Is your lipstick making your lips DRY?

Beauty has had an explosion of  lip stains, three application and product steps and other matte and drying lipsticks. Just remember not all lip stains are created equal and some seem to make lips dry no matter what. Since I have an addiction for lipsticks and all things lips I have had my share of testing, tasting and applying all kinds and brands of lipsticks.

Here is a recipe for a pretty amazing sugary delight for your lips!

1 cup white sugar

½ cup coconut oil

6 drops of lemon essential oil or less

*Make it fun and add a few drops of pink food coloring or even Kool-aid!

Apply to freshly washed wet lips and go back in forth with your pinkie. Leave on at least 10 minutes. You’ll want to eat it but don’t. Instead fill this in a small jam jar or whatever little glass jar you may have.

Rinse with lukewarm water and a washcloth. Next apply your fave lip balm.

I love recycling and re-purposing  jars and other cute containers. It is so chic to be green. This recipe will make a few jars. This recipe may be used on your lips or your daughters or granddaughters lips.  Shelf life in refrigerator is a few weeks.

Don’t let the summer get away until you’ve tried this pink and lemony skin softening delight.

You know what they say …“An apple a day keeps a doctor away”.

This beautiful fruit is rich in vitamin C, vitamin A and copper, which your skin LOVES!

The vitamin C helps to re-store the collagen content of the skin. Collagen adds the elasticity to the skin, thus helps to kiss wrinkles “Goodbye” The copper content in the apple helps to maintain the melanin production in the skin. Apples act as a natural sunscreen. The vitamin A assists in building of new skin cells.

Got any left over pieces of apple? EAT them.

Enjoy the beauty of all the fruits and vegetables of fall.

Natural, Vegan,Gluten Free and oh so heavenly!

honey-lavender-scrub-300dpi I think it is important to take care of yourself.

I know it takes time and you might be giving a sigh or whine but I personally really try to practice it daily. I recommend you do it too. IF you only have a few minutes to yourself.Sip a cup of soothing hot tea or a glass of wine and enjoy five to 10 minutes to exfoliate, hydrate and oh so much more.

ME TIME! This scrub is on OPRAH’S FAVE sea salt SCRUB on her O -List .

It is 95% natural,Vegan and Gluten Free. It is not greasy and rich with vitamin E rice bran oil. Apply it to your hands, body and feet and give yourself a treat.NOT to be used on your face. This is a salty exfoliating sea salt treat not meant for your delicate complexion. You apply it before you shower or bathe and rub on a DRY body in small circles with your hand or a sponge. Then you rinse it off after it has done the skin softening and exfoliating magic. The honey and lavender additions in the scrub take it to another heavenly level!!!

So RELAXING to use and the scent makes me swoon…You gotta try it.

If you’ve got the thyme!

photo Thyme

My weekend when not guest speaking out of town or painting a sports celebrities face is spent not only working in my makeup studio painting pretty faces and spirits but also stirring up some beauty.

I had some left over thyme from a chicken recipe I cooked for my husband and was in a lemony mood.

So here is what I whipped up…A YUMMY SCENTED and fabulous exfoliating hand and body scrub!

1/4 cup of coconut oil (can’t get enough of it) Whole Foods brand

1/4 cup Greek olive oil

1 cup of granulated sugar

1 dash of lemon essential oil (Auracacia brand)

1 sprig of thyme

Stir them all together with a whisk OR a portable hand mixer/blender. Creamy and sugar with a lemon scent twist.

After this was all done. I sprinkled the mixture with a few torn pieces of thyme.  The herb thyme has benefits but I LOVE the way it looked in the scrub.

I poured from a bowl into empty jam jars.(recycle your jam jars or buy and fill Ball brand jars)

Add a mini wooden spoon and you have a sweet exfoliating gift for yourself or someone else.

Something to do over these cold wintry months and take care of your skin too.

Enjoy this from a beauty who is a true foodie. Oops almost forgot I added the zest of lemon on top of the jar before I put the lid on and shook it back and forth.

It is snowing in autumn? Your skin and nails are flaky, dry, tight and getting dehydrated by the minute even though winter is 33 days away!

Oil Beauty Bath

1/4 cup of olive or grape seed oil (I like to use Whole Foods 365 Value Brand)

Heat oil on low in saucepan for a minute to get a warm temperature NOT hot.
Pour into a small soup bowl or buy a nail soak bowl from a beauty supply.
Place your fingers into the warm lush oil for at least 8-10 minutes.
