Travel & Beauty Tips

As we are getting out of the house more for a day, a mini vacay or a business trip. I like to pack as light as I can (which is not easy to do) but I don’t want to forget my health and beauty essentials. And once I get to my hotel there are a few things I like to do on my stay.

Don’t stop taking your vitamins and beauty essentials.
Removing your makeup…

Don’t remove your makeup with their pristine and clean white washcloths. This costs the hotel lots of money. Makeup… especially mascara and foundation can really destroy washcloth and towels quick. Be mindful. While I don’t recommend using makeup wipes to remove your makeup daily. They can really be convenient when on the go.

Nothing like a bath! 🛀

I don’t forget to pack some bath and shower essentials! Spongelle has great aromatic and skin softening sponges you can enjoy in a shower or in a bath. So luxurious! When I’m done I pack it in a baggie and take home to reuse on my next trip or at home.

I also like to pack Epsom salts and bath bombs. Last trip I packed a CBD bath bomb and it was THE BOMB! If you don’t usually take a bath and are a shower person. Live a little indulge in a bubble bath! Your body will love ❤️ you for it!

Is multipurpose!

Body wash or shower gel in your hotel room is not only great for the body in a shower it can give you a relaxing aromatherapy bath!

Sink washing machine!

And that same body wash is great to rinse your lingerie if you need to. You gotta think outside the box.

These are just a few things and hacks I do. I hope you enjoyed them too!

Hong Kong PART 2

IMG_4465.JPG

I so loved all the amazing tea shops and small business owners selling all kinds of cups of tea! Known as CHA.

But my absolute fav’ place was for tea was at The Peninsula Hotel in Hong Kong 🇭🇰 .The Peninula’s legendary Afternoon Tea is they say a ritual routed in British Custom with the Duchess of Bedford originally bringing afternoon 🍵 in vogue in 1830. Today the Grande Dame of Hong Kong honors this general tradition by elevating the art of Afternoon Tea in the legendary surrounds of the huge and grand lobby.

Here warm, buttery scones are accompanied by organic jam and clotted cream served on tiered, silver cake stands, alongside gourmet finger sandwiches and fine pastries.

My husband and I enjoyed the most delicious hot tea, warm scones, tea pastries, macarons, mini decadent chocolates ended the tea time.

Tea choices served were Assam, Darjeeling,Earl grey, Peninsula Breakfast Tea and Peninsula blend.

You could also select from: Almond, Caramel,Cinnamon, 🥭 Passionfruit, 🍑 Peach, Raspberry and 🌹 Rose teas.IMG_4134.JPG

The extra special topping was a glass of 🥂 Deutz Peninsula Brut 🍾 champagne.

It was so delightful and decadent! The grandeur of the hotel itself was quite the experience. Being in Hong King made it even better!

I glanced over at my husband mid-way of our feast and his eyes were glazed and I have not seen him so content in a long time. He like I am is almost always working. He told me he was so relaxed and found the process of enjoying Afternoon Tea very very relaxing. It was so nice to see!

I have been to High Teas in Europe and all over the US but have NEVER had a high Tea experience like in Hong Kong. The staff was wondeful too.

If you ever have to go to China on business or travel for pleasure. Try and take the time to have tea at the HK Peninsula Hotel. Well worth the luxurious and delightful trip!

I left my heart in Hong Kong!

IMG_4027.JPG HONG KONG CITY.JPGI’ve been traveling throughout China and fell in LOVE with the one and only Hong Kong. I am back in the US but still on a travel high!  However, jet lag is REAL! I had forgotten how long those international flights feel and how hard it is to get back to reality.

I fly lots. But especially on international flights! It has taken me a week and half already and am now just starting to feel like myself again.

Long flights but so worth every minute and penny!

While I didn’t know what to expect really I was pleasantly surprised. with what I found. Rich in history and so many fascinating places to visit! Hong Kong has so much to explore!

Do you know what HONG Kong means?

Fragrant Harbour or Port. Wherever you go in the city there are different scents. Food being the BEST!

I so loved the people…so friendly, kind and peaceful. The lights, exotic signs, sights, the sounds of the different Chinese dialects being spoken and the scent in the air of the different foods.

I also enjoyed my view of  Kowloon from my Renaissance Hotel  with an amazing harbour view. It was so relaxing to view and to wake up every morning too. This hotel is a MUST if you ever want to or need to go to the city. The hotel is amazing! The staff  speaks English and Chinese and are an extraordinary team of professionals from the bellmen to housekeeping. The hotel has a great quick cafe with American and Chinese delights. The restaurants in the hotel serve Asian and American meals.IMG_3761

I traveled with my usual skin care and my jade and rose quartz roller. Just in case my stomach acts up or complexion isn’t perfection I bring Probiotics with me. My fave is Belle+Bella. I also travel with sheets masks and eye gel pads. And I made sure to drink PLENTY of bottled water. And hot green Asian tea!

I highly recommend and enjoyed the Star Ferry which took us from the Hong Kong side across the harbour to the other side to Kowloon. Only .50 cents in Hong Kong money for a lovely 8 minute ride.

I also adored riding on and the sound of the rail cars they use and the city affectionately calls the DING DING! So cute.IMG_4002.JPG

Shopping in Hong Kong is off the chain fabulous!

FOODIES

The Bakeries were so DELICIOUS and the different sweet breads too.

Chinese egg tarts are a must!

Cool yourself off  with a glass of sugar cane juice.

TEA of all kinds and tea shops are evrywhere. My fave’ is Jasmine tea but also Hong Kong style tea made with milk and sweetened to perfection.

clear glass tea set with honey

Warm cashew soup anyone?

The most delightful light and creamy soup I have ever had!!! If you love NUTS especially cashews this is a MUST to find and discover the taste on your palette.IMG_3690

I loved this soup so much I had two bowls!

There is also something else you smell in the air. Incense. Sandalwood scented to be exact. They burn it outside thier business doors, homes temples and more. Praising  thier Gods. I do it in the states too but it was so nice to smell it in the air and enjoy it too.IMG_3847

Well I hope you enjoyed the first few days of my trip and all to unfold before me!

Come back I have so much more to share! Have you ever traveled to HK or China?

A getaway to work and play in Marvelous MAINE!

First Stop …Press Hotel in Portland Maine…LOVED my room.Press Hotel washclothFinally I get a chance to take my notes from my recent trip to Maine.I hope you enjoy!MAINE photo

I arrived in sunshine got picked up by a Mercedes van by my hotel. The hotel is called the Press Hotel and used to be home of the local newspaper. The staff was wonderful from the moment my 5 feet 1 self  hopped in that van. The rooms are pretty amazing, clean and have what I love and look for a mini refrigerator! The bar and meeting rooms are luxe and petite. Cozy and charming kinda place. The room had a frig,a Keurig coffee unit and some delicious Bar Harbor Tea Company bags.

The staff  down to house keeping were a delight to be around and always helpful to my needs. The Press Hotel is located in downtown Portland where a lot of eateries, bars and quaint shops and the waterfront is.

One of my other fav’ bath and body delights was the amenity tray filled with CO Bigelow products and adding to that impressive array was a BLACK wash cloth that had MAKEUP engraved lettering on it.This was the best part as white wash cloths are a big expense for hotels and destroyed by hotel guests daily from makeup or other unexpected messes.Using a black one to remove mascara and makeup keeps the hotels laundry bill down a notch and you can remove your makeup without looking at a big makeup colored mess on a white wash cloth.  I have been using black washcloths at home and in my beauty business for ears. Finally I found a hotel who uses them too.

TOP of my Maine list is to let you know the people of Maine are so friendly! And it is a very clean state.

Here are highlights from my trip!

My stay at the Press Hotel

Holy Donut (OMgosh) these potato flour donuts were absolutely wonderful and so unique and light. And did I mention ginormous?

Gilberts Chowder House makes the BEST Chowder I HAVE EVER TASTED!

There was lots of window shopping! And of course I had to buy some local treasures. But not ones you think. I used to buy souvenirs with the state or cities name on them. No more. I now buy things that are really local and indigenous of the area. Not mugs or ash trays with the states name on it but something more meaningful.

This trip I purchased a small bottle on a silver wire hanger for my bathroom window. I love to take herb clippings from my larger plants and place them in water and root them. Herbs like mint, rosemary and then after they root I can place in soil and start a new plant for my home. I also like to take those clippings and snip and use in my bath or a D.I.Y. facial treatment.Downtown Portland has some cozy lovely shops!

Fun Fact:

The Whoopie pies mesmerize and were ginormous.

They serve a bread call Brown Bread and it is made with molasses. But you don’t buy it at the bakery you buy it down the canned food aisle next to the pork and beans. So delicious!

Bar Harbor a few hours away is filled with so many sweet shops. My fav’ is the Bar Harbor Tea Company of Maine. The tea shop is a must for tea enthusiasts like me.

I love coffee but I also LOVE a great pot of tea!

Blueberry jam, syrup, tea, soap is BIG there. They have many blueberry and other farm fields.

LOBSTER,lobster and more lobster! My cheeks are all scratched up for the lobster tails and claws.(only kidding)

As for fashion…you don’t need to get all dolled up (Except I have to for work).  This is fishermen and women territory. I wore blue jeans and light sweaters or jackets. So unlike me. BUT it felt so freeing

I still have more to see and explore! It is a must go back.

If you’ve never been to Maine you’ll go insane…it is a lovely sweet place to escape.

The little things in life!

Hampton lips

My hotel made me smile from the moment I arrived.

The smiling face at the front desk to greet me,the fresh out of the oven cookie to take to my room and then this. Oh Happy day! A set of his and hers cups too cute for days.

It is really about the little things that come our way throughout our day. Isn’t it?

Hampton Inn how did you know I LOVE all things cookies and lips!

PS

My stay was a few days ago and I still can’t get this out of my head.

Scent Tease

Perfumed pillowcases photo

Kiss your pillow and sheets at night with your favorite scent.
Just a tease please! (Please don’t over do it).
It makes you feel good and pretty sexy too!
I love to do this on hotel room sheets and pillow cases and in my lingerie draw too.
Do you do it too?
Scent your body with a dash of fragrance and scent your beautiful world.
My husband finds it nice too especially when I am working out of town.
The subtle aroma and scent of ME makes his heart not wonder. He!He!
