Lip Blushing!

I recently had a chance to speak with Melannie Miller AKA … Mae Mae Ink on Instagram @MarMaeInk about her side hustle business as a tattoo artist.

This beauty so intrigued me! A mom of twins and two more. She is not only gorgeous she is quite artistic in many ways.

So I simply had to have her on my blog as a guest interview. One of the hottest services in beauty right now is a service called “Lip Blushing”. Since I am mad about lipstick 💄 and painting 👄 pouts I had to chat about it with her. Let’s learn about it together!

Melannie is a professional tattoo artist and I had to know what exactly is Lip Blushing?

It is a type of semi-permanent cosmetic procedure achieved by depositing pigments in your lips using small needles. Basically your natural lip shade but enhanced.

Tell us about the process?

We will first establish the color match and once we have our color I will prep the skin by cleaning your lips and the surrounding skin gently then I will apply a numbing cream then put cotton swabs in between your lips and teeth to make the canvas more firm for the procedure then I will line your lips with a lip pencil to establish an even shape that goes with your natural shape then from there I will begin depositing your color match ink into your lips.

How does somebody prepare for the service before they see you? Or is no prep needed?

We ask that you use a safe lip scrub 3-4 days out of your appointment and once more before coming in to remove any dead or dry skin.

How long does it take for someone to get their lips blushed? Or are there several visits.

It takes up to 2 hours for the whole procedure to insure an even tone and shape. This procedure will last up to 2 years.

What is the healing time? How will someone look afterwards? Is there a bit of a down time?

Is it painful?

It takes about a week to heal and you will go through a few peeling stages which is complete normal, when you leave it will be a bit red and you shouldn’t feel much discomfort due to the numbing cream we apply before. There isn’t any down time we just ask you keep them moisturized at all times during the healing process and to avoid spicy foods or heavily seasoned foods for the first 24 hours.

Is it a unisex art & service? Yes it is! Anyone can come in for any of our permanent make up services provided.

Are your pores…

So big you can swim in them?

One of my clients told me her pores are so big you can swim in them. She has always had a love hate relationship with her skin…Large Pores!

She asked me what’s a simple DIY she can try for minimizing not eliminating (they don’t go away) them. Heres a trick I’ve used often. My husband calls me a “Witchy Woman” because I use this. I know he loves me but the teasing doesn’t stop!

Now I’ve got him using it on his face too.

Witch Hazel works wonders in more ways than one. I don’t find it smells fabulous and more medicinal but… it’s cheap and readily available at drug stores and more.

After you wash your face pour some witch hazel on a cotton round and swipe on your face. Stay away from the eyes and lips.

Concentrate on your T-Zone as well as areas you feel your pores are larger.

Use this on a regular basis and you will notice a reduction in your pores.

Of course there are face masks that you can do like egg whites and oatmeal to gently scrub but give good old fashioned witch hazel a try. The beauty benefits and results may just surprise you!

Brown & Black Girl Beauty!

I love ❤️ ALL my clients and those who are girls of color too. So, I thought you’d like to learn some tips for a pretty awesome complexion, makeup and hair. This post addresses three beauty issues.

Since I am Eurasian I usually mix two foundation colors to create my look. Same is true for women of color.

Things have changed in the world of beauty with beauty brands like Fenty Beauty and other brands you can find a foundation. But at times or if you’re a mixed chick like me or not sometimes you’ll find foundation for you may be too pink, too pale, too red… so you’ll look better if you play chemist and mix two. It’s fun actually.

Mixing one foundation from a brand and a few dots of another brands color you will look even more even toned. That’s the goal… Right?

For applying foundation I like to use my Makeup Magic Wand sponge on a stick damp with a dash of water. This way it spreads easier and you can sheer the colors out as you give them a whirl.

I apply a lighter color on the inner part of the face and a darker on the edges, forehead and chin. Black or brown skin is usually two-toned. So I have learned to play with makeup and mix.

For feet, soft elbows and knees I highly recommend one of Oprah’s favorites.

Farmhouse Fresh Honey 🍯 Heel Glaze. It has an aromatic scent with hydrating loveliness that takes away an ashy look to your soles, toes, elbows and knees. It smells like grandma baked an awesome pie! Instant soft skin gratification. Beyond yum!

As for the eyes. I show my clients how to create a one color all over the lid look with a highlighter. Or how to apply several shades of  highlighters …all over the lid. Champagne, gold, copper… and at the outer corner a smidge of a deeper matte shade to pull it all together for even more definition.

As for hair I recommend what clients tell me they use for a hair hydrating treatment it is Clarified Butter. Yes, a spa hair treatment awaits you at the grocery store. You just need to go buy it. Do this once a week and leave on at least 20 minutes. Your hair will say… Thank You!!

My clients teach me and I teach them. Caring is sharing!I hope you’ve enjoyed my tips and tricks!

All Eyes on YOU!

If your practicing social distancing and doing the right thing by wearing a face cover or mask your face is not fully seen when you are out and about. That is why your eyes are NOW the center of attention. Here are a few tips I shared on TV yesterday that you might want to consider and ADD to your EYE beauty routine.

Quarantine Fatigue is a real thing I have it too. We look tired even if we got rest. bUt you can do something about it. GUYS can do some of these tips too.

Refrigerate your eye gel or eye cream. It will FEEL so cool and refreshing when you apply it.

Cucumbers DO work when you place those thin slices on each eye and close your eyes and take a quick nap to rest. Bye Bye Puffy stressed out eyes.

Buy eye masks made of gel or paper or in capsule form…they are filled with ingredients to hydrate, calm and brighten up the eyes.

Experiment with a salmon or yellow concealer. Tap on a few dots under and around the eyes. Pat and blend in softly with your fingers.

I think and always  say “An eye lash curler is like a BOOB Job for your lashes! It lifts them and curls them and is great to use even if you don’t have mascara available. Especially if you are out of your fave mascara.

If you don’t want your mascara to run and smear down and around your eyes…Try Blinc mascara. They say “Don’t paint your lashes tube them.”  The brand does NOT run and you won’t have racoon eyes either. Defines the lashes nicely and removes the tube coating  on your lashes with warm water and a washcloth. Unlike any other mascara you ever tried.

OR use a CLEAR mascara for definition without a tint.

As for wearing eye shadow try wearing a single color like a matte nude, champagne or soft gold hue. Don’t fuss with lots of color. Just add this to highlight your eyes.

Line the eyes with a cocoa, gray, or blue. I live in a creamy gel pencil eyeliner. But I love to define my eyes in this color. If your eyes are deep set or you have tired looking appearance you might want to steer clear from black. Just keep it simple. Especially for the day and the times were in.

I hope you enjoyed these tips and tricks just for your eyes!

Take care of yourself NOW more than ever.

Sometimes less is more!

FALL is definitely here maybe not so much in Florida 🌴🌞 where I now live but it is here.

As we choose a new look in makeup for fall… I think sometimes less is better!  I love to do a soft and pretty makeup look.  And I love to make up my clients in a soft kiss of color way. Yes, a deeper lipstick is always a good idea.

But you don’t have to go over the top with your makeup!  Now, if you love a lot of it and like it on your face all at one time … I get you.

I am a beauty lover too!!!

But if you are intimidated with makeup and applying it…Don’t be. Just apply a lipstick 💄 and eye 👁 liner.

I have met so many women in my career who say they are so frightened and tell me they suffer with makeup. You don’t have to suffer with it EVER!

It’s OK to apply your makeup softly and not wear it all! Really!

Can’t get enough of this drink!

I am so in love with coconut and pineapple juice. I use coconut flakes to exfoliate my lips with a dash of coconut oil.

I also love the refreshing thrill of 🥥 coconut water!

Pineapple 🍍 juice and fresh slices (Which I love to give myself a facial with). Float my boat!

So, now I am sharing a yummy tropical 🌴 like drink (not boozed up) with you that you can serve to your family too.

All you need is a large can of Dole pineapple juice.

And a bottle of Coconut Sparkling soda down the grocery store aisle.

I like to serve it in a fresh coconut shell. But you can serve it in a glass.

Makes a delightful PUNCH!

Treat yo’self, make this (so cheap) delightful drink 🍹 and have an awesome weekend!

 PS

Add dark rum and you have another delicious 😋 boozy delight!

Red Hot on the red carpet!

The Academy Awards showered us with a sea of faces and fashion….but the makeup is what I love!

The strapless gowns, sparkle, shimmer, jewels and oh so much more.

Makeup is confidence you apply to the face! The celebrities makeup artist’s know this and painted a beautiful face.
Lush bold or champagne gold glossy lips all lit up their faces.

I so loved the red lips of Adele, shiny champagne like gloss of Jennifer Aniston, the non sun-baked healthy looking skin of Jessica Chastain, the smoldery eyes of Sandra Bullock.

Salma Hayek’s hair was sky-high pulled back glam! Reese’s hair was Hollywood oh so shiny and wavy glam at its finest.

Jennifer Lawrence who of course won an Oscar is one young talented down to earth star. She looked amazing from head to toe.
Heidi Klume who did not even attend the Oscars but did attend the parties was the FULL package of sexy beauty from head to toe~ Who says mom’s have to look plain and mommy like!

The celebrities estheticians no doubt…gave awesome oxygen, diamond, toning and other type facials. Their body was wrapped with products from the sea to make their bodies even more sexy and tummies flatter.Their skin was satin-smooth and had a glistening glow.

Some celebrities faces missed the makeup artist’s powder puff when it came their time to shine.THEY SHINED way too much!
Whose face and hair did you love?
