De-tubing your luscious Lipsticks!

LIP MOTEL

I think some people call it depotting I call it de-tubing as we are taking remains from a lipstick tube and placing them into a container like a plastic pill box  (We makeup artists have done this for a long time and it was our beauty secret on set) But as the beauty world continues to grow and explode we now have all kinds of containers to place them in like the one above!

Why do you want to detube? Well if your fav’ lipstick is:

  • Discontinued and you want to savour the last lipstick drop?
  • Melted
  • Broke
  • Got smooshed in the cap because you forgot to roll it down all the way before capping.

12 spaces hold your discontinued, tired, oldie but goodie, melted and broken  lipsticks. Or you can actually scoop out a brand new lipstick into an empty container like this.

Step.1 Buy a container or pill pack

Step 2. Get a mini cocktail knife, mini spatula or artists palette ready and at hand.

Step 3.Line up the lipsticks you want to fill the kit with

Step 4. Wash your hands with soap and warm water or put plastic gloves on.It can get messy and you want to keep it clean and sanitary too.

Step 5.Scoop out or cut slices of your lipstick into the empty container or pill box.

Step 6. Press and pat down with your fingers or spatula each color filled space you fill.

Step 7. Place a piece of saran wrap on top and pat down some more on the saran wrap.

Step 8. Optional:Take a cheap blow dryer (not high watt) and blow across the top of the kit moving quickly and across once. This sets your lipsticks in the Lip Motel.

Remember…you don’t have to fill them all at once. A few at a time is fine.

You are all set and ready to mix and match the hues with your lip brush. The best and most fun part?

You can make NEW lipstick shades out of all these bits and pieces.

Optional Tip:

I like to FREEZE my kit in the freezer for approximately 1/2 hour or more if you’d like. Doing this will firm the lipsticks up and harden them up a bit.

*HAPPY to say my Lip Motel was featured in Jacksonville magazine July issue!

So in love with this nail lacquer!

in the cable Car- Pool OPI
Do you know what it means?

No,its not the name of that charming little boy character from the old Andy Griffith show.I am not sure how you spell his name from the show I do know that if one more person calls this iconic nail polish “O-Pee”, I think I am going to have to scream. It is pronounced by its letters OPI and it stands for….Odontorium Products Inc.
You see the first nail products were derived from the dental industry. The words comes from a Greek word meaning “of the mouth”.Think about it if it is good for your mouth it must be safe for your nails as well. That’s what an OPI representative shared with me.In fact I was told years ago that their first office was in a building that was a dental lab.

I’d like to think of the name standing for “OUTSTANDING,professional, individual because every time you have an OPI mani and pedi with a PRO that is what you are going to get. OPI nail techs and business owners LOVE and breathe all things OPI!

I so love OPI it is such a quality and fabulous nail polish. The colors come in a rainbow of shades. So many shades… so much value!

I am allergic to MOST nail lacquer and you might be too.
If you get itchy eyelids, cat scratch kind of marks on your eye lid area and face from touching your eyes and face from a new manicure or polish at home…You might be allergic to your current nail lacquer. What I discovered is that OPI works for me and my skin too!

No matter what your mood OPI has a hue for you!
This hot hue is a shade from the new San Francisco Collection isn’t it rich and gorgeous?

Nails have never been more in!
Paint the town red, pink or with flecks of gold too and have fun doing it.

Everyone asks me…My OPI fav’ for party looks, brides and more~

OPI Soft Shade nail polishes whisper romance, sophistication, and style.
They range from delicately feminine pinks, creams, violets, roses, and whites and are  the ideal choice for beautiful brides hands to say “I do”.

Princesses who are going to the prom OR just feel like they are A PRINCESS  look good in them too!

Chic, clean looking and pretty amazing shades!

Talk to me and tell me …What are your favorite OPI hues and why do you like them on you!?
