1 1/2 cups of unfiltered apple juice

1 medium raw beet,chopped,steamed or baked (if using a conventiocal blender)

1 medium carrot,chopped,steamed or grated (if using a conventional blender)

2 medium lemons,peeled and seeded

1 cup loosely packed chard leaves

1 teaspoon minced ginger

1 cup of frozen mango

Throw all of the ingredients(except the frozen mango) into your blender and blast on high for about 1 minute,until well combined. Add the frozen mango and balst ffor 10 to 20 seconds more,until smooth and creamy.

 

This vegetable-packed blend is surprisingly delicious according to Tess the author.She recommends you definitely add the mint.The betatine in beets flushes the liver,purifies the blood, and enhances circulation;carrots boost the liver’s anti-oxidant capacity and the lemons improve liver function. Chard provides syringic acid,a flavonoid that prevenst liver degeneration,and mango and ginger have liver-protecting properties,too.

 

I read if we partake of libations it is tough on the liver…so since I enjoy a glass of wine with my dinner meal…I tought this recipe for me is ideal. I have played with this recipe and added other ingredients. BUT I prefer HER recipe the best!

Where did the week go? I don’t want a another minute to go by without mentioning this.

This week on TV I shared some natural and organic tips on being kind to your feet.

The one and only Hot Lips Houlihan! Actress Loretta Swit.

We chatted Polish yes she is Polish like I am and we chatted beauty,food and health. It was a cozy quick chat before she was interviewed on The Chat TV show on NBC12 and ABC25.

Her secret to a beautiful healthy life is being a Vegan.She also shared she uses Dr.Perricone MD skin care line. I was tickled pink to meet her! As readers of my blog you know my mom was a big fan of hers and that TV show. Loretta Swit is town in Florida for an event she is doing for her love of animals. St. Augustine Florida is where it will be this weekend. She was a lovely lady.

D.I.Y. Pore Glow and Facial Steam

THIS really works at getting your skin going and glowing.

I love my oh so feather light weight VIOlife personal humidifier! It really makes the dry air moist (Dry air sucks moisture from our skin) and it makes my skin LOOK and feel amazing after a good nights sleep and it on in my bedroom. It is eco-friendly as it uses a bottle of water (like you drink) or fill the bottle that it comes with and refill it again and again.Simply plug it in and you are good to go. You can also use this humidifier at your office desk or in your living room too.

Another skin energizing idea …

I also LOVE to do a facial steam bath for my pores.In this brutal long winter weather unless you are an avid jogger or workout at the gym…You really don’t work up a sweat. This steam bath that you can do at home like the spas do with their expensive professional equipment is cheap,chic and you feel so clean afterwards.

What you will need:

A pot of hot water (like you are making pasta)

1 bunch of rosemary,dried roses or fresh mint

Boil the fresh water on the stove top and place the flowers or herbs inside then turn pot off.

Next, place a soft thin towel (I use a kitchen tea towel) and place it over your head. Form like a veil on your head and over your face. Lean your face towards (NOT INTO) this steamy water brew.let the steam hit your face.

You will notice your skin will start to work up a sweat and your skin will start to get dewy. This is a GREAT sign.

Remember you are doing a facial STEAM bath. NOT anything more. You can do this approx. 5-8 minutes.
