Las Vegas IS always fabulous!

Been so busy since I came back from Las Vegas I finally had a moment to tell you about my beauty filled and foodie trip. I got to go with my sweetie so that’s always good. It wasn’t as hot this year as it usally is in the 100 degree and more mark. I never get tired of Las Vegas and go a few times a year.

I guest spoke at the International Esthetics Cosmetics and Spa Conference.

My class went well and I love the eager to learn audience of makeup artists, estheticans, plastic surgeons and Boss Babes.IMG_5302

I enjoyed and sat in on some other classes TO LEARN too but my fave part of any beauty conference is always  discovering what is on the show floor! Shopped til I dropped. I discovered a few new brands and tools I will share with you in the next few blog posts too.

Healthier Looking SKIN is still in! And so are all kinds of beauty devices and facial tools for anti-aging but they are sold to beauty professionals in the spa or plastic surgeons and dermatologists offices. Where they need to be. I think sometimes these at home machines and pro devices are best used by the PROFESSIONAL. Putting the wrong device in the consumers hands can harm you especially if you don’t know what you are doing.

💄 Makeup is sparkling with all things glam and glitter.

I enjoyed my usual foodie spots for food away from the strip where the locals like to go. And at the top of that food list is the infamous In & Out Burger and animal fries too!

I stayed on an extra day to RELAX  and to join Las Vegas Now’s  host Courtney Perna again. So happy to join her again as she’s always fun to work with and quite a show host… loaded with personality! This time my segment was  Asian Beauty Secrets Revealed. Having just been to Korea and China I had a few unique things to share with their TV viewers. The best part of the segment was rolling an Asian Skin Smoothing and Relaxing face roller with her for fun on Boomerang.IMG_5450

This cool little tool is still on a roll in China and now the USA. Using it is so cool and refreshing and the beauty benefits surely beats a face lift… any day!

Asian Royalty used it for centuries now it has made it to main stream from China. Great for those of you who love all things anti-aging. Revs up circulation and they do so much.

Have you ever seen unusual fruit at an Asian market and wondered what they are?

Dragon fruit and Durian are delightful to eat or add in a smoothie for younger looking skin and overall good health. Don’t be afraid to explore what’s not familiar to you and taste what you never tried before.

Asian women I interviewed on the streets of Hong Kong also shared with me that infamous Pearl Powder. Sold by the box in little vials you almost think you are buying something white powdery and illegal. But it is not. It is a powder when mixed with water makes an amazing skin brightening and tightening face mask. The women use this beauty find that is handed down from generations.

Wishing  I were back in the Orient I had a craving for Dim Sum (Chinese Brunch) that is in some places served all day. I adore the owner, staff and food at Orchids Garden. So, authentic and delightful! About 8 MINUTES from the Las Vegas strip. They serve it on hot oven carts. So delicious and you won’t break the bank.DIM SUM IMG_5278

Shopping in Las Vegas is always fun. You can shop on the strip or go out and drive half an hour to an outlet mall called in Prim. They have a Tommy Bahama Outlet my husband so loves. I enjoy the H & M outlet and other discount shops.

By the airport there is also fabulous shopping experience (not just on the strip) and since I am addicted to all things containers and tidying up… The Container Store is also there! I don’t have one in my city so I try and shop one when I travel. After you’re done stop at the center and have a cocktail or go to grab a bite at The Lazy Dog restaurant. The first time I ever had sweet potato tater tots. Everything made from scratch and from the farm! Food …so fresh.

And by the way, if you’re into cannabis. They have licensed recreational dispensaries there now. It is legal.

Next time you travel ✈️ to Las Vegas check out some of these spots. You don’t need a ton of money or gamble to enjoy Las Vegas. I can’t wait to go back in a few months.

I’ve always had a beautiful experience!

Backstage Beauty

IMG_4365.jpg

This morning I took the TV viewers on River City Live to a Backstage BEAUTY Pass… to Fashion week.

Makeup artists who work behind the scenes work tirelessly painting, primping, pampering and and above all hydrating the skin!

It is all about the skin. If the skin does not look it’s best the makeup won’t look the best.

TwinMedix: These essentials got some complexions on the right track with an advanced skin care collection!

Embryolisse: A French delight that models and makeup artist can’t get enough of for gorgeous skin.

Danessa Myricks Beauty: Her Beauty Oils and Dew Balm gives the skin the glowiest look!

Waleda Skin Food: Is another moisturizing lotion that some models request.

Sheet masks from Korea were yet another instant prettier skin fix!

Jade and  Rose Quartz gemstone eye and face rollers: were used to relax the face and make the makeup glide on like silk after a moisturizer or serum was applied.

I’ve even seen silver spoons used in an ice bath and applied to the face for puffy complexions at fashion shows! Or the makeup artists use spoons dry and at room temperature ones are used to curl the eyelashes.stainless steel spoon

Rosebud Salve: A pro FAVE’ was used for unruly tresses, chapped lips and to give the skin a glowy look. This is in my makeup kit too.

The NO MAKEUP Makeup Look made a big appearance BUT it takes makeup and lots of work to achieve the look.

Aquaphor is another lip and face product that is seen behind the scenes.

Makeup Brushes: There are plenty used and  in all shapes and sizes. There is a brush and sponge for every part of the face and body. Powder puffs rule too!

One of brands of nail polish used was Essie. Who doesn’t love it? One of the hot hues used was Licorice. A deep gray black shade of sexy.

Mr. Eyeliner a set of cosmetic pencils was used on the faces on the models by Jasmine Ortiz MUA on a fashion show featuring  Kilane Collection by celeb fashion designer Pamela Quinzi . Photographed by @rjensalada_21 on Instagram

There’s magic in Jade & more!

cropped-img_7371.jpgToday is Chinese New Year…the year of the rooster.  I have been pampering my clients faces and pouts with the magic of jade all day.

You don’t have to be Asian to celebrate the lunar new year and all things Asian beauty!

I also love to celebrate the next 15 days of the Chinese New Year with other beauty rituals and of course FOOD glorious Asian food.

I am Cholish…

This makes me Chinese and Polish. I love being a combination platter!

If you don’t know… Chinese, Japanese and above all K-Beauty (Korean Beauty) are all the rage.Especially when it comes to beauty rituals!

Go to your pantry or nearest Asian grocery store. Get some Chinese Take-Out and brew some hot tea starting this weekend to celebrate the lunar New Year, which begins TODAY  Saturday January 28, 2017.

Treat yourself to a festive meal and a trip to the orient without leaving the city! You might even want to invite your bestie!

Asian women I have interviewed from Hong Kong to Korea all agree…

Tea is an everyday beauty ritual. All kinds of tea from Chinese Oolong tea to Korean Barley tea. To fight off cancer they love green tea. To give them energy and stamina they drink ginseng tea. There is even a tea for inner cleansing and detoxifying tea.

Note: They usually do not use sugar or sweet and low in their tea.

Did you know that tea also freshens breath and keeps your gums healthy too? Allow me to turn you on to a delightful type tea. Jasmine tea is both delicious, smells and tastes divine. You must try it.

Rice is a favorite food in their diet as well. It fills you up faster and low in fat so you tend to eat less. Soups as main meals are another way to eat and stay trim. They fill the bowl with chicken or beef stock and toss in fresh veggies. What a delightful explosion of tastes! My fave rice is aromatic jasmine rice.* If you are looking to lose a a few pounds…try eating with chopsticks!

Korean women use up to 10 products on their face a day! They double cleanse their skin daily. They also love sheet masks. They have a mask for almost everything! Face, lips, eye area, neck, hair, feet and thighs. Some are made with crushed pearls, fruit, veggies and essence of snails (yikes). All to make them look their best.

Japanese girls love the benefits of a face mask made with nightingale droppings. That means bird poop! However, they swear by it for gorgeous flawless skin.

Jade Face Skin Smoothing Roller: Asian Royalty has used it for years. Excellent when you roll this cool tool on the face for revitalizing the skin by bringing the blood to the surface. It is also very relaxing. One side is for eyelid area and other side for face. You have to feel it to believe its magic. I am addicted.

Pearl Cream is a beauty must have. To this day Chinese and Vietnamese girls and women use this ant-aging ancient secret cream. It is made of crushed pearls and other emollients. It is opaque in color, melts on your fingers when applied to the face, and becomes translucent. It helps brighten the complexion by lightening sunspots and keeps the skin moist and hydrated. It smells as if you visited a flower garden.

Rice powder an oriental silky powder sets your makeup, helps your makeup up last longer and tones down shine. If you have problem with always being hot or have oily skin it also helps to prevent makeup meltdown. It can be used by itself on your skin or over makeup base. It can be unisex. It is applied with a Kabuki powder brush.

It also comes in a powder to go version. A little notebook of 70 papers comes to this business card like booklet. It powders the face as well as blots oil. They are called Asian Powder Papers.

Shark fin supplements and other herb shop potions are recommended to keep their fountain of youth. Even the celebrities are doing it. They say Nicole Kidman the actress takes them to keep her skin looking gorgeous and younger looking.

Dragon fruit: As argan oil is the new buzz in skin care so is the dragon fruit for our skin cells. This pink delight does wonders for the complexion when added to skincare or by eating it. It looks kinky and is a gorgeous pink hue with shooting green things coming from it. Sweet to eat!

My recipe for a cheap D.I.Y Jasmine Rice Face Mask:

  •  Take a cup of rice, rinse gently.
  • Next, pour the rinsed rice into a clear small bowl with enough water to cover it. Wait until a milky residue appears. This is your face mask. (They call them Water Masks)
  • On a clean face, place the milky watery solution from the rice on your face with a drenched cotton pad. Let it dry.
  • Rinse with a luke warm washcloth and warm water. It will brighten your skin and your skin will feel like silk from this face treat.

The fountain of youth and pretty is at your fingertips.

Explore some of the above Oriental delights.

Life is an adventureexplore beyond your door!
