Schools Out! What can you do with…

Barbie…Your daughter or granddaughters?

Summer is still here and your daughters and grand daughters are still out of school.

Here are a few fun things to do with them this summer!

Today I shared on TV what you can do and how much fun it can be!

  • Bonding time:Do a little makeup at home day. Show them how to apply a little lipstick or gloss,a blush, nail polish and or a bit of glitter. A little goes a long way.
  • Show them how to take care of their hair or braid the hair …Barbie Hair conditioner for detangling works wonders!
  • Teach them that SUNSCREEN is a best kept beauty secret! Protecting their face and body from the sun is very important.Use dolls as demo’s.
  • Enjoy making or serving yummy refreshments like fruit infused water, pretty pink lemonade, candy,Pez and or yummy  pink cupcakes.Make it like a beauty party!
  • Another fun idea is:To show them how they can write a story book and they are the main character. All they need is an empty unlined notebook and some markers  or crayons. Encourage them to be creative.
  • Princess Patch Parties is  a local company if you’re lucky enough to live in Jacksonville Florida in the Murray Hill section of town that offers birthday and mini spa parties with facials and a little mani & pedi outing. Pink and frilly place where glitter rules! www.princesspatchgirlsspa.com
  • Lip gloss D.I.Y. with you and or their friends with a MINI bar of Hershey’s chocolate or some crushed up candy mixed with a  dash of OrganIc coconut oil from Whole Foods Market. You will need to assist children with this in the microwave for a few minutes. What you’ll have is a shiny, lip softening lip gloss. No it won’t last you’ll watch them lick it off and laugh the afternoon away.
  • I will share these ideas and more on the video from the segment. JUST A CLICK AWAY! http://www.firstcoastnews.com on The Chat
  •  ENJOY watching and hope you will try some of my outside the box ideas!

Vegas Baby!

I am so ready to paint the town pink!cropped-noreen-2015-headshot.jpg

It is that time of  year and I am so excited to guest speak again at the International Esthetics Cosmetics and Spa show in beautiful Las Vegas! It is not only a fun city it is home to so many of my fav’ foodie spots!

I will be working, exploring and shopping the show floor for the latest and greatest in beauty and skin! I love this show! It is THE BEST!

I also can’t wait to go to the strip and partake in some eye candy as these casinos offer so much. While I do not gamble I do love everything else!

It is going to be 117 average temperature and while they call it a dry heat. I call it HOT AS HELL heat just like Florida.I still sweat!

I might even take in one of the hot spas if I have time as these spots are so divine! So, I will be bringing you the best in beauty from one who craves all things beauty and who is a foodie.

I will miss my husband but so look forward to sharing with you my travel and fun finds!

A getaway to work and play in Marvelous MAINE!

First Stop …Press Hotel in Portland Maine…LOVED my room.Press Hotel washclothFinally I get a chance to take my notes from my recent trip to Maine.I hope you enjoy!MAINE photo

I arrived in sunshine got picked up by a Mercedes van by my hotel. The hotel is called the Press Hotel and used to be home of the local newspaper. The staff was wonderful from the moment my 5 feet 1 self  hopped in that van. The rooms are pretty amazing, clean and have what I love and look for a mini refrigerator! The bar and meeting rooms are luxe and petite. Cozy and charming kinda place. The room had a frig,a Keurig coffee unit and some delicious Bar Harbor Tea Company bags.

The staff  down to house keeping were a delight to be around and always helpful to my needs. The Press Hotel is located in downtown Portland where a lot of eateries, bars and quaint shops and the waterfront is.

One of my other fav’ bath and body delights was the amenity tray filled with CO Bigelow products and adding to that impressive array was a BLACK wash cloth that had MAKEUP engraved lettering on it.This was the best part as white wash cloths are a big expense for hotels and destroyed by hotel guests daily from makeup or other unexpected messes.Using a black one to remove mascara and makeup keeps the hotels laundry bill down a notch and you can remove your makeup without looking at a big makeup colored mess on a white wash cloth.  I have been using black washcloths at home and in my beauty business for ears. Finally I found a hotel who uses them too.

TOP of my Maine list is to let you know the people of Maine are so friendly! And it is a very clean state.

Here are highlights from my trip!

My stay at the Press Hotel

Holy Donut (OMgosh) these potato flour donuts were absolutely wonderful and so unique and light. And did I mention ginormous?

Gilberts Chowder House makes the BEST Chowder I HAVE EVER TASTED!

There was lots of window shopping! And of course I had to buy some local treasures. But not ones you think. I used to buy souvenirs with the state or cities name on them. No more. I now buy things that are really local and indigenous of the area. Not mugs or ash trays with the states name on it but something more meaningful.

This trip I purchased a small bottle on a silver wire hanger for my bathroom window. I love to take herb clippings from my larger plants and place them in water and root them. Herbs like mint, rosemary and then after they root I can place in soil and start a new plant for my home. I also like to take those clippings and snip and use in my bath or a D.I.Y. facial treatment.Downtown Portland has some cozy lovely shops!

Fun Fact:

The Whoopie pies mesmerize and were ginormous.

They serve a bread call Brown Bread and it is made with molasses. But you don’t buy it at the bakery you buy it down the canned food aisle next to the pork and beans. So delicious!

Bar Harbor a few hours away is filled with so many sweet shops. My fav’ is the Bar Harbor Tea Company of Maine. The tea shop is a must for tea enthusiasts like me.

I love coffee but I also LOVE a great pot of tea!

Blueberry jam, syrup, tea, soap is BIG there. They have many blueberry and other farm fields.

LOBSTER,lobster and more lobster! My cheeks are all scratched up for the lobster tails and claws.(only kidding)

As for fashion…you don’t need to get all dolled up (Except I have to for work).  This is fishermen and women territory. I wore blue jeans and light sweaters or jackets. So unlike me. BUT it felt so freeing

I still have more to see and explore! It is a must go back.

If you’ve never been to Maine you’ll go insane…it is a lovely sweet place to escape.

Biting into that juicy apple …NEW YORK,NEW YORK!

New York is the city that never sleeps and I will not rest much either. There is no place like being back home and working there too!

Biting into that big juicy apple.

Stay tuned…I will kiss and tell!

I love Naples!

naples-photo

I recently had the pleasure of visiting a magical beautiful place…Naples.

I have been in Naples Italy  before but this time it was Naples in sunny Florida!

The beauty of shopping, drinking and browsing on 5th Avenue South!

  • Bob Baker Shoes is the most unique SHOE and accessory store I have ever seen!
  • Wind and Willow fabulous fashions and fun gifts
  • Skyline Chili for casual dining on the cheap
  • Best of Everything unique gifts, baubles, bangles and beads
  • T Michaels for fine dining!
  • Naples Grande Beach Resort THE BEST place to stay~

If you ever are out that way…it is so clean and beautiful and the gulf is at your feet.

Bubbly Beer Face Brew!

e-street

I was inspired by all the exotic beers surrounding me at European Street Cafe in sunny Jacksonville Florida. My fav’ charming hunk bartender Billy who rules E Street as we affectionately call it and he let’s me sample some amazing brews. If you are ever in sunny  Florida this place is a must see. The beer and food is amazing and the bartender is priceless! Oh and did I mention they have the most amazing hot pretzels?

So, I bought some beer home and here’s what I came up with for a frothy fun facial for my skin. You can enjoy it with your guy too!

Here is what you will need:

1/2 can of beer (any kind)

1 egg white (I prefer to buy my eggs fresh from the farm/farmers market)

1 fresh lime squeeze a dash in minus the seeds

Whip the above up with a hand mixer as it makes a luscious fluffier lightweight mask. But you can use a fork instead.

The egg whites are filled with nutrients and they tighten the skin

The lime contains a dose of vitamin C which helps to tone down brown spots on the face and body.

Drink the rest of the can of beer and relax while the mask dries.

A little bit of beer and prettier skin too!

Stay tuned to my next recipe.

Alert: don’t do this and go out in the sun as your skin will be more sensitive in the sun. It is the vitamin C from the limes or lemons or oranges that do this.

Oh and the cafe/bar lighting was not the photographic best it was a long hurricane weekend and The Specktator took a photo of me on top of me and asked me to hold a beer in my hand.

That is not what I usually hold.  It is usually a LIPSTICK. Oh and that was ginger beer soda by the way!

“Another Round” Ep. 27: Noreen Young

Back to always fabulous Las Vegas!

I LOVE to work and play in Las Vegas!

Back again last weekend for the International Esthetics Cosmetics and Spa Conference as well as the International Beauty Show.  Two fabulous shows one for beauty industry professionals like makeup artists, skin care professionals ,spas and plastic surgery clinics. The other IBS is loved by hairstylists, nail techs and makeup artists.LV SIGN photo

So good to connect with businesses, explore the show floor and lecture. My two topics were “What a Bride Wants” and “Model and Fashion Week Beauty Secrets.”

Someday soon I will post them and will share them ALL with you too!

They had a cool down in the weather instead of the 122 degrees they’ve been having… it was only 112 degrees.Lol…it was tough! I played on the LV strip, I got a mani & pedi, shoulder & back massage, got a deep cleansing facial and foot spa experience all on the show floor. I sampled, touched, sniffed, rubbed and tested many of the new products in beauty.

I shopped till I really dropped…lots of  work and YET so much fun!

Gotta get caught up and rest up and reboot my body. It is exhausting and travel today is even more so. I had two flight issues one with airplane problems and one with delays that were weather related.Happy to leave and enjoyed all that LV had to offer and happy to get back to my husband and to chill.

Dim Sum …tiny bites of exotic deliciousness!

photo DIM SUM 2016If you are looking for an exotic brunch in NYC this is it! Your new spot to dine!

It is called Joy Luck Palace and it is on 98 Mott Street in NYC.

Chicken feet,Beef short ribs, shrimp dumplings, pork steamed dumplings, taro root,Chinese like potatoes and more oh my. I had to try almost one of everything!

Ladies push metal carts around filled with tiny bites of exotic delights…including sweets.I’ll never forget the first time my husband experienced it. You should have seen the look on his face. If you haven’t been you point to what you want to try and eat and they serve it to you. Most do not speak English or speak broken English and it is hard to know what they are saying in Chinese.

Oh what a fabulous time I had (they seat you with other people not your own table) I was seated with women who were around 80 years young doing what we do best… Girl Talk but spoken all in Chinese.I don’t speak Chinese I speak English and Polish. They sipped hot tea like it was a great glass of wine!

After the meal they nodded goodbye and went on their merry way fed and happy.

It was a lovely sight to see…I will be there one day.

If you are ever in NYC look them up. they are fairly new and this location used to be The Grand Harmony but now has been renovated, new chefs and new and even better dim sum…which I did not even think was possible!

As I have told you before I love to cook, eat out and makeup! EAT up what the world has to offer and explore beyond your door, your town, your country.Life is a beautiful buffet of people, places, cultures and glorious things! Don’t you agree?
