My Aloe Beauty Hack!

IMG_2916.JPG

I love growing aloe plants and have them in my home in my kitchen,my bathroom and outside my front door. I also grow them in my beauty studio garden. Lately, I am showing my clients how to rescue a sunburn with a fresh aloe plant or store bought bottle of aloe vera gel.

But my favorite aloe skin care hack is to use the juicy love goodness from the inside of the aloe leaf! All you do is cut a small slit on the side of the leave and squeeze…apply on clean skin. It is great to use a plant based oil free moisturizer and can be used UNDER makeup or alone on the face.

In an instant! And so cheap!

If  YOU have a skin care hack you’d like to share with me…Please do!  I LOVE hearing from you and I will reply.

I love…Rosemary! She is…

My faces go to!

When this steamy HOT weather gets my spirit’s and face down. I reach for my rosemary plant outside my office and or house door.photo Rosemary

I put on a pot of hot water as if I am making a pot of pasta.

Next I bring it to a boil.

I pull of a few pieces of rosemary and add a cut up a few lemon slices too.

Add it to the hot pot of water.

Let the two dance together in the water that has boiled.

Shut off the pot. Place a small kitchen towel over your head and let the steam rise to meet your face. DO NOT place face close to water. All you want is the steam to rise and detox your pores, loosen up dead skin cells and clear out your nasal passages.

Follow with a mud mask,rinse and moisturize.Enjoy!

This combination makes an aromatic delightful scent your face and nasal passages will love! My face is happy again.

Have fun making your own facial steam baths without going to the spa. Do share with me your own steamy facial concoctions!!!

Ugly be gone!

Who knew something you usually use to eat with could help with puffy eyes?

Sometimes I wake up and the skin on and around my eyes is swollen. This could happen for many reasons but whatever caused it isn’t the problem, getting rid of the tired look is the hard part. What I have learned to do with that is keep two regular, metal, dining spoons in the freezer. I like to leave them in there all the time because I never know when I’ll need them, but they only need to be in there long enough to get to the temperature of the freezer. When they are ready, run them under some room temperature water just for a second so they will not stick to your skin, and apply the back side of the spoon to each eyelid or wherever you feel puffy. Leave it on for about 10 minutes or so and the ugly is gone!

Beauty of Black Rice Facial

Black Rice is an amazing skin tightening moisturizing mask from your kitchen. You know by now I am a beauty and foodie lover. Not all beauty comes from the store. You can whip up some treasures in your kitchen.

I create the mask with the following:

1 Cup of Black Rice

1 cup of distilled water

Soak the rice in the water for a few hours or even better overnight. Take the watery dark lilac water from the mixture of the two and place on a cotton ball. Apply to your clean face. Leave on 20 minutes. Let dry and apply makeup and go out on the town or rinse, moisturize and go to sleep.

You’LL WAKE UP with softer, tighter skin and love your skin.

Can be used once a week or once a month.

*Obviously, if you are allergic to rice do not try this mask. My recipes are meant to enjoy on the cheap but never make with ingredients you are allergic to.
