Check out the video clip.

FYI

If you are allergic to any other the ingredients below. Please skip that ingredient. If you have very sensitive skin do a patch test on your inner wrist.

I have super sensitive skin. I do not have any problems with any of these delightful DIY treats. 😍

Coconut 🥥 milk by the can is so softening and gives you a healthier sheen. Use it before you shampoo and then pour a cup on your ends and rub a comb through your hair. Leave on at least 15 minutes.

Women from exotic countries love this hair trick!

Canned Coconut milk or coconut oil both work!

Hi 🍯 Honey! Face Mask Recipe

Local honey makes a skin softening and soothing face mask for women or men. Yes, it’s a bit messy and you might want to eat it and lick 😋 the leftovers. but it is a quick wonderful mask. Apply on clean face and leave on at least 10 minutes. I also like to do this mask on my neck.

A little honey goes a long way!

Rice 🍚 Water Face Mask for uneven skin tone

Raw White rice for your skin? Yes, please!
Oats for your bath? Why not?

Milk & Oat Bath Body Recipe

Fill a bathtub with warm water. Place a sachet (muslin or organza bag both work)

Filled with a cup or two of raw oats and some powdered milk.

* You can substitute the powdered milk for a small bottle of water.

Soak your cares away, dry skin and itchy skin away! Soak in the bath until the water 💦 cools. Your skin will feel amazing.

Nail & Cuticle Hand Bath

All you need is some olive 🫒 oil, avocado 🥑 oil or other favorite oil. I like to soak my hands in this oil bath. Do this for at least 10 minutes.

* Rub the extra oil on your toe nails and feet.

Instant mani & pedi fix !

End these spa like treats from your kitchen with a martini 🍸 or a glass of bubbly Prosecco or champagne 🍾

My husband likes to join in on the pampering self care fun too!

Dull and Dry Hands?

I know the seasons are changing and our hands are getting a bit drier or will be.

Hers a recipe for a quick fix. Cheap and easy!

What you will need for this DIY recipe:

1 bottle of glycerine from the drug store (You’ll need two tablespoons)

1 handful of sea salt

Place the above ingredients in a bowl. Stir well.

Wash your hands.

Apply the mixture on your hands. Tops and palms. Rub in gently. Using a brush is optional but I like to skip it.

Leave on at least 10 minutes.

Rinse and apply your favorite hand and body lotion.

Enjoy softer and healthier looking hands.

Guys will enjoy its beauty benefits too.

Self-Care Sunday …Hand Mask

Lately I’ve noticed women’s hands and feet. While waiting on lines, while grabbing a bite to eat or my clients at my beauty cottage.

Your hands go through sun 🌞 and environmental stressors not to mention using home cleaning products and hand sanitizer. Not just your face. So, they are dry and thirsty for attention.

Hand Mask to the rescue!

Some of you who read my blog may know by now how much I ❤️ to make pretty potions!

So here’s one for you!

One of the mask DIY recipes I like to do is right out of the kitchen. Not a product from a store shelf. This mask gently moisturizes and is applied to the top of the hands.

Easy as 1,2,3.

1 tablespoon of oats

1 teaspoon of lemon juice

1 tablespoon of olive oil

Mix all of the above. Add water as needed. The mask will be like a paste consistency.

Apply the mask mixture to your hands with a face mask brush or a clean pastry brush.

Leave on at least 15 minutes.

Rub your hands together another minute.

Rinse well with in the sink with a washcloth.

If you have any left over. Save it for another time. Don’t save more than a couple of days. There are no preservatives.

Follow with your favorite hand or body lotion.

You’ll have happy, softer, brighter skin on your hands.

Time to give your hands some love!

The weather is changing around the country and I hear you. Many of you are asking what to do to help hands and fingernails look their best. You can use expensive store bought products or you can use a combination of them with a go to your kitchen twist.

Natural Hand Soak

I like to soak my hands in a bowl of warm water and 1/4 cup of apple cider vinegar. The acid from the apple 🍏 cider vinegar gently exfoliates the skin on your hands. Do this for at least 5-10 minutes.Rinse well and wash your hands with soap and water. Apply your favorite hand and body lotion afterwards. If you have more time take it and follow my next two steps below.

I especially love to do these treatments on Sundays when I have more time now.

Next, I like to use and apply a thin coat of a hydrating FACE mask on my hands. You heard me! Face mask. Your face won’t know you’re using a face mask on your hands but the hands on your skin will know. Leave on at least 15 minutes. Rinse with lukewarm water and a washcloth. Your hands will be even more hydrated and look better too.

Please note:A mud mask or a mask for oily skin will not do. Choose a creamy moisturizing mask.

Last natural beauty hack step is organic coconut oil I highly recommend you take those clean hands and apply coconut oil to them. Rub in on the fingernail beds, cuticles and tops and bottoms of the hands.Wrap your hands in saran wrap or simply enjoy the oil alone and leave on 5 minutes and rub into the hands and all over the nails. With all the hand washing we need to do and the weather this 15 minute or more treat will have the skin on hands on your hands feeling so good.

Photo by Karolina Grabowska on Pexels.com

When you’re done you can rinse your hands but I blot my hands on a paper towel and ENJOY the healthy happy hydrated glow of your skin. (Be careful your hands will be a bit slippery for a bit).

*If you are allergic to ANY of the ingredients don’t use and skip the step or substitute with something else.

Cheap and so worth the few minutes it takes to do.

Happy Self Care SUNDAY!

Secrets From a … Nail Artist You Need!

I recently had a chance to chat with a nail artist. In my interview I asked her what are her Top 5 Tips for the Nails.

With all the hand washing we are doing and it all taking a toll on our cuticles and finger nails I know you will enjoy her fabulous tips for healthy nails! Hope you put her trade secrets and personal fav’s to work this long holiday weekend.

Or book and appointment with Nina! Her number is 904-234-7161 if you’re lucky enough to live local in Jacksonville Fl. 🌴

Here are her tips and is one of her latest nail creations. So fun! So pretty.

  1. Hydrate- keeping the cuticle area hydrated with a cuticle oil. I prefer my own brand Cula, which consist of vitamin E, jojoba oil, and an essential oil.
  2. Taking vitamins– taking vitamins working from the inside out helps promote healthy nail growth. Vitamins B is best.
  3. Nail growth– Using a nail protein such as Nailtiques protein 2 plus helps train those nails from broken & brittle to healthy strong nails. I recommend polishing every other day for two weeks and evaluating your nail growth from there.
  4. Manicures– keeping the nail plate clean and getting rid of old dead skin cells helps promote nail growth.
  5. Nail tech– choosing the right nail tech that is knowledgeable and knows what there doing to help you take care of your nails.

Did you know the first nail polish originated in China as early as 3000 BC !

Sweet Dreams Darling

Are you Sleepless in Seattle like me? I find a lot of us are. This pandemic isn’t very pretty and a bit stressful too.

So here are a few tips I use or have started to use to get better sleep that I find are working and make me look better when I wake up too.

Drinking tea like Chamomile or Holy Basil are calming to the nervous system and great to enjoy a cup an hour or so before you go to bed.

Buy fresh lavender online and get some muslin or organza bags you can find at the craft or Dollar store. Make yourself some fresh lavender bud sachets. Place in pillowcase or hang from the bed post. The soothing and calming scent will make you feel relaxed. You can even make an eye mask with them if you like to sew.

Take a bath…Especially if you are a shower guy or gal. Baths are miracle workers and can really settle you down after a long day. Even more so now. Use Epsom salts and add a few drops of jojoba and lavender oil. I like the brand called Aura Cacia. Did you know they even make lavender tea? So delightful to the tongue and to your spirits.

If you want to refresh tired feet soak them in a water basin and give them a bath with a few drops of peppermint oil.

Discover Spongelle... it is a hand wash buffer sponge that gives you  at least 40 hand washings and sanitizes too. More effective at removing germs and dirt than soap alone. The best part it has aromatherapy like ThymeTea Tree Oil. You can use it in a bath,in the shower or hand washing. You can even travel with it. Since we need to wash our hands often and haven’t been able to get manicures. I love to use this to keep clean especially for behind the finger nails. I’ve cut my nails back and love how clean and soft yet not dry my hands are.

A good nights sleep I think also requires clean pretty sheets and a lush BETTER  pillow. I found a pillow that is great to not only sleep with but helps with sleep wrinkles,Morning puffiness and marks. Bye Bye puffy face when you wake up in the morning!

Sleep and Glow  is designed with your face in mind! And is the brand and I can’t wait for you to check it out too.

Make a nightly SLEEP ritual… and I wish you Sweet Dreams!

Tips for getting that…Kiss of Summer Look!

Today on TV I am sharing some skin care secrets on ways to prep your face and body for a gorgeous tan or safe faux tan.

You can catch the video link later this morning once it is up on http://www.news4jax.com on the one and only Channel 4 in sunny Jacksonville Florida. The Morning Show.

1.Prep your skin with an exfoliant product for a flawless smoother tan. They work wonders and kiss your dull tired skin “Goodbye!” I am crazy about Cure Natural Aqua gel, Fake Bakes Exfoliating Wipes and I also love and old school Creamy Honey and Almond scrub. You decide what works for you. They all work well.

2.Hydrate the skin with a moisturizer.

3.Check out the latest trends in self tanning.

Tanning Drops (Yes, it’s a thing!) by Farmhouse Fresh goods called Bronze Fox.

Tan Towel a towelette that you wiper on the tan.

Flawless Self Tan liquid by Fake Bake. Fake Bake even has a body mate microfiber band with handles to apply your self-tanner evenly and with ease. ALL streak free …no bad scent. They even make a self-tanner for the face. Guys you’ll love to use these too.

4.Powder Bronzer like Fake Bake is a multi-purpose beauty product. I like to use it as an all over face color to fake a tan,as a blush or as an eye shadow or eyeliner when used with a brush. Dip your clean lip brush in it and you can even make a lipstick in a pinch by adding a clear lip balm over it on your lips.

5. In or out of the sun practice safe sun with a sunscreen daily. No matter what your coloring is… especially living in sunny Florida. Sunscreen is a must.

I love to spend time in the sun. Really I do. But now I only take a walk on the beach for some Vitamin C/Sea. As a skin cancer survivor I KNOW and learned the hard way.

Be sun smart,Fake Bake!

Can COVID-19 Live On Your Beauty Products?

By Daley Quinn

If there’s ever been a time that you really, really need to wash those nasty makeup brushes, now would probably be it. With the coronavirus swiftly sweeping across our nation every day, many beauty devotees are left wondering: can COVID-19 live on your beauty products?

While you’re most likely stuck working from home, you probably aren’t wearing too much makeup, unless your manager insists on having 75 Zoom video conference meetings in a day. Or perhaps you’re in the mood to get a bit dolled up for your impromptu date night with a partner, leftover chicken and pasta included. Or maybe you’re just bored and really wanting to practice your application technique with the free time you now have. Regardless, it’s imperative that you be washing your hands often during this time, but it’s also important to be wiping down surfaces throughout the day while you’re stuck at home—this includes your beauty products. Celebrity makeup artist and Veil Cosmetics founder, Sébastien Tardif, walks us through the steps on how to keep your makeup kit as clean as possible.

So, can COVID-19 live on makeup?

According to a new study published on March 17, 2020 by the New England Journal of Medicine, the coronavirus can remain stable on different types of surfaces for different amounts of time. The study tested how long the coronavirus can live on various surfaces within a controlled laboratory setting and found that it was still detectable on copper for up to four hours, on cardboard for up to 24 hours, and on plastic and steel for up to 72 hours.

Considering many cosmetic products are made from plastic, it’s safe to say that you should be cleaning all your beauty products often (which is probably something you should have been doing prior to the COVID-10 pandemic, but we’ll give you a break this time). Unfortunately, it’s not yet known if the virus can live inside the actual formulas, such as in liquids or powders.

How should you clean your beauty products and brushes?

In terms of cleaning your makeup brushes, Tardif suggests cleaning them as you normally would, and paying more attention to cleaning your hands instead. If you have been diligently in self-isolation, you can continue to wash your brushes once or twice a week for good measure,” suggests Tardif. To properly clean your brushes, simply use a mild shampoo or soap, make it into a lather in the palm of your hand, and rinse with warm water until no soap comes out of the brush. Squeeze excess water gently and leave to dry overnight.

“If you have been out and about meeting people and touching your face, make sure to wash your hands and face first—no need to wash your brushes more often,” he says. Keeping your hands clean is the most important.

When using makeup or skincare products while quarantined, try to wipe them down with a disinfectant wipe or spray every time you use them. Yes, it might be a pain, but considering the virus can live on plastic surfaces for up to 72 hours, it’s better to be safe than sorry.

How can you apply makeup more hygienically during the coronavirus outbreak?

“COVID-19 or not, never put your fingers in your makeup and skincare jars, as bacteria proliferation will develop and cause your product to fail you and not last as long as it should,” warns Tardif. “Plus, it may even start to develop a rancid smell.” When applying a makeup or skincare product, Tardif suggests using a cotton bud or a clean mini spoon to dig out the product, so that you can avoid dipping your fingers into the formula and potentially contaminating it.

Additionally, avoid blowing on your makeup brushes when trying to get rid of excess powder prior to application—this isn’t very hygienic, either. Rather than blowing on it, tap the brush to remove excess powder.

Bottom line: Keep your beauty products clean by wiping them down after each use (if you can), but more importantly, focus your efforts on washing your hands often, as well as your face if you’ve been outside or around multiple people at once.

Hello,Handsome!

BEARD BAR IMG_5647.JPGI know you want to look and feel good too!

Great looking healthy skin takes a little ME time and effort DAILY!

In the summer our skin tends to break out or get dehydrated from the sun and outdoor activities even more. Here are the latest and greatest in grooming this summer and beyond!

  • Skin care exfoliation is very important for the guys too. Fruit Peel by celebrity esthetician Elina of Elina Organics will gently exfoliate your skin  while you sleep.
  • Fresh Face Beard Bar is a new way to wash your beard and soften it up and clean the complexion underneath. You don’t want your beard or mustache to be dry and unkempt looking. It’ not enough just to wash your face. 🧼 Don’t use deodorant bars on that handsome face!
  • Stay hydrated by drinking lots of water.
  • Floss- Caring for your 🦷 and gums = A healthier heart. Cocofloss is the way to go made with Coconut oil.
  • A relaxing 🛀 bath with bath salts or your fave Aura Acacia essential oil, detoxifying sheet mask and a hand, feet and body lotion to follow work wonders on the body and skin after a long work day or week.
  • Got leftover beer? 🍺 Rinse your hair with it after you shampoo. The malt and hops in beer contain cleansing properties!
  • D.I.Y. Recipe #2  Add a dash of apple 🍎 cider vinegar to the hair with a bit of beer and 1 oz. of water 💦 and you’ll have a hair rinse that removes build up of all those products you’ve been using. Shinier clean hair!

Cool products and tools for cool guys!

TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF! You are all you got.

SUGAR Please!

Happy 1st day of summer!

As the summer begins you want to EXFOLIATE your skin. Dead skin cells mount up on your hands, feet and body and your skin needs a bit of TLC attention. This will also help you get a better even tan. I love doing this before I apply my sunless tanner. Your skin will be smoother and tan faster and more efficiently.

It really WORKS!

Sugar & CITRUS Scrub

2 tablespoons of  white or brown sugar

1 orange zest

1 tablespoon of lemon juice

2 tablespoons of sunflower oil or apricot kernel oil

Mix all of these in a small bowl and on a clean body. I like my body to be slightly damp. Rub in circular motions and slough off your tired looking winter skin. Your skin will turn a little pink and have a flushed look. That’s a good thing. You are bringing blood to the surface and helping circulation.

Rinse well with luke warm washcloth. Next, apply your fave body lotion.

Lemon Love Water

Follow this D.I.Y. treatment by drinking  a half a gallon of water with a slice or two of lemons. Drinking this will eliminate toxins and flush and clean you from the inside.

Sip it throughout your day.

I hope you will enjoy this refreshing skin loving treat,be more hydrated and kiss your dull skin…GOODBYE!
