Prettier Healthy Skin from inside and out!

They say “You are what you eat” and it is so true!

This week on TV on River City Live I featured some ideas for snacking, face and body masking and for GLOWING skin! I hope you will enjoy them too.

I try and eat the right stuff and love most fruits and veggies. But sometimes I am looking for a little cheat drink that gives me energy and can help give my skin a boost over time. I discovered an easy recipe that actress Reese Whiterspoon shared on Instagram last year. I am kinda addicted and make and drink this recipe weekly. IF you have not tried it its worth looking into. Even my husband enjoys it.

All you need is:

2 HEADS OF ROMAN LETTUCE

1/2 CUP OF SPINACH

1/2 CUP OF COCONUT WATER

1 WHOLE BANANA

1 WHOLE APPLE

1 WHOLE PEAR

1 WHOLE LEMON

SCOOP OF ALMOND BUTTER (optional)

Mix all of the above to a Vitamix type blender for easy blending.

Sometimes I like to make a smoothie/ drink what I call “Everything but the kitchen sink” I simply pull out whatever leftover vegetables and fruits I have on hand and put it in a blender with a juice I might have leftover or some bottled water. It usually turns out quite delicious!

If you are really pressed for time, Dole makes some delicious options in the freezer aisle of a mix of fruits and greens blend. One of favorites is made with mango.banana, apple, pineapple and spinach.

Stay hydrated for plump happy skin for face and body. If you are not a water drinker snack on cucumbers or drink coconut water. Add a cherry in the glass or an umbrella and make it a fun ritual. you look forward to.

Celebrities just like I love using produce for prettier vibrant skin and a healthier body. Like a strawberry face mask with fresh strawberries or they use it as a teeth whitening treat.

Avocado masks are also good for your hair or face and neck. So nourishing.

Spinach is a rock star for skin and body! My friend Victoria Evelyn founder of the Chocolate Skincare Factory brand happens to be both a pharmacist and an esthetician recommended to me another way to get my greens for my on the go lifestyle! Simply keep on hand fresh bag of spinach in your fridge and pop a handful as a quick snack. I even take a mini snack bag with me on the road or on the run. Be like POPEYE and eat spinach.

I love baby tomatoes! I pop them like candy. Really! There is a magical ingredient in tomatoes that research shows may protect our skin from UV damage from sunburn. Naturally I have to protect my skin with a SUNSCREEN from a tube but I also eat these and also make Italian dishes with tomato paste which is loaded with lycopene. Since I have had a bad sunburn before I really never want to feel that again.

I also love a banana mask for dry elbows and knees. All you do is mash a banana and put it on those dry dull areas for the body. Or you can use it as a soothing hydrating face mask too.

If you crave a little crunch…mini baby carrots are a great go too instead of potato chips! Although I really love a bag of Kettle Chips! Your eyes and skin will love you too.

Grapes are hydrating bites of love that keep your skin looking good too.

Nuts and dried fruits are good for you snack too! You haven’t lived until you have tried dried cherries! I love them as a sweet treat alone or in a salad.

Whatever you do…always remember your health is #1.

And so should your skin be too!

Self-Care Sunday …Hand Mask

Lately I’ve noticed women’s hands and feet. While waiting on lines, while grabbing a bite to eat or my clients at my beauty cottage.

Your hands go through sun 🌞 and environmental stressors not to mention using home cleaning products and hand sanitizer. Not just your face. So, they are dry and thirsty for attention.

Hand Mask to the rescue!

Some of you who read my blog may know by now how much I ❤️ to make pretty potions!

So here’s one for you!

One of the mask DIY recipes I like to do is right out of the kitchen. Not a product from a store shelf. This mask gently moisturizes and is applied to the top of the hands.

Easy as 1,2,3.

1 tablespoon of oats

1 teaspoon of lemon juice

1 tablespoon of olive oil

Mix all of the above. Add water as needed. The mask will be like a paste consistency.

Apply the mask mixture to your hands with a face mask brush or a clean pastry brush.

Leave on at least 15 minutes.

Rub your hands together another minute.

Rinse well with in the sink with a washcloth.

If you have any left over. Save it for another time. Don’t save more than a couple of days. There are no preservatives.

Follow with your favorite hand or body lotion.

You’ll have happy, softer, brighter skin on your hands.

Day 26 of MY Beauty Secrets

It is a pandemic and it is taking a toll on our face, hair and body.

So best thing for you to do is drink some smoothies for your skin and enjoy the beauty and nourishment from within. Your hair will shine and look sublime.

Have you tried juicing at home?

Once you start you don’t want to turn back! And it’s so delicious and good for you.

I love to make all kinds of juices with my juicer and with my blender. I love shopping the farmers market, roadside stands especially in the summer and buying fruit and veggies from Asian markets too. The exotic fruits are so fun to explore.

Exotic fruits are so fun to shop for!

Here’s one of my many favorite recipes !

Fresh & Tropical Delight

1 Banana 🍌

1 papaya

1 pineapple 🍍 slice and skin temoved

1 orange 🍊

1 glass of coconut 🥥 water

Blend well! Enjoy this healthy tropical delight! Embellish with an umbrella and sip away and pretend you’re in the tropics.

Bonus:

Another favorite drink of mine is to make a simple recipe fresh carrot 🥕 juice.

5 fresh carrots. Tops cut off

Leave the skin on DO NOT peel for it is filled with minerals and vitamins.

Add a small piece of garlic and a a touch of ginger. Even better.

I love to make them with coconut water too!

I try to make and drink fresh home-made juice and smoothie weekly. Get to know all the beauty from your garden and get a healthier start in the new year.

My yummy beauty secret.

Feed Your Face from the Inside Out!

I’m really trying to enjoy being more green, clean and eco friendly…with my food and lifestyle.

And in my skincare too!

Skin is so in…Especially when it is healthy looking. If your skin is not looking the way you would like it to… Perhaps its time to try something fresh and new! Looking good takes a little effort girls and so worth it. If you do not have a skin care regime now is the time to start. Also if you have been wearing sweat pants and not taking care of your skin think about taking time for YOU and get your skin in shape too.

They say “You are what you eat” and it is so true. Eating right … with a little bit of a naughty is really best. All in balance and moderation darlings! I’ve been on a kick of making SMOOTHIE BOWLS and making them is so much fun too. Your whole family will enjoy.

I love to get glowing, use beauty from my kitchen, a local farmer’s market, and make a few D.I.Y. beauty recipes and beauty potions on my own.

I will share some of the them on my new podcast to come too! But here are a few for you to enjoy this Memorial day too.

Take care of your skin and your skin will always take care of you!

Recipe for pretty skin starts from within. Not only are these good to eat they are good to use as skincare. Especially when many of us are on stay at home orders.

Yogurt (plain Greek yogurt) makes a GREAT cheap and chic face mask. Apply to a clan face and leave on at least 15 minutes. Genty exfoliates dead skin cells too.

Avocados are a great for hydrating your face and neck. Add honey to a mashed avocado and leave on at least 15 minutes. Your skin will LOVE it.

Bananas work wonders on dry elbows and knees. If your bananas are beyond ripe and you don’t feel like making banana bread…give your skin a moisturizing natural treat.

In addition, when the weather is hot and you want to chill down and make your skin feel amazing. Take a plain ice cube and rub gently on your skin. Not your eye area but try on the face. It will tighten your pores and make your makeup glide on beautifully. I also like to use an ice cube on my chest and neck. So cool and refreshing.

Have a BEAUTY filled deligthful day!

Asians are smart cookies and have a foodie lifestyle that is all about FRESH and they shop for on a daily basis.Green leaf vegetables and fresh exotic fruits are at the top of the list. Seafood, meat and poultry are the accessory!

Sandalwood Incense fills the street air and in homes. It is burned to ward off evil spirits, bring good luck and calms the spirit and soul.

Women and Girls clamor for whimsical beauty products have to offer.Face masks are very very popular there. MEN love them too. Beauty tools and gadgets too. As well as face creams made with illuminating pearls. They covet clear no brown spot skin. They even use an umbrella even when uit is not raining to protect the skin.

Pearl powder and pearl creams are the most popular ancient Chinese beauty secret. They give the face a brighter evened out look and temporarily tightens the skin. The powder is sold by the box and these mini beauty vials are rituals handed down from generations.

I have so much to share with you from my trip. I LOVE discovering what all cultures have to offer us. Please come back for more. Right now I am still trying to fight jet lag after this trip and LONG flights. Since my last trip to Scandanavia, I had forgotten how tough (but worth it) International flights can be.

An Apple a Day…keeps you healthier!

APPLE photo It has been non-stop for me for 11 days with work and play. I have been traveling to the BEAUTIFUL state of Maine, next a trip to NYC (will share soon about these trips with you) and then back to FLORIDA for more work. We did another one of our signature Pop Up shop at an event with Jacksonville magazine. Yesterday was spent painting pretty faces at my makeup studio.

Today  I am going to celebrate my husbands birthday starting with breakfast in bed.

And for me I am eating clean as I am craving green! Don’t you just love the first bite into a green crunchy apple? God’s edible masterpiece! Last night I shopped the aisles and bought the freshest batch of colorful fruits and veggies. And this week I am going to back on a beautiful food track (with a little bit of his Birthday cake)

Travel and stress takes a toll on your body and skin. Sometimes you have to take a break and treat yourself to all the bounty from a farmer’s market. And feed your body what it needs.

Be well and take time to smell the strawberries, apples and papaya!!!

Beauty Secrets from around the globe!

image1

I’d like to share some simple beauty and skin care secrets from around the world!

Some are from my travels and some are from women I have met.

The women of Greece keep healthy  by eating that creamy and dreamy Greek yogurt we find readily available at stores.Since it contains so many health and beauty benefits. They are also avid users of skin care products made with olive oil. The women and men are mindful of what they eat and a Mediterranean diet is another beauty and lifestyle secret.

The women of China and Hong Kong clamor for pearl cream and sheet masks of all kinds.Examples: pearl, aloe, bamboo rose and more. They also eat lots of fresh fruits and vegetables. The latest and greatest that has made it to our US grocery stores is the Dragon fruit for it’s anti-aging properties.I love it in smoothies and acai bowls.

Egypt Cleopatra stated it all! The milk and honey bath and honey face masks.

France! Who doesn’t have a love affair with France. While there are many delectable pastries and breads the secret to their success is by eating small meals and just a taste of deserts. Not giant portions of them. Red wine is part of their daily evening meal.As you know it contains resveratrol and is really good for heart heath. The spas offer Vinotherapy which is a wine themed therapy all made with red wine. And wearing a luscious red lipstick and a pair of sunnies  go a long chic way!

Brazil  known for the infamous Brazilian butt lifts and Brazilian blowouts for flawless smooth hair.

I enjoy doing all of the above…minus the surgical butt lift and my hair does not need that type of treatment.

I hope you enjoy these beauty and skin secrets and experiment with them too!

Trying to get in my ….Greens!

Kale

I am trying to eat more greens this year and hear all the great things about kale!
I love to eat fruits and veggies but sometimes lots of greens are hard to eat.

I love Kale chips and kale in my stir fry but this time I made a kale smoothie. I wasn’t sure what it would turn out like nor taste like…but it actually is yummy.

So here you go…my creamy Kale delight!!!
1 banana
2 cups of fresh from the market kale
1 teaspoon of Agave nectar
1/2 cup of unsweetened (or sweetened) soy milk

Place all of the above in a blender.Cover…pulse on puree and serve over ice or without ice. ENJOY!
Very refreshing and interesting yummy taste. No, I did not taste the kale at all.

So if you want to sneak in something healthy and green in your smoothie, your husbands or children’s smoothie…have at it. You know I love to cook and makeup!!!
Welcome in the green not just in your salad or stir fry.Let me know how you liked it.
