De-tubing your luscious Lipsticks!

LIP MOTEL

I think some people call it depotting I call it de-tubing as we are taking remains from a lipstick tube and placing them into a container like a plastic pill box  (We makeup artists have done this for a long time and it was our beauty secret on set) But as the beauty world continues to grow and explode we now have all kinds of containers to place them in like the one above!

Why do you want to detube? Well if your fav’ lipstick is:

  • Discontinued and you want to savour the last lipstick drop?
  • Melted
  • Broke
  • Got smooshed in the cap because you forgot to roll it down all the way before capping.

12 spaces hold your discontinued, tired, oldie but goodie, melted and broken  lipsticks. Or you can actually scoop out a brand new lipstick into an empty container like this.

Step.1 Buy a container or pill pack

Step 2. Get a mini cocktail knife, mini spatula or artists palette ready and at hand.

Step 3.Line up the lipsticks you want to fill the kit with

Step 4. Wash your hands with soap and warm water or put plastic gloves on.It can get messy and you want to keep it clean and sanitary too.

Step 5.Scoop out or cut slices of your lipstick into the empty container or pill box.

Step 6. Press and pat down with your fingers or spatula each color filled space you fill.

Step 7. Place a piece of saran wrap on top and pat down some more on the saran wrap.

Step 8. Optional:Take a cheap blow dryer (not high watt) and blow across the top of the kit moving quickly and across once. This sets your lipsticks in the Lip Motel.

Remember…you don’t have to fill them all at once. A few at a time is fine.

You are all set and ready to mix and match the hues with your lip brush. The best and most fun part?

You can make NEW lipstick shades out of all these bits and pieces.

Optional Tip:

I like to FREEZE my kit in the freezer for approximately 1/2 hour or more if you’d like. Doing this will firm the lipsticks up and harden them up a bit.

*HAPPY to say my Lip Motel was featured in Jacksonville magazine July issue!

Chocolate Fix

Cocoa nibs blog photoThis morning I woke up craving NOT coffee but chocolate! I love to play in the kitchen.

Did you know that Cacao nibs are a natural way to get a chocolate fix?

2 cups of coconut milk (from the milk section)

1 teaspoon of cocoa powder

1  frozen banana

sprinkle of Chia seeds (Cause it wouldn’t hurt to add them)

sprinkle of cocoa nibs to taste

a drizzle of organic honey

Blend in a blender and you have a sweet sensation that’s not too sweet.

A quick chocolate CRAVING fix!

*Oh and for a shot for my skin I added a spoonful of  NeoCell Super Collagen powder…for hair, skin nails, bones, joints and more! To get my glow on and to be a Glow Getter.

Schools Out! What can you do with…

Barbie…Your daughter or granddaughters?

Summer is still here and your daughters and grand daughters are still out of school.

Here are a few fun things to do with them this summer!

Today I shared on TV what you can do and how much fun it can be!

  • Bonding time:Do a little makeup at home day. Show them how to apply a little lipstick or gloss,a blush, nail polish and or a bit of glitter. A little goes a long way.
  • Show them how to take care of their hair or braid the hair …Barbie Hair conditioner for detangling works wonders!
  • Teach them that SUNSCREEN is a best kept beauty secret! Protecting their face and body from the sun is very important.Use dolls as demo’s.
  • Enjoy making or serving yummy refreshments like fruit infused water, pretty pink lemonade, candy,Pez and or yummy  pink cupcakes.Make it like a beauty party!
  • Another fun idea is:To show them how they can write a story book and they are the main character. All they need is an empty unlined notebook and some markers  or crayons. Encourage them to be creative.
  • Princess Patch Parties is  a local company if you’re lucky enough to live in Jacksonville Florida in the Murray Hill section of town that offers birthday and mini spa parties with facials and a little mani & pedi outing. Pink and frilly place where glitter rules! www.princesspatchgirlsspa.com
  • Lip gloss D.I.Y. with you and or their friends with a MINI bar of Hershey’s chocolate or some crushed up candy mixed with a  dash of OrganIc coconut oil from Whole Foods Market. You will need to assist children with this in the microwave for a few minutes. What you’ll have is a shiny, lip softening lip gloss. No it won’t last you’ll watch them lick it off and laugh the afternoon away.
  • I will share these ideas and more on the video from the segment. JUST A CLICK AWAY! http://www.firstcoastnews.com on The Chat
  •  ENJOY watching and hope you will try some of my outside the box ideas!

Give Your Man Some LOVE!

It is almost that time to celebrate DAD…And with that comes the pressure to buy that perfect gift! Just remember it isn’t all about a material gift.

Sometimes its all about the little things.

Kisses are FREE !

All you have to do is pucker up and start kissing him.Head to toe…let him know how much you care.

Treat dad to breakfast in bed. Call me crazy but I do this almost daily (depending on my schedule) for my husband.  I bought a bed tray years ago from PIER 1 and it was the best money I ever spent and I got it on sale too!

Go to the drug store, grocery store or the always awesome Whole Foods Market.

Fill a tote or a basket with all things you know he will love and within your budget. They have all you need for that eco-friendly health enthusiast in your life. (My new fave brand for men is OLIVINA MEN). From wine, beer, food to shaving lotion to lip conditioner…this store has what you need.

Get him a shirt he will LOVE…Magna Ready is a unique shirt company you’ve gotta see!DSC_5895

Give dad a a bath. Fill a tub with Epsom salts and add a few drops of  pure essential oil like eucalyptus or peppermint or rosemary. Refreshing. I love the brand called Aura Cacia.

If you can get a baby sitter.escape and take him on a date. Nothing nothing date night. Surprise him and drive to the secret location. A yummy ice cream parlor,a new bar you discovered and more.

Drop him off at Massage Envy after you have prearranged an appointment  for a relaxing and fabulous massage.

Take him out for or make him a tropical cocktail at home and give him a foot massage with olive oil from your kitchen at home while he sips away.

D.I.Y. Make him a beard and mustache oil  that is if he has a mustache or beard. Did you know that hair gets dry and the skin underneath of it needs attention too.

1 ounce of jojoba oil

1/2 ounce of grape seed oil

8 drops of sandalwood essential oil

Combine all of the above and funnel in and place in an antique or medicinal bottle with a dropper if possible.Go ahead and shake this up. Include instructions on a sheet of paper on how to use it.

Use your imagination to make it happen. These are just a few of my ideas to get you going. Oh and of course a hand-made card or a LOVE letter would also be a good idea from you and one from the kids.Times running out!

Spread some love and enjoy dad’s day!

D.I.Y. water

DEFINE A BOTTLE

I love making my own fruit infused and other waters. It is so green and eco- friendly. My fave alongside the ones above is a mix of watermelon and fresh mint. Buy yourself a bottle like this and you will have fresh water on the go or in your home bliss!

Do you have a WATER recipe you’d like to share with me? I’d love to hear from you and get to enjoy it too.

As we head towards Earth Day I wanted to share this bottle that and remind you to make your own flavored water. As seen on Shark Tank. Buy Buy plastic bottles!

Love Mother Earth! Recycle,repurpose, reLOVE!

Don’t forget this weekend I am doing a giveaway for a beauty bag…Sunday!

15 Things to Give Your Lover…

….when you are on a limited budget!!!  It is that time of year to show your affection with your lover or significant other.

Enjoy MY simply and fun ideas!

It can be as simple as a home-made card from construction paper, printer paper or decorative paper you may have at home.

Bake or buy them what they love…a pie,a cake, brownies, cookies.Or even a simple yummy muffin.Add a note card like “To My Stud MUFFIN”.

Make a bottle of  massage oil simply buy  almond oil, jojoba or grape seed oil.Attach a tag to it and ribbon with hearts or lips.Write that they are going to get a sensual massage from you.

Buy some Hershey’s kisses chocolate in the kind they like:Dark chocolate, milk chocolate, with almonds and more. Lay the kisses down with rose petals and make a trail from when they open the door to the bedroom. Or you can simply do this on the bed.

Another D.I.Y. you can do is make a jar of aromatic relaxing bath salts.Add a candle and you’re good to go.

Flowers are fabulous but so very expensive this time of year especially.Buy him or her a useful plant like rosemary, mint or fresh parsley. They are magic in the kitchen and plants purify the air.

Nothing says “I LOVE YOU” like strawberries gilded in chocolate, nuts and or sparkling shades of gold, red or pink sugar. He or she will swoon and love you for this edible gift.

Champagne is out Prosecco is in! And the best part it is cheaper.

There is nothing like a handwritten LOVE letter! Write like you mean it and on paper. Not a text message please. I have done this to my husband and I must tell you he LOVED it. The look on his face said it all. He still  has it. If is is too much for you to do…try a note on the mirror made with a simple soap bar and write the words  “I  LOVE you” or any short message or words that mean something special to the two of you.

If you have a few bucks treat them to a Passion Fruit Facial by Skin Spa by Casey at Jacksonville Beach. Everyone needs pampering! The skin will look amazing!

Don’t have money for a date on the town? Set up a picnic in bed or throw a pretty throw or blanket on the living room floor.Prepare a simple cheese tray with crackers or a rustic fresh bread.Add music and a cocktail. Feed each other grapes and enjoy the night kissing away!

If you don’t have money for a sexy chocolate sauce from those types of stores….try a simple bottle of Justin’s Hazelnut spread. You know what to do.Lick the night away!

If you do have some money and you want to spring…make HIS or HER heart sing with a custom bottle of perfume or cologne …JUST FOR THEM! http://www.blendcustomparfum.com2-2013 BLEND PARFUM STUDIO

I once found a REAL key at the hardware store that was white with a set of lips on it. I wrapped it in a big box with a V-day type ribbon and bow. I wrote a message with it that read “you have the key top my heart forever”. He got such a kick out of it.

I hope these ideas… help fuel your imagination for the perfect gift!

PS

If you don’t have a Valentine maybe it is time to be your own Valentine and treat yourself to something delightful.

A Pretty Yummy D.I.Y….

So can I mention how truly crazy busy I am especially this time of year? I know you are too…

I so wanted to post but my retail business has us helping Santa 8-10 hour days!!!

We are shipping glam galore. But I wanted to post something on my blog timely that you might want to make or do with your daughter, grand daughter or sister.

I truly LOVE  to D.I.Y. over the holidays especially. They make perfect gifts for YOU or for someone else! This Candy Cane Kisses lip gloss recipe can be made with traditional candy canes and with Jelly Belly flavored candy canes. They are so colorful and yummy!

What you will need is:

1 CANDY CANE

1/4 cup of fresh organic coconut oil (Or you can use Vaseline)

Simply smash the candy cane on the kitchen counter.

Put the above a few pieces of candy and a scoop of coconut oil in a microwaveable bowl.

Place in a microwave and melt them both.

Stir well.

Pull out and let it cool on the counter but before it hardens…

Scoop the two up and place in a small  jar.

What you’ll have is an awesome yummy candy cane FLAVORED lip gloss.

*FYI if you prefer to make a peppermint balm infused with a stronger flavor of peppermint add a drop of food grade peppermint oil.I love adding a few of the smashed pieces inside.Fun to look at and festive.

The coconut oil feels amazing on the lips. And softens the lips. The delicious refreshing mint or Jelly belly flavors and colors make it even more fun!

Enjoy!

I hope you are enjoying the beauty of the HOLIDAY season. Take time to have some fun!
