I woke up the other day and felt awful…like a Mack truck ran over me. I was clammy, runny nose, sore throat and had laryngitis.

I was forced by my body to stay in bed several days. I hadn’t felt like this in a year. What I know for sure is when you’re sick at home and stuck in bed… you need to really rest and take care of yourself! And do something nice for yourself.

And if you don’t have energy to even take a quick shower or bath ๐Ÿ›€ just do a few things to make yourself FEEL better.

Here are a few tips…

Don’t get dehydrated. Drink plenty of liquids.

*Fresh squeezed juice is a nice bonus. If you can’t juice ๐Ÿฅค your own. Try and keep a store bought one in your freezer or refrigerator.

Refresh your skin with a cozy hot towel soaked with a dash of Vick’s vapor rub. Place over your nose and on your chest. Help those nasal passages & chest congestion.

Light a flameless ๐Ÿ•ฏ candle. Or better yet purify the air by lighting a Himalayan salt stone lamp. They light ๐Ÿ’ก up the room with such a pretty, peaceful, ambience. And nowadays are cheap but bring so much joy!

Place your feet ๐Ÿฆถ in white cotton socks with your fave hand ๐Ÿ– & body lotion. Or another tip is to slather on a coat of Vick’s Vapo rub. Then place those tired feet in fresh white socks. Feels ๐Ÿ˜Š so good! Really helps with softening the feet and they say helps your cold leave faster. It also makes your feet feel good and skin softer too.

Turn on a white noise machine or listen to music in your chair or bed.

Open the curtains and let the SUN ๐ŸŒžShine in! Let the sunlight warm you up. The light will lift your spirits too.

Put on a ๐Ÿ’„ lipstick, gloss or lip conditioner and you’ll be feeling better before you know it.

Guys you need a lip balm too! When you have a cold or the flu your lips will get dry. Very dry. Maybe even peel and flake.

Keep the skin on your face moist with a beauty oil or moisturizer. Sneezing, wiping, or blowing your nose can make your nose, face and cheeks red and raw. And dry! Keep that skin soft!

This might be a good time to put on a sunless tanner…while you’re stranded at home.It might even make you feel better. It def will make you look better.

Spray your pillow cases and sheets with a mix of 95 distilled or tap water and a few drops of lavender or Tea Tree oil.

A hydrating KBeauty sheet mask is another good thing you could do to make yourself feel better.

If you have a fever… straighten the bed. Fluff up the pillows and sprinkle your fave body powder on the sheets.

Brush your hair with a dry ๐Ÿงด shampoo. Keep it handy at your bedside.

Place your journal, prayer book,a good book, magazines or adult coloring book ๐Ÿ“š near you. Place a mini notepad ๐Ÿ“ and pen by you too . You may think of things you need to buy or to do once you’re up to it.

Keep things close so you don’t have to get up and down from the ๐Ÿ›Œ bed.

Chicken soup or Chinese hot and sour soup work wonders.

Feel hot and clammy? Got a fever? I love to make DIY Gatorade Ice cubes. Make ice cubes and suck on them! Cooling soothing electrolytes and they keep you from dehydrating too.

Ice cream ๐Ÿจ or an ice cream float is cool and soothing on sore throat! This is no time to diet. Indulge!

You know even if you get the flu shot it does not prevent you from getting a severe cold and more.

I’m just glad it’s over for me and I’m starting to feel like myself again. Something is going around. Get ready! Take care of yourself. I hope my blog post helps.

LOVE you Lavender!

Lavender is an aromatic delight that relaxes and soothes us just right!

To some people it may be an acquired taste OR scent. I so love sipping lavender tea. Lathering up with lavender scented body lotion and enjoy it’s relaxing properties in a lavender bubble bath.

One of my fave’s I featured on TV in Las Vegas this week was a steamy water facial bath.

  • First wash your face.
  • Next boil some water.
  • Then pour the water into a glass bowl or you may leave it on the stove with the burner off and get ready to clean your pores with this steamy aromatic treat. I like to add a couple of drops of lavender essential and sprinkle in a few lavender buds.I favor the brandย  Aura Cacia for my essential oil treat.
  • Next, place a lightweight tea towel over your head and bend over allowing the steam to reach your face and the towel will help the steam not to escape. Do this for at least 5 to 10 minutes for it to help open your pores and release the dead skin build up and clogged pores. It’s like a workout for your pores!
  • After you’ve sweat it out and enjoyed the steamy facial…rinse your face with a gentle complexion bar soap or cleanser.
  • Pat dry and place a smidge of moisturizer on your face. And a dash of eye gel.
  • Go to bed with a refreshed face and skin. Wake up with happier skin.

  • LAVENDER SACHET IMG_2421.jpg

Another all time treat I like to D.I.Y. is to make bedtime sachets to tuck inside my pillow cases. The one above is for Sweet Dreams and a good nights sleep. Add a drop of essential oil i lavender will make it even more aromatic.

If relaxing dried lavender isn’t your thing, try this D.I.Y. by preparing a mix of dried mini rose buds or fresh rose petals. Add a drop of rose essential oil to the sachet. The rose scent is soothing to the spirit and have you resting in no time.

I adore playing in my beauty kitchen and my bathroom which I affectionately call my beauty lab/apothecary. My husband LOVES being my tester and my clients in my beauty cottage love when I share my beauty secrets and potions with them too.

I hope you’ll take time to smell and maybe take a bite of the edible flowers and whip up something with lavender too!

Pour all of the dry ingredients above together and sprinkle in the essential oil.

Stir it all together and leave in bowl with a lid a few days.

Day 14 to more beautiful skin

imagesCA4WDI8R EPSOM SALTSWanna look skinnier, less bloated and de-stress before that next night out on the town? Or simply want a relaxing bath?
Magnesium Sulfate is magic in your bathtub. You’ve seen it in stores but probably don’t buy it nor give it much attention. The box is usually plain and boring or worse yet comes with a skeleton on it. EPSOM SALTS …A MIRACLE in your bathtub.

Next time out shopping, pick it up,buy it and add it to your beauty regime weekly.
I know you will love it too. Adding a drop of essential or a cap of your bubble bath adds an even better bath.
Bathe on, keep calm and look good too!
