Did you happen to watch the Oscars?

I did. I enjoy watching the Academy Awards. And this year was looking for a sense of normalcy.

My favorite of the night was the TOTAL package on actress Margot Robbie. The after Covid new look makeover, makeup, the gorgeous gown and more! Oh and that hair I wanted more, more and more! Those bangs and side fringe were so red hot gorgeous!

I loved ❤️ loved ❤️ loved Viola Davis’s look too. That dress fit her like a glove and was so sexxxxy!

The makeup, the fashion and more?

It certainly was different and more down to earth and one like we’ve never seen before. Wasn’t it?

The metallic hues, shades of red, white & black and sunshine yellow on Zendaya who glowed it it. Loved the sparkle and the glowing Royal blue on Glen Close.

Pink 💕 was certainly another attention getter even the men got in on that color with a chic hot pink suit.

Brad Pitt’s man bun (I hate that term) looked tres handsome to me. And his skin was tawny and I liked his body toned suit.

Most wore accessories that were simpler and MEN got in on the jewelry action. Chains and rings. And who knew we’d see Crocs footwear and the Oscars.

Frances McDormand always makes me sad. She’s won a lot if Oscars and is a good actress but her dark, long, drab choices of clothes make me blue!

I just wish she’d at least wear a lipstick 💄 and do something with her hair. and while I live in black and love and wear bold color clothing too. I just wish we could see her look more vibrant one day soon.

And as always I wish I was there to use some Asian powder to blot up their over the top facial glow. And retouch their lipsticks and add a touch of lip balm on the men. Dry, parched lips never look hot or good.

Meet L.A.’s Grooming EXPERT

Featuring MY FRIEND and blog guest… Cole Patterson, Celebrity Skincare Specialist/Grooming Expert

How did you get started in the beauty industry?

I started my career as a makeup artist over a decade working on music videos and commercials.  I’ve always been passionate about skincare and wellness.  Being a licensed esthetician I offered more than concealing and contouring for talent.

Working behind the scenes gave me the opportunity to touch celebrities than extended beyond makeup application.  I was able to education them on new products, techniques and tips on how to maintain flawless healthy after pre and post makeup up.

As my career blossomed I acquired a large male clientele working with music artists, professional athletes, and Hollywood’s A-Listers.

I’ve worked with celebrities such as Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Usher, Justin Bieber, Chris Brown, Anthony Anderson, Larenz Tate and the list goes on.

What drove you to come out with your own skin care line?

Being a licensed professional and working as a makeup artist I realized skincare to be a factor to maintaining a flawless palette.  I noticed women had a plethora of products to care for their skin on set and home regimen while men were subject to using whatever was available.  Seeing men under served in this area I saw a need to offer them gender specific advanced products that were easy to use and required minimal steps.

In 2014 I formulated Cole Skincare for Men and launched online in 2015 featuring the 3-in-1 Foaming Cleanser as our 1st multi-functional product.

I’m a single mother of 2 children so my day is pretty extreme with juggling motherhood, business, personal life.  Last year I took a leap of faith and pursued my dream of becoming a filmmaker so just as things were balancing out I decided it was time that I live out my dreams and create, produce and direct.  Currently I have a documentary series aired on The Word Network I produced and directed which aired April 16, 2018.

Besides your work schedule what does a typical day look like for you?

My day consist of waking up at 4am to medicate, hit the gym at 5am to return home by 6:30am to get the kids off to school which is an hour drive to make it to my 10am yoga class.

After yoga my mind is clear and ready to create.  I research new products ,trends and techniques for skin care including but not limited to medial treatments and plastic surgery.  I spend a few hours a day working on my skincare line.  By 2:00 I head to pick up the kids, homework, dinner, put them to sleep.  While there sleep it’s my creative space I spend this time to conceptualize ideas, ads, & commercials for Cole Skincare for Men or explore different genre of movies to keep fresh ideas and concepts brewing for my next directorial project.

My Take on the 2017 Golden Globes…

I was called out of town so I could not post about the Golden Globes until now. BUT on Sunday I was glued to the TV screen.One hand on the TV remote and another with my cell phone.

From the Opening of the show…Jimmy Fallon just doesn’t fit this role to me.

I was Facebooking,Tweeting and simply could not get to Instagraming.I took notes feverishly so I could remember it all while taking it all in for my blog post.Who worked  the best look to you?

Let’s hear it for the GUYS!

Ryan Gosling looked dapper in white and black.Every hair in place and skin that glowed.

Ryan Reynolds seems to always looks good.

Justin Timberlake as ALWAYS looked amazing. And what can’t this guy do?

SLY Stallone is aging with handsome grace.So love him!

Denzel, he always does it for me.Just the sound of his voice.

Never get tired of Brad Pitt he looked handsome and his skin had a golden hue.

However, for a lot of the men the MEN’s  grooming was no where to be found with bushy beards and scruffy looks.Some may be preparing or in the middle of shooting a movie but it appeared scruffy beards were in! Or the actors simply didn’t care.They may have just liked scruffy look!

As for the ladies…

Tracee Ellis Ross looked amazing and always rocks that CLASSIC red lip! Didn’t she?

Goldie Hawn always a knock out for her age.

Jessica Chastain  breasty and gorgeous  in that  blue hue!

Nicole Kidman,Kerry Washington and Reese Witherspoon never disappoint!

Sarah Jessica Parker aka SJP disappointed me with her hot mess dress and the hair was so off too!

Meryl Streep’s dress reminded me of her Christmas day outfit in all the shades of it sparkling in red,silver and green. I don’t know if she dresses herself every year she attends these type shows but she is never on point.

Can we talk about …

 

Priyanka Chopra’s PERFECTLY contoured & bodacious breasts? I think she is gorgeous! I wish I looked like her.

Peaches and cream skinned Emma Stone looked awesome from head to toe.

I always get a kick out of Amy Schumer.

Naomi Campbell rocked that pink dress and glistened.

YELLOW and golden nude gowns were popular hues!

Fun BEAUTY FACTS…

Viola Davis not only wore that happy and sexy yellow dress… She also rocked a lotion called GLEAM by Melanie Mills in a deep gold shade on her body. Oh and if you like her makeup as much as I did…Autumn Moultrie did the gorgeous makeup!!!

Kristen Bell wore a BUTT LIFT undergarment and flaunted it on Instagram.

Kayleen McAdams did the makeup on Sofia Vergara.While her nude like dress fit her like a glove it reminded me of many others there and that is trending.

Lots of the celebrities hair locks were styled by celebrity stylists with Pantene hair products.

While L’oreal was a sponsor and the products were used on some of the celebrities.

But I wondered where all those makeup artists were with the infamous powder puff! This very shiny face look was seen on many celebrities.Guys and gals! Did you notice that?

I wanted to jump in on my TV screen and powder their noses and faces.

A popular eyelash used was by KISS lashes…lash couture a $6.00 beauty buy!

They sipped Moet rose at the globes but on some they needed to gloss up and lipstick up because the lipstick looked lack luster or barely there after sipping.No touch ups? Where was the Glam Squad or a  touch up of lipstick and powder in their purse.

If I wasn’t going out of town I would have posted more to this blog but packing my luggage was a priority. I hope you like my take on the Globes and a few beauty secrets along the way.I enjoy watching these shows and going to the movies.But always remember…celebrities are just like you and like me. The difference is they have a job with a huge salary and they get paid to look healthy, glam and good. Don’t worship them.We really don’t even know them. We know the characters they play.

They are actors and they ACT for a living!

Makeup Artist’s Secret!

What to do with your almost done makeup?

You savor the last drop. Right?

I think being green is gorgeous and not wasting is a good thing.

Here are a few ways that I love to do both in my retail makeup studio,from my personal makeup bag and on my vanity.

Yes, I do have one of those. It is so ala old Hollywood!

When your blush,eyeshadow or powder compact is showing more silver or plastic inside and the product is forming a product ring around the sides.Rescue it with this tip.

• Crack the sides with a small butter knife or other utensil that you have.
• Loosen up the blush or powder and turn them into a loose product.
• Pour into a mini travel container and use with a blush or powder brush. I bet you’ll have a weeks worth at least.
