Day 18 of MY Beauty Secrets

To give your face a pick me up in the middle of your day I find you need this!

Rosewater

It is an old Victorian beauty secret but I’m sure Cleopatra used it at some point if we look back in cosmetic history. There are several not many on the market right now. In the winter ❄️ I use it to hydrate with its mist. In the summer I keep a bottle on ice or in the fridge and spray that cool rosy mist.

OR I use it at night! Some come in a spray bottle which I prefer.

And I have seen one in a pour out bottle to use on a cotton pad. Spray is easier to use.

It gives your spirits a lift as most of us like rose 🌹 scented things. And it gives a gentle mist hydrating your skin glow. You can use it over foundation. on bare skin or after a long day and you’ve washed your face and ready to go to bed.

Many women say it calms them down.

And under a face mask with a few touch ups a day. It really can be what your skin needs.

Have you ever tried it?

Pandemic Beauty Relief!

If you are looking for a little BEAUTY and skincare relief  you are in luck. Today on TV in sunny Florida on WJXT-4  I shared a few ways you can do this. You’ll feel so much better too!

Is your skin extra oily, lifeless and a few zits got you down?

Got to a drug store and buy a sheet mask. It is a mask that is in a sheet form and goes over your face. They are filled with skin loving goodness and will make your skin look amazing. Instant gratification.

A charcoal or detox mask is black and will help control sebum which comes especially when we are under stress. Buy one of these if your skin is oily or shiny.

Please Note …they also come in a jar and you can apply it with your hands. Let it dry and rinse well. Your face will love you!

If your skin is dry or you have normal to combination skin you need a hydrating sheet mask. These masks just cost a few dollars and work wonders.

Moisturized skin is HAPPY skin!

Don’t forget to moisturize your skin. Not just some days but every day. Face covers we have begun to wear are drying to our skin and lips! So PROTECT both your face and lips.

Lips 👄 NEED love too.

Use a Vitamin E lipstick or balm and kiss your lips morning and night with it. It’s clear and mighty and you can go to sleep 😴 with it on!

If you’re going CRAZY for a haircut (like ME) DON’T cut your hair or over pluck or shave your brows…WAIT to see the professionals. That’s why we go to them they are the PROfessionals and we can make your hair, skin, nails, lashes and face look fabulous AGAIN.

Instead condition your hair with a hair treatment mask. Great for dehydrated stressed hair.

Finger nails looking rough? Nails cracking? Chipping?

Use a cuticle and nail oil. If you can’t find one at the store grab a bottle of olive oil from your kitchen. Pour into a squeeze bottle and nourish those cuticles and nail beds.

At home most of the time doesn’t mean we can’t enjoy the beauty of a lipstick 💄 or lipgloss. A little kiss of color goes a long way. So swipe away and brighten your mouth and your face!

Hope you enjoyed these tips. We’re all in this together… and we’re all looking and feeling a little frayed around the edges.

Have a beautiful day!

America will look beautiful again!

As you take in and soak in every minute of summer in the sun 🌞 your skin will get dry and look it too. A simple mask I love to do and highly recommend cause it is a natural beauty recipe too. A dermatologist shared this recipe with me.

This home-made skin smoothie and soother is as near as your kitchen.

All you need is:

1 ripe avocado (I prefer organic)

1 tablespoon of local organic  honey

Mash the avocado and spoon in the honey. Stir together. Apply to your face and decollette. Leave on the face at least 5 minutes.

Rinse well with a lukewarm water and a washcloth.

Your FACE will love you back and feel lovely!

You can use this recipe year round but it is wonderful around this time of year.

How to use a LIP 💋 mask

I love love love  the new gel and tissue masks for your lips in those adorable lip shapes. I use them at night before I go to bed 🛌 and when I feel like I need a hydrating lift to my lips for an evening out.

Here is how I use them.

Take your time. Don’t rush. Enjoy 😊!

  • WASH your hands well.
  • Cleanse and tone your skin.
  • Brush your teeth.
  • Wash your lips.
  • Pull the lip mask out of package with tweezers. (Or clean fingers)
  • Apply it to your lips and lightly press and pat the mask down.Make sure it is laying smooth.
  • Leave the mask on your lips for at least 15 minutes.
  • BEFORE you remove the mask … pat the remaining moisture like residue on your lip area. Do not wash your face or lips afterwards. Blot lips dry with tissue if you’d like.
  • If your lips are extra dry and flaky… Condition your lips 👄 with a lip conditioner if you’d like or simply rest.

Cool Yourself Off!

Baby it’s so HOT outside! And my COMPLEXION is not seeing perfection. My pores hate me and appear to be the size of swimming pools and my skin is pretty shiny in some areas and tight in others. How about you?

I have always LOVED doing a form of Cryotherapy since I was a little girl! Only the treatment had not come out yet and entered the beauty universe. Here’s how I did it. When it is hot like this I  take water fill an ice cube tray and freeze them. If you want to add fruit or flowers inside before you freeze them…go at it. It makes them prettier too!

Next your freshly clean face is ready for a cooooool delight.I apply an ice cube (I sort of warm up a few seconds in my hand so no freezer burn face) Roll around and go up and down. I do not do the eyelid. This icy treat will chill you down quick! If you are hot on the neck and breast area roll a fresh cube there too.Use until you are done with the cube or save to use another time in a bowl in the freezer.

Using  ice cubes will tighten your skin and pores, refresh your skin and cool you down. white floral ice cube

Follow this ice cube treat with a HYDRATING tall glass of water with fresh mint (spearmint or peppermint) and fresh lemon slices. The key here is not to drink it iced much or no ice at all.The digestive tract does not like REALLY ICED water or drinks. In order to detox your system from all the sweet drinks and coffee you had all week. TRY this room temperature way. In the winter we will try something else but this is great for our bodies especially nowadays in this summer season.Skip a plastic straw that’s what I do… however,I’ve discovered the beauty of paper straws and reusable straws.

The lemony with a hint of mint water is a nice refreshing way to drink water and I love to serve it to my husband, family and when company comes over. ENJOY!

A Supermodel’s Lemonade Recipe

In Florida we went from a mild winter, to  maybe 4 days of Spring and NOW summer and it isn’t not even summer! As a Northerner who moved to Florida for her southern husband I hate it. I know I should be grateful for palm trees and sunshine but the heat SUCKS!

Here is a recipe I found from InStyle magazine that I think is pretty cool in more ways than one.

I love this recipe!

1 cup of room-temperature water.

2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice

1 tablespoon of Agave nectar

1/8 teaspoon of cayenne pepperBlog photo.JPG LEMONADE

Place all in a glass. Stir and enjoy!

And it makes you pee  lots because it is hydrating, cooling and eliminating!

The beauty of this recipe is it is Aussie super-model Elle Macpherson’s lemonade drink recipe and we know how fabulous her body is along with those LONG lovely legs.

No wonder she has been on the cover of Sports Illustrated five times! Drink up and refresh yourselves!

Cool off with these!

My Skinny Water Recipe

herbs

Get Bikini ready or to wear less clothes with this cool water cocktail! I love-making this refreshing treat. So, I thought I’d share this recipe with you to enjoy for the long weekend.

It is also time to stay even more hydrated and this is one of my beauty secrets with a healthy twist. Say Bye Bye to sodas and sugary coffee drinks. Give your body what it needs. Water!

Here is what you’ll need:

1 bunch of fresh mint

1 fresh orange

1 fresh lime

1 fresh grapefruit

1 pitcher of drinking water

*ice is optional

Mint is refreshing and helps and tastes even better when you are tired or stressed out.Grapefruits are popular for their fat burning properties.Limes help remove toxins, are great for the skin and aid in losing weight. Oranges are filled with vitamin C and helps to keep you healthier.

Slice up 4 mint leaves of the above except for the mint leaves.Shred a few of the leaves and keep a few whole. Place all of these in the pitcher of fresh water. Let it rest over night or if you’d like to enjoy it today place pitcher on the kitchen counter at room temperature for at least 4-6 hours allowing the water and the fruits to infuse together.

Serve cold and ENJOY the beauty and detoxifying benefits! It is not just for helping you get your body summer ready. It is delicious and refreshing as a drink for you and the entire family or your guests at a barbecue.

I like to rim the glasses in agave nectar or a dash of honey.Or you can skip this touch of sweetness twist.

I so enjoy shopping my little garden (this is a photo of my mint plant) #shoppinglocal and visiting farmers markets.

I also buy supplies at Whole Foods. They are on the same quest I am on and I love supporting them.Let me know how you enjoy this recipe. Have a fabulous relaxing weekend!

Learn to love water…it will love to back.
