It’s the MOST craziest time of the year!

Wow! I never expected the last few weeks to be filled with so much adventure! NO comfort and joy for me. I know I’ve been MIA … it’s so unlike me!

But I wanted to fill you in on why I have not been blogging. I’ve been traveling for work. Puerto Rico, Santa Barbara, LA and beautiful Palm Beach. I love traveling and exploring wether it’s work or play. Airplanes are my happy 😊 place!

First there was a late in the season hurricane in 🌴 Florida.

Then while that was brewing I got sick with an upper respiratory infection. Thank goodness no flu or Covid.

Next I got attacked by three angry 🐝 wasps! Three different times!!! While minding my own business. It was bad.

All with Shop Small Saturday events at my studio and my Holiday Open House 🏡 weekend for my beauty cottage. Needless to say… I’m exhausted from all of this and the steroids I had to take too.

But I wanted you to know I have not forgotten about you and my blog too.

Stay tuned … I’ll be back.

Stress Less Tips!

In a hurricane , tropical storm or just life now… we NEED comforting.

Here are some of my personal tips to help!

❤️ Take a warm comforting bath before the storm or you lose electricity. Or if the storm passes you or just any day chill out in a bath 🛀 even if you are a shower person. IT will make you feel better!

Add a few flowers 🌸 or rose 🌹 petals & it’s pure bliss!

I like to use Epsom salt and a few dashes of essential oil. Rose, lavender or lemon. I like to add shower gel to the tub for bubbles.

(Not crafters oil fragrance) The real thing!

❤️ This is NOT the time to go on a diet! Eat and drink things that comfort you. Bake some cookies from scratch. Make a pot of cozy hot chocolate or Chai tea.

Yum!
Rest up!

❤️ Try taking a nap or at least try and get a good nights sleep. It really helps with stress! It also is so good for your health!

❤️ Or give each other a massage. The scalp, shoulders, hands or feet. Even the family can get in on the fun.

Massage oil from your kitchen!

Practice a bit of meditation. Or start yoga. I have not been doing it for many years but I have added it to my life. It makes such a big difference.

❤️ Meditation 🧘‍♀️ calms the mind. If you don’t what to do. Just be still and quiet. Surround yourself with a salt lamp or a faux candle. Illuminate your space.

Soothe your spirits!

❤️ I’m not a doctor but my massage therapist and doctors over the years suggested I take one magnesium supplement at night. They say it relaxes the body and acts like a muscle relaxant. I practice that and it is quite effective. Sweet Dreams!

❤️ Spray your sheets or towels with lavender oil or peppermint oil. One calms and the peppermint lifts spirits.

❤️ Still feeling stress ? Chew gum or enjoy a hard candy. I love a candy brand called Jolly Ranchers!

❤️ Keep hydrated! Drinking Water 💦 is your body’s best friend. But a little Prosecco helps too. Or whatever floats your boat!

If you have a tip that you’d like to share with me. I’d love to hear from you.

I hope a few of these tips help and comfort you! Hurricane if not. We ALL need to take comfort.

Eau de beauty of Perfume

I am stuck indoors waiting for the monster hurricane in Florida. We are all trying to keep our minds busy and may be in the dark with no lights, air conditioner and not able to leave beyond our front door. As a Northerner I am not used weathering a hurricane. VERY STRESSFUL. However,  I am keeping  busy organizing and cleaning and my beautiful  fragrance tray is getting my attention. wiping down and shining each bottle and the spritzer with a dash of alcohol to freshen them up.

I realized I have not given much love to some of the fragrances  as they look barely used. A word to the wise. GIVE YOUR FRAGRANCES some LOVE and USE THEM.

They lose their potency and formulas if you let them just sit there. Wether you made a fragrance from scratch or store bought. They must be rotated and used up.

Here are a few tips I have learned working in Bloomingdales and Macy’s in Manhattan as one of fragrance spritzer girls!

  • Shop for fragrance when you are in the MOOD to buy a new one..
  • Hit the fragrance counters when it is midday. Your sense of smell is the sharpest. DON’T put on fragrance before you go.
  • I like to use those little paper blotters to check out a fragrance first.
  • If coffee beans are available at the counter (or ask the sales associate) SNIFF them inbetween testing and sniffing to clear your nose of the previous scent.
  • TEST only three fragrances …no more! Or you will be confused and your nose tricked. Apply one on one wrist and spritz on theother. Next try the third on the inner part of your arm.
  • IF you don’t like a fragrance and find it smells not so pretty on your skin…remove it as fast as you can with soap and water OR a cotton ball blotted with rubbing alcohol.
  • Ask for free samples…and try them out for a tleast a few days. Not just one time. your mood may change and you may not like the fragrance afterall once day three comes. You don’t want to waste money $$$ on a fragrance purchase you’ll regret.
  • I find ther best time to apply fragrance is after a bath or shower.
  • Spritz on your pulse points, inner wrists, ankles, throat area and a dash at the decolette.
  • Bottom line…fragrance doesn’t last forever so enjoy it and finsih up all those beautiful bottles.
  • To see my personal collection of fragrances from Russia,Poland,China,Japan and the US.  See my fragrant tray on Instagram @noreenkissyoung
  • FYI I love spraying a love note card to my husband with my fragrance spritzed on it and place it in his luggage when he travels out of town.
  • Every day we are alive is a special day! Don’t wait to use your expensive perfume, best Chinaware, silverware or bedding. Enjoy them every day. You’ll be glad you did.

Survived that Bitch Hurricane Irma!

jacksonville

OH WHAT A WEEK!

I just got back electricity Thursday night and had lost electricity Sunday when the hurricane  hadn’t even arrived! I was petrified all the way while my southern husband was taking it calmly. Flooding all around us. The palm trees swayed like rubber bands in the wind.

You can imagine how SEXY and all dolled up I was looking and smelling even with cold showers. It was rough!!!

It was probably one of the worst ones I have ever endured and it didn’t end well. While  I am grateful to be alive,in good shape and we still have a roof over our heads and my sweet beauty cottage survived!

Hurricanes are exhausting and the stress shows on your body and remains on your face.

Please CONTINUE to Pray for Florida and the other places hit by the storm….we need it.My friends and some clients STILL DON’T HAVE power or means to take a warm bath or shower.Gas was a problem and so was food but slowly people were able to open their small and large businesses.

What I also realize is I continue to be one tough cookie and  with a luscious lipstick I can conquer all!

Not very pretty!

Did I ever mention that I can’t swim?

And Hurricane Irma is headed right at me and others in Florida! No, WE are not evacuating my southern husband wants to stay and ride it out.I pray we make it! I’ll try and keep you posted and write. BUT if we lose power I obviously cannot.

IRMA is not very pretty! She has one giant eye, holes on her face and wrinkles!

And she doesn’t even wear lipstick! Can you believe it?umbrella-hurricane-blog-10-2017The calm before the BITCH !!!

Please please please pray for me and Florida and anyone in this storms path.

xoxo

Survived the hurricane in Florida!

umbrella-hurricane-blog-10-2017

It is the day after the hurricane and I couldn’t be happier. We survived and our house was not touched. The palm tree palms are all over the lawn and leaves but that is it. We did not lose electricity and in our area we always do when a storm hits. Many of my friends and clients have no electricity at all.We were LUCKY.

Our neighbor across the street has a house with a tree in it now!

After the city officials told us that we could drive over bridges. We  went ahead and checked on my charming beauty cottage. No new damage since the last hurricane a month ago that we are still awaiting repair. But just as we surveyed everything in and around the property…I discovered a blown out front window.

Had to call in my handy man and he boarded up  my cottage and were all set until Monday. We were LUCKY HERE TOO as I am located in a business neighborhood not in a strip shopping center or mall. I am under a 500 year old beautiful & majestic oak tree! I am always afraid of the tree falling.Everyone thinks owning a business is so easy but it is not especially at times like these. When thing like this happen and you worry about every thing. My business is like having a child.

When we drove back home we discovered many stop lights out, trees down and lots of debris.More people with put lights and issues with their homes.

So, now were gonna chill…it has been a stressful three days.By the way, if you have never seen a hurricane. It is tough and it isn’t a just a few hours of storm it is a day a few days process and then the after the storm it is still windy and rainy.Kinda depressing too.And the weather man or woman says over and over “STAY indoors and honker down”. We don’t want to hear those words for awhile.

Hope you have a beautiful weekend whatever you do all over the world. Thanks for following my blog as usual or reading it.

I appreciate it and love sharing the days of my beauty filled life and adventures with you!
