fragrances too I will share more on this in my next blog.
Fifi Mahoney’s is where you’ll find makeup, glitter, wigs and more! They are the company behind some of the faces on floats for Mardi Gras.
New Orleans COOKING school I’ve taken a cooking class with a Cajun twist before. It never disappoints. If you’re a foodie like me…you’d love these classes.
Steamboat Natchez cruise is always a good idea!It is an old time steam boat that takes you around the Mississippi River.
The French Market is located in the Jackson Square area and is filled with shops and pop up vendors from all over the world. You can find art, fashion, old time lace umbrellas, artisan candles and soaps, voodoo dolls and so much more.
I love worshipping and visiting church and the the Cathedral Basilica of St. Louis King of France is a beauty you don’t want to miss.
Did you know New Orleans has Voodoo shops,Witchery shops and Vampire shops? Worth exploring.
Window Shopping is the BEST shopping. Since may last trip so many new places have opened.
Fun fact…the second day I was there. I was eating a snow ball ice in the French Market and while sitting on a bench I noticed a float and a police car blocking the street. I ate and kept there waiting to see what might be happening. After ten minutes I was curious what this was all about. So,I walked across the street and who did I bump into on the sidewalk but Katy Perry all dolled up in an adorable so New Orleans fun feather dress. Next, I see Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie. The float I now noticed had the logo of American Idol on it. So, what was about to go down was a marching band, people in costumes and a float they shot for TV to welcome the tryouts for American idol at the convention center.
It was so fun. They were so fun! They threw Mardi Gras beads to all of us and we were part of the party. They invited us to follow the float down the streets of Nola but I chose not to. This was such an unexpected treat to my trip! I wish you could hear this video!
You never know who or what you will find in this city. My business went well and my belly was content. I continue to encourage you to explore beyond your front door.
Till my next adventure …have a beauty filled day.
Pictures to come. I have been up to my lips with work since I returned. Tonight I am a guest on a panel for Fashion Group International in NE Florida. So, I have to prep for that.
This morning I woke up craving NOT coffee but chocolate! I love to play in the kitchen.
Did you know that Cacao nibs are a natural way to get a chocolate fix?
2 cups of coconut milk (from the milk section)
1 teaspoon of cocoa powder
1 frozen banana
sprinkle of Chia seeds (Cause it wouldn’t hurt to add them)
sprinkle of cocoa nibs to taste
a drizzle of organic honey
Blend in a blender and you have a sweet sensation that’s not too sweet.
A quick chocolate CRAVING fix!
*Oh and for a shot for my skin I added a spoonful of NeoCell Super Collagen powder…for hair, skin nails, bones, joints and more! To get my glow on and to be a Glow Getter.
I love Las Vegas. It is a beautiful and fun city. And the best part like New York it has so much FREE eye candy for you to enjoy. You don’t have to spend all your time on the Strip either!
My last post I told you I was going there to guest speak at the International Esthetics Cosmetics and Spa conference. This year the show was better than ever!Alongside the show is a full pavilion called the International Beauty Show. Both are shows if you are in the business of beauty and a licensed beauty professional you do not want to miss. This year we got an extra bonus…The Comic Con show was there. I saw all kinds of characters. From devils to Winnie the Poo to sexy sirens. In 113 to 117 degrees I admired the passion for the world of comic books.
Trends come and go but the biggest trend I continue to see and grow is the look of healthy skin and the care of the skin.I tried all kinds of lotions, potions, hydrated by a new sheet mask by the ever popular Image Skincare and skin feeling softer and loved. The ever popular Savvy Sleepers pillowcase rocks your skin with anti-aging smooth benefits. Protects your skin from more wrinkles and saves your hair and extends expensive blowouts all while you sleep. Especially from the aromatherapy spa product aisle. The smell of lavender, peppermint and more filled the show floor.
Another trend that continues to rise is COLOR.It was everywhere on the faces of makeup artists in my classes and on the show floor and at makeup booths. HAIR was colorful too. I saw all the colors of the rainbow kinda hair. It was AMAZING. My fave’ were the luscious world of lipsticks and glosses. Aqua, pink, coral, yellow, purple lipsticks are so on trend and sure to make you happy hues.Let’s not forget that nail polish continues to be in all shades to tempt you. I LOVE the fact that our world has become so color filled. Remember when our beauty world only offered safe colors like soft pink, pearly white and beige. How about when our blow dryers only came in boring gray? Well no more.
My classrooms were filled with eager to learn beauty professionals, spa and salon owners.I love what I do and travel too. After the show I was STARVING and needed to hydrate up and had to stop to my fave place for a for a burger and fries. Smothered in yum and made in the kitchen with LOVE. And a sip one of their shakes…Pink Strawberry. You know how I love pink!
I like to venture away from the strip where the locals who live there go. Not all your meals have to be in swanky expensive I enjoyed the ever fabulous In and Out Burger where I ordered off their secret menu…ANIMAL style Fries ( see photo)
I also enjoyed exotic meals from Orchids Garden where they serve ALL DAY Dim Sum! If you haven’t had is Chinese Brunch. The food is so fresh and the staff there is so friendly. Save some room as you might also want to try the coconut bun which is dessert that is perfect with a hot cup of jasmine or green tea.
Who doesn’t LOVE to shop? While I like the SHOPPING on the strip I also like to head to PRIMM at the outlet mall. They have some fabulous shops like Tommy Bahama,Charlotte Rousse,Coach and more.
ALL at fabulous DISCOUNT $$$$$$ prices …You won’t find on the strip.
I bought some Tommy Bahama tops and bathing suit for my husband. Gorgeous bracelets for me,sandals, perfume and a few LV souvenir gifts all for $197.00
So, I hope you enjoyed a peek inside my classrooms, the beauty and the hair shows and see what’s on trend. If you haven’t been to Las Vegas add it to your list!
Travel and explore my darlings and eat up all that life has to offer!!!
In Florida we went from a mild winter, to maybe 4 days of Spring and NOW summer and it isn’t not even summer! As a Northerner who moved to Florida for her southern husband I hate it. I know I should be grateful for palm trees and sunshine but the heat SUCKS!
Here is a recipe I found from InStyle magazine that I think is pretty cool in more ways than one.
I love this recipe!
1 cup of room-temperature water.
2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
1 tablespoon of Agave nectar
1/8 teaspoon of cayenne pepper
Place all in a glass. Stir and enjoy!
And it makes you pee lots because it is hydrating, cooling and eliminating!
The beauty of this recipe is it is Aussie super-model Elle Macpherson’s lemonade drink recipe and we know how fabulous her body is along with those LONG lovely legs.
No wonder she has been on the cover of Sports Illustrated five times! Drink up and refresh yourselves!
Here is a low calorie delight recipe I found from one of LA’s chef’s.Celebrities so LOVE this shake! You will too.
I am kinda addicted.

My first collection was all Chinese beauty products filled in a Take-Out Box and we can’t keep it on our pretty shelves. Our latest venture this year is filled with Korean face masks, hand and body lotion and more!
These past few months have been spent testing, spraying, rubbing, sniffing and ENJOYING all things Korea and more.Today I will be testing some face masks and body products.
My fascination with these beauty products stems from my being an all American girl whose parents happen to be Polish and Chinese. I know what a combination platter am I! The strange part was when I was growing up I wanted to buy Revlon and Avon.I did not appreciate the history and culture of my background.
I am picky what goes into our Lucky Cookie beauty box!

I’m serious about and appreciate and good cup of coffee.
And my passion for desert flavors is real too. So I simply had to bring to your attention the new limited edition flavors of Nespresso.
Think Banana bread,Pumpkin Spice Cake and Gingerbread…all yum on the tongue. These are the new coffee capsules the company added to the already finest bean coffee’s they make. My lips just can’t resist.
I am in love with this top of the line brand. The Vertuoline Evolou machine brews the best cup of coffee I ever had. Really! And the unique centrifusion technology makes it buzz with delight. This one cup delight brews a mean aromatic cup of coffee in approx 20 something seconds. It is EASY to use…and comes out FAST,FRESH and FABULOUS!
And the cherry on top is the cafe like quality on top which is called crema…a generous frothy layer of love. I don’t use sugar because I am sweet enough and quite frankly I like the taste of it without it. The coffee machine also makes a delightful cup of espresso. Just like I have enjoyed in Italia.
So you know what to do…if you are looking for the perfect gift for HIM,for her or for yourself. This is so worth it.
You gotta trust me on this. And of course actors George Clooney and Danny Di Vito will say that too.We foodies have to stick together.
Try it …you’ll LOVE it.
