Tips You Need To Know… before you ✈️ fly!

I have been back at it and traveling for work and it is truly a new trying frontier. If you haven’t flown lately, since the pandemic or ever here are some things to expect … maybe!

Recently my flight got cancelled while I was still in the air traveling from Las Vegas to Atlanta. I did not learn of this news until I was able to turn my iphone as we landed and headed toward the gate. WOW! I was NOT ready for that. Atlanta to Jacksonville Fl is a quick 30-45 minute flight and the sun 🌞 was shining and the skies were the most gorgeous shade of blue!

My husband and I had no luggage,no toiletries,no fresh clothes and no night clothes to go to sleep in.

I usually travel on board with a just in case kit but accidentally packed it in my luggage. We were so not ready for this news but tried to go with the flow. When we walked over to the the ticket counter for Delta there were many others in our shoes so we felt a bit better.

Come to find out we had NO PILOT and no flight crew to take us to Jacksonville Fl that is why our flight was cancelled not due to weather or airplane troubles. You hear and see scenarios on the news BUT when it happens to YOU …is another story. I felt so lost even though I knew it would happen eventually.

Here are some stress relieving ideas for taking on board the plane with you.Create a compact bag for each of you filled with the “Bare Necessities” you may need.

Think small sizes!

Only decide what you really really WANT and need. PSP

For the MEN:

A bag of  travel sized  shave cream, a razor, toothbrush, toothpaste. A shirt for the next day and a fresh pair of underwear.

For the Women:

A bag filled with makeup remover towelettes, moisturizer and your favorite  makeup items. Keep it simple. A tinted moisturizer OR choose a double-duty beauty like powder compact to even out skin tone and tone down shine.Lipstick can be used as blush in a pinch. Eyeliner to define the eyes in place of  a tube of mascara. A nightgown or nightshirt, and a fresh pair of underwear.

Have children with you? YOU know best on what to pack for them and amuse them too.

Travel size toiletries and more you both can share:

Deodorant,a unisex fragrance, package of Q-TIPS,tissues,small hairbrush and comb, hand and body lotion. Usually the hotel supplies shampoo and conditioner.

Bring your RX prescriptions on the plane. Pack something for upset stomach, headaches and anything else you use. An eye mask or a roll on essential oil to keep calm.

Pack a lightweight empty bottle for water for yourselves that you can refill at the airport and save money and keep hydrated.

SNACKS are a must! I have learned to pack a combination of healthy and yummy options.Think comfort food.

MINI bags of dried fruit like cranberries,an apple, small cookies, crackers, gummy bears, potato chips, chocolate bars, gum, mints. Pack a bit of what you love!

Bringing a book or two or some magazines is ALWAYS a good idea.

All of the above are just in case your flight is cancelled and you may have to  stay at a hotel overnight. Please note you don’t know what the hotel may have in the way of toiletries in the room. So, its best to pack your own. OR your plane does not take off in a timely manner and you are stuck on the plane as that can happen too. Most times they serve no drinks or snacks while you wait.  These days you never know.

Getting away for an overnight this Labor day  weekend  or making it a long weekend. Be prepared…it will make your life so much easier.

I hope you do have a safe and fabulous flight and get where you want to go.

Snacks and an empty water bottle are a good idea too. I love to pack a combination of healthy and yummy options. Comfort food. Dried fruits, cookies, gummy bears, mini chocolate bars, cheese crackers or peanut butter crackers. All of these JUST IN CASE. Cause these days you never know.

Getting away for an over night trip or a long Labor Day weekend. Be prepared. It makes life so much easier!

PS

Don’t forget when you go from your hotel that the airline may put you up in you will have to go through Security AGAIN when you enter the airport for your new flight.

Vacay or mini travel tips you need!

Who doesn’t love to travel?

I have always loved to travel. I got the “travel bug” when I lived in the tri-state area. I always heard the sound of airplanes. Manhattan has a lot of tourists arriving and landing and departing! JFK airport has many global flights too!

It is a beautiful sight and as I grew up I loved that sound of the airplanes more and more.

So happy to be traveling again! It’s been a long time by one and a half years for me. How about you?

Here are a few of my personal tips I have cultivated through the years and now with the pandemic not over what to expect.

Choosing a window seat is lovely but can ruin your skin over time. SUN SHINE 🌞 at sunrise, afternoon or sunset is damaging to the skin over time. By the way, I love the window too. And if you pee a lot you need to make sure you choose an aisle seat to make it easy for you to get in and out!

Don’t forget your sunscreen. Even under face masks the sun can get you! Apply sunscreen to your hands (especially the tops) and don’t forget your neck too!

Stay hydrated I can’t say it enough. BEFORE you leave your house, at airport and on your flight keep the water coming. Skip the caffeine especially if you’re anxious about flying it will only make you even more jittery.

Please note:

Airport and other places you go water 💧 fountains are covered and off limits due to Covid19 and refill water stations are closed off too. So if you’re used to bringing your own water or beverage container bottle with you. You will not be able to fill it with H2O.

Pack disinfecting wipes too! For each of you traveling. You will need to double check and clean your surroundings. The airplanes are very clean but you can ever be too careful or clean. On my Delta flights they hand you a disinfecting wipe packet when you get on board.

Mask 😷 up!

I like to sprinkle some essential oil on my disposable mask or cloth mask with lips 👄depending on my mood. Most times I use lavender oil and I love ❤️ the Aura Cacia brand. It’s great quality and simply the best!

You MUST wear your face mask and keep your nose 👃 covered at the airport and on the plane ride and while switching planes. They are very strict to keep everyone safe.

Pack a chamomile tea bag in your tote or your handbag.

Bigelow Tea Co makes an awesome one with stress relieving chamomile and calming lavender.sometimes when you order tea there isn’t any chamomile tea available. So order a cup of hot water and take the tea bag (for another time) they are serving and just use the water 💦 and make a cup of chamomile tea.

Travel with your favorite snacks. YOUR comfort food. Mine are bananas, apples, tangerines and anything crunchy, M&M chocolate candies or Hershey’s chocolate 🍫 or and HARD candies or gum.

These will not only comfort you they hydrate your throat which can get dry while flying with a mask on especially.

Another calming treat is to pack a CBD tincture or CBD gummies to balance your mood if you’d like. They really come in handy. I love Martha Stewart’s collection of edibles.

I hope these tips bring comfort to you and help you on your next flight too.

Happy summer!

Planning a Trip?

IMG_2879.JPGTis’ the season to vacation and or maybe just a getaway even if it is just for a weekend.

As I fly for business and pleasure often I have learned a lot through the years.

The number one thing is to make a list on what you want to pack and what you want to take. I like to make a list. Then I start pack what I need and buy what I do need. Some tings I remove after packing some things stay. Pack according to the trip you are taking. A two day beach getaway is different than a trip to Europe for 2 weeks.

Lighten Up!

  • Travel with smaller sizes or kits. If you like the IMAGE brand and are a fan of their facial treatments you’ll love to know they have travel kits. Sunscreen included!
  • Or you can buy small containers and fill them with what you want to take. Examples: sunscreen, foundation, moisturizer, hair spray and more.
  • Pack things in smaller zip lock bags of various sizes. NAIL POLISH and some other liquids will open and spread all over the place like on your clothes so keep them contained.Personally, I pack a back up bottle of nail polish (in case my nails chip and need  a touch up) in my purse NOT in my luggage. I take it on the plane zip lock bag that has any liquids I want to take.

I’ve even had this happen to me when traveling in the car. Keep nail polish and liquid foundation upright and in a sealed plastic bag.

  • Choose a color theme for your makeup wardrobe. Don’t bring ALL THE MAKEUP you own and think you have to have with you. Examples: pinks and plums, nudes and bronze and so on.Don’t take every makeup brush you own either.Keep it simple.
  • Pack a mini FIRST-AID kit and more filled with aspirin,band-aides,Tums,nail file, mini clippers, toothpicks and sewing kit. YOU decide what you want and may need.Don’t pack your medicine in your luggage you check in. Take it with you on the plane.
  • Bring snacks for the plane. You never know how long you may sit on the runway. Cheese and crackers, bananas, nuts, gummy bears or mini chocolate bars. I’ve been waiting for take off for up to 3 hours and had no food or drink. Until you are up,up and away you need to have something to snack on.
  • I like to travel with an empty bottle of water. I fill this when I get in the airport after security or when switching airplanes. I use the fountain with filtered drinking water next to the water fountains usually depending on the airport you are at. Water bottles are expensive and you can pay up to $4.00 a bottle. This bottle comes in quite handy.
  • Pack your medicine and beauty supplements wisely. No need to take the RX bottles with you. (label the contents in the pill pack.)
  • Bring a scarf to wrap around you if you are cold on the plane. They don’t have blankets for everyone unless you are in first class.
  • Down size to a smaller handbag. That big Birken bag or other purse may be nice but by taking a smaller bag you will travel lighter and love not having to carry so much with you!

Airline travel broke your compacts? Here’s my D.I.Y. Rescue

D.I.Y.POWDER .photo

Sometimes it happens your favorite blush, bronzer or powder compact gets damaged in tons of tiny pieces when your luggage gets tossed around in travel.

Never fear don’t throw it out my dear!

Be eco chic, reuse, recycle and make it new again.

1.Take all the tiny pieces and powder and place in a baggie.
2.Now, find one around your house or buy a mini jar preferably with a sifter.
3.Fill the jar with the crumbled pieces and powder and shake the baggie back and forth.
4.Mixed and you’re good to go!
5.Apply the product with a powder brush or blush brush.

See D.I.Y. can be fun and saving money feels fabulous doesn’t it?
