What I saw,ate and did in Las Vegas!

photo.JPG friesI love Las Vegas. It is a beautiful and fun city. And the best part like New York it has so much FREE eye candy for you to enjoy. You don’t have to spend all your time on the Strip either!

My last post I told you I was going there to guest speak at the International Esthetics Cosmetics and Spa conference. This year the show was better than ever!Alongside the show is a full pavilion called the International Beauty Show. Both are shows if you are in the business of beauty and a licensed beauty professional you do not want to miss. This year we got an extra bonus…The Comic Con show was there. I saw all kinds of characters. From devils to Winnie the Poo to sexy sirens. In 113 to 117 degrees I admired the passion for the world of comic books.

Trends come and go but the biggest trend I continue to see and grow is the look of healthy skin and  the care of the skin.I tried all kinds of lotions, potions, hydrated by a new sheet mask  by the ever popular Image Skincare and skin feeling softer and loved. The ever popular Savvy Sleepers pillowcase rocks your skin with anti-aging smooth benefits. Protects your skin from more wrinkles and saves your hair and extends expensive blowouts all while you sleep. Especially from the aromatherapy spa product aisle. The smell of lavender, peppermint and more filled the show floor.

Another trend that continues to rise is COLOR.It was everywhere on the faces of makeup artists in my classes and on the show floor and at makeup booths. HAIR was colorful too. I saw all the colors of the rainbow kinda hair. It was AMAZING. My fave’ were the luscious world of lipsticks and glosses. Aqua, pink, coral, yellow, purple lipsticks are so on trend and sure to make you happy hues.Let’s not forget that nail polish continues to be in all shades to tempt you. I LOVE the fact that our world has become so color filled. Remember when our beauty world only offered safe colors like soft pink, pearly white and beige. How about when our blow dryers only came in boring gray? Well no more.

My classrooms were filled with eager to learn beauty professionals, spa and salon owners.I love what I do and travel too. After the show I was STARVING and needed to hydrate up and had to stop to my fave place for a for a burger and fries. Smothered in yum and made in the kitchen with LOVE. And a sip one of their shakes…Pink Strawberry. You know how I love pink!

I like to venture away from the strip where the locals who live there go. Not all your meals have to be in swanky expensive  I enjoyed the ever fabulous In and Out Burger where I ordered off their secret menu…ANIMAL style Fries ( see photo)

I also enjoyed exotic  meals from Orchids Garden where they serve ALL DAY Dim Sum! If you haven’t had is Chinese Brunch. The food is so fresh and the staff there is so friendly. Save some room as you might also want to try the coconut bun which is dessert that is perfect with a hot cup of jasmine or green tea.

Who doesn’t LOVE to shop? While I like the SHOPPING on the strip I also like to head to PRIMM at the outlet mall. They have some fabulous shops like Tommy Bahama,Charlotte Rousse,Coach and more.

ALL at fabulous DISCOUNT $$$$$$ prices …You won’t find on the strip.

I bought some Tommy Bahama tops and bathing suit for my husband. Gorgeous bracelets for me,sandals, perfume and a few LV souvenir gifts all for $197.00

So, I hope you enjoyed a peek inside my classrooms, the beauty and the hair shows and see what’s on trend. If you haven’t been to Las Vegas add it to your list!

Travel and explore my darlings and eat up all that life has to offer!!!

Vegas Baby!

I am so ready to paint the town pink!cropped-noreen-2015-headshot.jpg

It is that time of  year and I am so excited to guest speak again at the International Esthetics Cosmetics and Spa show in beautiful Las Vegas! It is not only a fun city it is home to so many of my fav’ foodie spots!

I will be working, exploring and shopping the show floor for the latest and greatest in beauty and skin! I love this show! It is THE BEST!

I also can’t wait to go to the strip and partake in some eye candy as these casinos offer so much. While I do not gamble I do love everything else!

It is going to be 117 average temperature and while they call it a dry heat. I call it HOT AS HELL heat just like Florida.I still sweat!

I might even take in one of the hot spas if I have time as these spots are so divine! So, I will be bringing you the best in beauty from one who craves all things beauty and who is a foodie.

I will miss my husband but so look forward to sharing with you my travel and fun finds!

Do you want to brighten up your complexion?

One of my dear friends who happens to be of Asian descent shared this recipe with me.She swears by it’s skin brightening! I also find it refreshing and skin tightening.

What you will need is:

2 raw egg whites

2 tablespoons off fresh lemon juice

2 tablespoons organic olive oil

Mix all of the above and refrigerate at least 30 minutes.

Clean your face, apply a generous layer of the above mixture on your face as if you were icing a cake. Your face is the cake. Then let it dry completely.

Afterwards remove the mask with a warm washcloth and wash your face with cool water.

Next apply a moisturizer.

I recommend you use this at least once a week maybe two.

After a month you will really notice brighter skin!

Spring into a new Skin Care Routine

MiaColorFan-7 colors.JPGAs a beauty expert I get asked lots of questions. But the one that I hear the most is on skin care.

It goes like this…“Should I use an entire brand of a skin-care line,or can I mix and match products and brands?”

Skin-care collection prevent errors as there are created like a set with step by step products and systems.

Using a Clarisonic sonic cleanser,an anti-bacterial soap,a Retin-A cream from your plastic surgeon or dermatologist and an over the counter honey almond scrub may irritate the skin and dry out the skin even more.

Another scenario I see and hear a lot of  is…overdoing it!

If you use say a cleanser from one brand with salicylic acid, a toner with glycolic acid and a retinoid face cream and a Clarisonic unit, you run the risk of overdoing and irritating the skin causing unsightly peeling and redness.

This is a over exfoliation cocktail that can backfire on your complexion.

You simply have to make sure the products are compatible and that they work for you and your skin type!

Seek an esthetician who is a skin care professional or you can ask your dermatologist on your next visit. Tell them your morning and evening skin care regime and the products you use and see if the products work well when combined. If you notice irritation and redness or your face just plain hurts and rough to the touch …stop and listen to it and give your skin a break.  Lastly,if some skin care products are not working for you try another brand.

The bottom line is a lot of teens and women are using way too many products on their face and the wrong mix. Treat your skin with TLC. Tender Loving Care.

Please don’t …keep buying more products and piling them on.

Your skin can only take so much!

There’s magic in Jade & more!

cropped-img_7371.jpgToday is Chinese New Year…the year of the rooster.  I have been pampering my clients faces and pouts with the magic of jade all day.

You don’t have to be Asian to celebrate the lunar new year and all things Asian beauty!

I also love to celebrate the next 15 days of the Chinese New Year with other beauty rituals and of course FOOD glorious Asian food.

I am Cholish…

This makes me Chinese and Polish. I love being a combination platter!

If you don’t know… Chinese, Japanese and above all K-Beauty (Korean Beauty) are all the rage.Especially when it comes to beauty rituals!

Go to your pantry or nearest Asian grocery store. Get some Chinese Take-Out and brew some hot tea starting this weekend to celebrate the lunar New Year, which begins TODAY  Saturday January 28, 2017.

Treat yourself to a festive meal and a trip to the orient without leaving the city! You might even want to invite your bestie!

Asian women I have interviewed from Hong Kong to Korea all agree…

Tea is an everyday beauty ritual. All kinds of tea from Chinese Oolong tea to Korean Barley tea. To fight off cancer they love green tea. To give them energy and stamina they drink ginseng tea. There is even a tea for inner cleansing and detoxifying tea.

Note: They usually do not use sugar or sweet and low in their tea.

Did you know that tea also freshens breath and keeps your gums healthy too? Allow me to turn you on to a delightful type tea. Jasmine tea is both delicious, smells and tastes divine. You must try it.

Rice is a favorite food in their diet as well. It fills you up faster and low in fat so you tend to eat less. Soups as main meals are another way to eat and stay trim. They fill the bowl with chicken or beef stock and toss in fresh veggies. What a delightful explosion of tastes! My fave rice is aromatic jasmine rice.* If you are looking to lose a a few pounds…try eating with chopsticks!

Korean women use up to 10 products on their face a day! They double cleanse their skin daily. They also love sheet masks. They have a mask for almost everything! Face, lips, eye area, neck, hair, feet and thighs. Some are made with crushed pearls, fruit, veggies and essence of snails (yikes). All to make them look their best.

Japanese girls love the benefits of a face mask made with nightingale droppings. That means bird poop! However, they swear by it for gorgeous flawless skin.

Jade Face Skin Smoothing Roller: Asian Royalty has used it for years. Excellent when you roll this cool tool on the face for revitalizing the skin by bringing the blood to the surface. It is also very relaxing. One side is for eyelid area and other side for face. You have to feel it to believe its magic. I am addicted.

Pearl Cream is a beauty must have. To this day Chinese and Vietnamese girls and women use this ant-aging ancient secret cream. It is made of crushed pearls and other emollients. It is opaque in color, melts on your fingers when applied to the face, and becomes translucent. It helps brighten the complexion by lightening sunspots and keeps the skin moist and hydrated. It smells as if you visited a flower garden.

Rice powder an oriental silky powder sets your makeup, helps your makeup up last longer and tones down shine. If you have problem with always being hot or have oily skin it also helps to prevent makeup meltdown. It can be used by itself on your skin or over makeup base. It can be unisex. It is applied with a Kabuki powder brush.

It also comes in a powder to go version. A little notebook of 70 papers comes to this business card like booklet. It powders the face as well as blots oil. They are called Asian Powder Papers.

Shark fin supplements and other herb shop potions are recommended to keep their fountain of youth. Even the celebrities are doing it. They say Nicole Kidman the actress takes them to keep her skin looking gorgeous and younger looking.

Dragon fruit: As argan oil is the new buzz in skin care so is the dragon fruit for our skin cells. This pink delight does wonders for the complexion when added to skincare or by eating it. It looks kinky and is a gorgeous pink hue with shooting green things coming from it. Sweet to eat!

My recipe for a cheap D.I.Y Jasmine Rice Face Mask:

  •  Take a cup of rice, rinse gently.
  • Next, pour the rinsed rice into a clear small bowl with enough water to cover it. Wait until a milky residue appears. This is your face mask. (They call them Water Masks)
  • On a clean face, place the milky watery solution from the rice on your face with a drenched cotton pad. Let it dry.
  • Rinse with a luke warm washcloth and warm water. It will brighten your skin and your skin will feel like silk from this face treat.

The fountain of youth and pretty is at your fingertips.

Explore some of the above Oriental delights.

Life is an adventureexplore beyond your door!

“Another Round” Ep. 27: Noreen Young

Lemon Love

I have always loved lemons just typing on the keyboard and posting this blog post makes my mouth pucker and water.

And I am always whipping up new recipes for beauty and healthy skin in my kitchen lab or in my bathroom. So, today was no different.I made some fresh lemonade for my husband and I started to really crave lemons. So, I made this lemon toner for face and body.

4 cups of distilled water

12 drops of lemon essential oil (I love the brand Aura Cacia)

1/2 cup of apple cider vinegar

Optional: I like to add a drop of lavender for another version of this.

After I mixed all of the above together I  poured it in a pretty spray bottle.

My skin loves this skin toner.photo LEMON

Today I smelled like lemons all day and I received many compliments on the way I smelled today. Citrus lifts your spirits too!
