What I saw,ate and did in Las Vegas!

I love Las Vegas. It is a beautiful and fun city. And the best part like New York it has so much FREE eye candy for you to enjoy. You don’t have to spend all your time on the Strip either!

My last post I told you I was going there to guest speak at the International Esthetics Cosmetics and Spa conference. This year the show was better than ever!Alongside the show is a full pavilion called the International Beauty Show. Both are shows if you are in the business of beauty and a licensed beauty professional you do not want to miss. This year we got an extra bonus…The Comic Con show was there. I saw all kinds of characters. From devils to Winnie the Poo to sexy sirens.In 113 to 117 degrees I admired the passion for the world of comic books.

Trends come and go but the biggest trend I continue to see and grow is the look of healthy skin and  the care of the skin.I tried all kinds of lotions,potions,hydrated by a new sheet mask  by the ever popular Image Skincare and skin feeling softer and loved.The ever popular Savvy Sleepers pillowcase rocks your skin with anti-aging smooth benefits. Protects your skin from more wrinkles and saves your hair and extends expensive blowouts all while you sleep. Especially from the aromatherapy spa product aisle. The smell of lavender,peppermint and more filled the show floor.

 

Another trend that continues to rise is COLOR.It was everywhere on the faces of makeup artists in my classes and on the show floor and at makeup booths. HAIR was colorful too. I saw all the colors of the rainbow kinda hair. It was AMAZING. My fave’ were the luscious world of lipsticks and glosses. Aqua,pink,coral,yellow,purple lipsticks are so on trend and sure to make you happy hues.Let’s not forget that nail polish continues to be in all shades to tempt you. I LOVE the fact that our world has become so color filled. Remember when our beauty world only offered safe colors like soft pink,pearly white and beige. How about when our blow dryers only came in boring gray? Well no more.

My classrooms were filled with eager to learn beauty professionals,spa and salon owners.I love what I do and travel too. After the show I was STARVING and needed to hydrate up and had to stop to my fave place for a for a burger and fries. Smothered in yum and made in the kitchen with LOVE. And a sip one of their shakes…Pink Strawberry. You know how I love pink!

I like to venture away from the strip where the locals who live there go. Not all your meals have to be in swanky expensive  I enjoyed the ever fabulous In and Out Burger where I ordered off their secret menu…ANIMAL style Fries ( see photo)

I also enjoyed exotic  meals from Orchids Garden where they serve ALL DAY Dim Sum! If you haven’t had is Chinese Brunch. The food is so fresh and the staff there is so friendly. Save some room as you might also want to try the coconut bun which is dessert that is perfect with a hot cup of jasmine or green tea.

Who doesn’t LOVE to shop? While I like the SHOPPING on the strip I also like to head to PRIMM at the outlet mall. They have some fabulous shops like Tommy Bahama,Charlotte Rousse,Coach and more.

ALL at fabulous DISCOUNT $$$$$$ prices …You won’t find on the strip.

I bought some Tommy Bahama tops and bathing suit for my husband. Gorgeous bracelets for me,sandals,perfume and a few LV souvenir gifts all for $197.00

The Beauty of NYC

…Is that there are all kinds of people,food and a fun fast paced life. I love the electric energy and hustle back home in NYC.

Last weekend New York got even more beautiful when the ladies and gentlemen in the business of beauty came from all over the globe for the one and only International Beauty Show (hair and nails with a touch of makeup),The International Esthetics, Cosmetics and Spa Conference (skin, makeup and wellness) They came to see …What’s New, What’s Hot and What’s Next. I was asked to guest speak again. What a great class. Seeing spa and salon owners sitting at the edge of their seat ready to learn something new and to hear what I have to say too is wonderful. I so love teaching business owners and professionals like these.

The hair show is a step on the wild side. Fantasy meets fun equals latest trends. The spa and wellness side is filled with latest skin care, skin tech tools, anti-aging and wellness.

This Spring 2013 is an anything goes kinda season. COLOR is everywhere! Color in hair with dye and with hair chalk like we played with chalk on the sidewalk when we were kids the hair is chalked with fantasy colors that wash out. Colorful shades to dye for!

SKIN IS SO IN and skin care is #1 if you want your makeup to look flawless…try skin care products with new ingredients like pearl power,bamboo,caffeine,argon oil,shea butter and jojoba to name a few. Clarisonic sonic cleanser is still rocking the skin care industry.

If you haven’t been to NYC and only watched the Macy’s Thanksgiving parade on TV…you MUST add it to your list of things to do and places to see!

Lights, Camera, Beauty!

The City shined and was even prettier when the International Beauty show AND IECSC shows arrived in town. Anyone whose anybody in the land of beauty, lotions and potions…came to the city from ALL OVER THE WORLD.

As for the show, the booths were filled with beautiful ideas, bright colored products and gorgeous looks on models. This is the educational beauty red carpet event that I am not only honored to speak at but to attend every year.

The stage presentations dazzled with glitz and glam. While it rained outside the professionals, spa owners and salon owners poured inside to stock up on the latest and greatest in beauty. They also attended mega amounts of classes to show them HOW-TO’s, business support and new ideas to make their client’s look and feel amazing! 

Here is what’s HOT NOW: 

• Anything bright from makeup, to makeup brushes to hair tints and more.
•  Hair had an anything goes kind of attitude but healthy and shiny hair rocked the shows.
• Argon and Moroccan oil still are on trend.
• Long lasting shiny pretty nails in candy coated colors ruled.
• Colored hair extensions reigned supreme fun!
• Skin has never been more in~FarmHouse Fresh made our skin feel delicious!
• Makeup was hot hued… colored liners, colored eye shadows and mascaras too.

• It was one big cocktail party of beauty!

 If you are a FAN of Real Housewives of Atlanta, you would have been green with envy. No, I did not rub elbows with the Nee Nee and the girls. I met the one and only DWIGHT the Colin Cowie of Atlanta. Event and party planner and fashionista galore. He was warm and posed for photos like a MODEL celebrity pro!

After three glorious days of two fabulous beauty shows, I spent time all around NYC with my sisters and friends. Ate dim sum until my Spanx puffed out and enjoyed my fav’ delicious places all around the city.  I also spaaaaaaaaaaahed just in time for SPA week. I got buffed and sloughed with a peaches and cream glow at the The Origo Spa, a hidden treasure in Chinatown. Little Italy for a creamy cappuccino and a decadent cannoli rocked my mouth. Now, back I am in a “fog of beauty”.
