Foodies!

I love ❤️ to eat! Especially foods that not only nourish my body and fill me up but that are great for my skin.

Today let’s chat sweet potatoes!

Sweet potatoes 🍠 are filled with antioxidants, selenium minerals like copper and super rich in vitamin C.

Eating them can actually help with dry skin and wrinkles. Vitamin C creates collagen which helps to keep your skin firm, plump and reduces the appearance of dry skin. Doctors say they can even give your skin a healthy tint. Just by eating them regularly.

You can also enjoy them as a face mask. Yes, I’ve tried it! I do it too.

What you will need for this food recipe:

1 boiled sweet potato

1 cup of plain Greek yogurt (not sweetened)

Whip or mash the two together. Cool. And apply this simple mask on your face. Keep away from the eyes. Leave on at least 15 minutes.

Yogurt exfoliates the skin and the sweet potato softens the skin. I love this mask after a day at the beach or at the pool. It really feels good!

Rinse well with a warm washcloth and follow up with your favorite moisturizer.

If you’re looking for a light lunch, snack or a side dish for any meal… here’s an awesome recipe all my guests enjoy!

Creamy Sweet Potatoes with an Asian Twist

What you will need for this food recipe is:

6 large sweet potatoes 🍠 Peeled and cut into large chunks

1/4 teaspoon of nutmeg

1 Can of coconut 🥥 milk (14 ounces)

Pinch of salt and freshly ground black pepper

In a small saucepan, simmer the coconut milk until reduced by one quarter.

In a large pot of water that has been lightly salted boil the potatoes until very tender. Drain and transfer to a food processor or mixer. Add coconut milk, nutmeg and mix together.

You’re done! No butter needed. Really!

However, if you’d like to add a few pats of butter go for it! And or a dusting of cinnamon sugar. Beyond yum!

A cozy comfort food ANY time of year.

This makes a casserole dish full and feeds quite a few people or you’ll have leftovers. That’s good too. So delicious!

Enjoy!

Please note: if you are allergic or can’t eat sweet potatoes skip these recipes.

It’s a secret!

Can you keep a secret?

I tried but it was tough. Last month my husband and I went to a place that had the most amazing vibe. It is located in sunny Florida 🌴 but they asked me to not say a word on the address. They want YOU to find it if you want to go.

You need to make a reservation online. Your reservation will only be for an hour and a half. It’s a popular coveted place! And by the way, reservations are really hard to get! So be flexible.

You’ll be given a secret password just for you that day.

They suggest you dress with an island 🏝 vibe. flowered shirt or dress, Hawaiian vibe and maybe wear a lei flower necklace. 🌺 You know … get into the mood. So I did. My husband did not play. But at least he wore a peach Tommy Bahama top.

When we arrived a beautiful girl greeted us. She told us the story of this magical place. She gave off great energy.

The lighting is dark and mysterious. Unique decor intimate settings are all over. Some of the tables have old school paintings of Asian and Hawaiian women back in the day. Really pretty!

A large TV screen is at the bar that plays non-stop old time movies with an Island twist.

This bar and the staff …so awesome. Old school Hawaiian drinks 🍹 with mini umbrellas of course!

Everywhere you turn there is more exotic decor and a mix of lighting, flowers, Tiki, skulls, cool red lighting and novelty lamp lighting illuminated and filled the room.

Mysterious Lighting!
I never tasted Spam before I ate this!
So delicious! White Rice 🍚 is so yesterday.
Secret Tiki Happy Hour drinks 🥤 & dumplings 🥟 and more!

Worth exploring and stepping into their 🚪 doors! A 😎 place indeed. Perhaps I’ll see you there sometime by chance if you go. Explore beyond your door.

Aloha! 🌺

Oscar Time! 🎥

It happens once a year. The time is here!

My husbands not into watching the Oscars from year to year. But I like to watch the show. So, prepare a mini feast of delights for myself on a silver tray. Yes, just for ME.

As I mentioned before I think every single day is a reason to celebrate! 🎉

Champagne or a “virgin” mocktail cocktail is always a good idea! Right?

Everything is better with a cherry 🍒 on top or the bottom! Isn’t it?

Did you know some mixologists place a sugar cube in a glass of champagne? They say when the champagne 🍾 hits the sugar cube at the bottom of the glass it creates an ongoing fountain of bodacious looking bubbly!

A luxurious dip is delish! Especially while watching the Oscars. This recipe is from a client. I’ve used it for years. It is like a meal in itself. Of course if you’d like to make a charcuterie board or other delights… do that.

What you will need for this Artichoke Casserole recipe:

1 6oz jar of marinated artichokes

1 8oz package of cream cheese

2 packs of chopped frozen spinach

1 tsp 🍋 lemon juice

1/4 lb of real butter

Fresh Parmesan cheese shavings or sprinkled on top.

Cook spinach and be sure to drain it well.

Next add butter & cream cheese into the hot spinach.

Stir cheese but not too much. As lumps are ok.

Cut artichokes into halves.

Grease a casserole dish and line with the artichokes only. None of the liquid.

Add the marinade from the jar and the lemon juice to the spinach mix.

Pour this over the artichokes.

You’re almost done.

Now sprinkle with Parmesan cheese.

Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes.

Casserole will be creamy dreamy and delightful! Serve with sliced veggies or crackers of your choice. You’ll be licking the casserole dish. Add some fresh fruit and you’re good to go!

Saving the best for last I like to make something sweet. And popcorn 🍿 from my old vintage popcorn machine makes it even better. It is so cute and so fun!

While the popcorns still warm pour a melted chocolate 🍫drizzle on top. I found some pretty colorful pastel Easter M & M’s and sprinkled that on top! If you’re not into these toppings create something else.

Allow it to cool and harden.

OMG! Yum for one.

Happy Oscars.

Always wanted to do it!

What did I want to do???
