It’s the MOST craziest time of the year!

Wow! I never expected the last few weeks to be filled with so much adventure! NO comfort and joy for me. I know I’ve been MIA … it’s so unlike me!

But I wanted to fill you in on why I have not been blogging. I’ve been traveling for work. Puerto Rico, Santa Barbara, LA and beautiful Palm Beach. I love traveling and exploring wether it’s work or play. Airplanes are my happy 😊 place!

First there was a late in the season hurricane in 🌴 Florida.

Then while that was brewing I got sick with an upper respiratory infection. Thank goodness no flu or Covid.

Next I got attacked by three angry 🐝 wasps! Three different times!!! While minding my own business. It was bad.

All with Shop Small Saturday events at my studio and my Holiday Open House 🏡 weekend for my beauty cottage. Needless to say… I’m exhausted from all of this and the steroids I had to take too.

But I wanted you to know I have not forgotten about you and my blog too.

LAST Saturday was the annual Shop Small Biz Saturday. Started by American Express to shine a light on small businesses. What a beautiful gesture and cause to start to do for small businesses.

So I hope you will think SMALL brands and go shopping 🛍 in your community wherever you live. Eat 🍱 and sip ☕️ 🍷 local too! Not just one day last Saturday but all season long. Small businesses can’t make it without you!

Sunnies,Vitamin SEA and Me!

I have just come back from a much needed early winter getaway!

When I arrived the palm tree lined streets home of Ringling Brothers (yes, the circus creator) I knew I was headed  to some place special!!!

Yes I live in Florida now. But I live closer to Atlanta and now was clear across the state.When I got to the sunny resorts door  I smelled a scent I recognized but was not sure of.  I got to my room and jumped for joy! I went to open the  curtain to the balcony I discovered I was just steps from the ocean. Finally, it dawned on me I work so hard and spend lots of time in my makeup studio,TV and at airports …I didn’t realize that scent was the beautiful salty ocean air! Oh how I EMBRACED and gave in to that awesome air.

 

A Tropical drink is ALWAYS a good idea. Even if it isn’t filled with alcohol. But this one was a tease of it on my tongue. Just what I needed.

A heart healthy walk and an exfoliating facial for my feet and soles was next. My feet and calve muscles loved me too!

I rinsed my hair in the sunlight and salt water detoxing my hair of any oil and product buildup. And although I did NOT sunbathe at practice what I preach…I managed to get a little kiss of color and VITAMIN SEA.

I loved the hotel balcony I hated to leave it.I shopped and window shopped,dined in some yummy places and had an amazzzing relaxing time. UNTIL my iphone had plans for me!

It died  … I mean really died totally black screen would not fire up! For days!

I hated being less than 8 hours there and no phone. No connection to my beauty business. No blog posts,no social media. It was so STRANGE!  I hated the feeling of being so attached with my phone and all of it’s trappings.

Long story short. I had to drive to get it checked  on and perhaps get a replacement. I have only had the phone a few months. But did you know if you live out of town you cannot and they will not just give you a replacement from the Apple store? You have to go back home to where you bought it and work on getting it checked and perhaps a replacement there. Oh and it takes another week to get a new phone replacement. The diagnostics said my phone was from a bad batch that was recalled. But I was not informed. Quite a phone adventure I did not plan for.

Perhaps my phone was trying to tell me something along with the salty sea kissed air. SLOW DOWN…enjoy the beauty that surrounds you. Unplug. What do you think?

Survived that Bitch Hurricane Irma!

OH WHAT A WEEK!

I just got back electricity Thursday night and had lost electricity Sunday when the hurricane  hadn’t even arrived! I was petrified all the way while my southern husband was taking it calmly. Flooding all around us. The palm trees swayed like rubber bands in the wind.

You can imagine how SEXY and all dolled up I was looking and smelling even with cold showers. It was rough!!!

It was probably one of the worst ones I have ever endured and it didn’t end well. While  I am grateful to be alive,in good shape and we still have a roof over our heads and my sweet beauty cottage survived!

Hurricanes are exhausting and the stress shows on your body and remains on your face.

Please CONTINUE to Pray for Florida and the other places hit by the storm….we need it.My friends and some clients STILL DON’T HAVE power or means to take a warm bath or shower.Gas was a problem and so was food but slowly people were able to open their small and large businesses.

What I also realize is I continue to be one tough cookie and  with a luscious lipstick I can conquer all!

 

Passion for Fashion and more!

Recently I had the honor of being on a panel for  The Fashion Group International.

I love working with them and being on a panel too.

This organization was started by some iconic women. Founded in 1930 as the non-profit,fashion organization established for women,the The Fashion Group International today offers membership to men and women alike.Among the founding members were Eleanor Roosevelt,Elizabeth Arden,Lily Dache, Edna Woolman Chase,Edith Head,Claire McCardell,Virginia Pope and Carmel Snow. Legendary figures who left an incredible print on the American landscape. Names and people I admire and worth Googling to learn more about these women.

FGI’S mission is to be the preeminent authority on the business of fashion and design,and to help its members become more effective in their professional lives.

FGI is a global non-profit organization of dynamic professionals in all areas of design,apparel,accessories,home and of course my passion….beauty!

NEXT Saturday the 28th is a movement started by American Express in 2010. And Fed Ex is a part of the printing and delivering our tools to celebrate in our small businesses. It is a beautiful day and way for business owners to show themselves and their shops off!

Colorado High!

I recently enjoyed an escape to a beautiful place I have not been to in awhile. My! Other than food and shopping growth it hasn’t changed. It is still as beautiful and the air is crisp healthy and clear. As I’ve mentioned before…
Explore beyond your door when possible.I love to combine business with pleasure and stay an extra day in a state or city.
It truly does wonders for you,your health,mind and body too.

International Beauty Show will take over Las Vegas!

Stylists,makeup artists,nail techs,estheticians and beauty business owners from all over the world will flock to the ever popular International Beauty Show AND the International Esthetics Cosmetics & Spa Conference.

I’ll be BEAUTY reporting from there and sharing with you ALL THAT I SEE. It’s going to be a bumpy exciting out of the park ride! Hair beauty shows are not like peaceful spa shows. They have a mood and vibe all of their own. If you watch the Bravo Network and have seen some unique hair and makeup Pro’s THEY will most likely be there.Some of them wear just as much makeup as you and I do. and their men! If I bump into any characters you need to know about I’ll TWEET OUT photo’s and comments to you.Last year I bumped into Dwight from the Real Housewives of Atlanta. I hope to see Teresa Giudice from Real Housewives of New Jersey she recently launched a line of hair care named after one of her daughters.

I’ll be guest speaking at the spa show this year and reporting LIVE from both shows.

The Beauty of Diane Von Furstenberg

Counting down to Fashion Group International’s event to show fashion,design and beauty pro’s the Fall/Winter 2013 color and fashion trend presentation forecast in the one and only New York City.I also look forward to meeting and seeing the faces behind the names of fashion and beauty editors and a fashion blogger.

A woman I continue to admire and worked for in NYC is moderating the event. Diane Von Furstenberg… I truly can’t wait to see and hear her.She is a smart,sexy,charismatic and above all fashionable woman who taught me so much about life and business including her original mantra “Feel like a woman wear a dress.” That mantra stuck with me for years and I am so glad it did. She is so right it does make a difference wearing dresses and skirts versus pants and pant suits.

I own many of her infamous wrap dresses,cosmetic bags,scarves,purses,rain coats and blouses.I even have lipsticks and perfumes from her cosmetic and fragrance launch. Diane is a fashion icon and does more than design clothes!
