Is your lipstick making your lips DRY?

Beauty has had an explosion of  lip stains, three application and product steps and other matte and drying lipsticks. Just remember not all lip stains are created equal and some seem to make lips dry no matter what. Since I have an addiction for lipsticks and all things lips I have had my share of testing, tasting and applying all kinds and brands of lipsticks.

Here is a recipe for a pretty amazing sugary delight for your lips!

1 cup white sugar

½ cup coconut oil

6 drops of lemon essential oil or less

*Make it fun and add a few drops of pink food coloring or even Kool-aid!

Apply to freshly washed wet lips and go back in forth with your pinkie. Leave on at least 10 minutes. You’ll want to eat it but don’t. Instead fill this in a small jam jar or whatever little glass jar you may have.

Rinse with lukewarm water and a washcloth. Next apply your fave lip balm.

I love recycling and re-purposing  jars and other cute containers. It is so chic to be green. This recipe will make a few jars. This recipe may be used on your lips or your daughters or granddaughters lips.  Shelf life in refrigerator is a few weeks.

Don’t let the summer get away until you’ve tried this pink and lemony skin softening delight.

The Beauty of NYC

IMG_7733r Candy Girl Collection…Is that there are all kinds of people, food and a fun fast paced life. I love the electric energy and hustle back home in NYC.

Last weekend New York got even more beautiful when the ladies and gentlemen in the business of beauty came from all over the globe for the one and only International Beauty Show (hair and nails with a touch of makeup),The International Esthetics, Cosmetics and Spa Conference (skin, makeup and wellness) They came to see …What’s New, What’s Hot and What’s Next. I was asked to guest speak again. What a great class. Seeing spa and salon owners sitting at the edge of their seat ready to learn something new and to hear what I have to say too is wonderful. I so love teaching business owners and professionals like these.

The hair show is a step on the wild side. Fantasy meets fun equals latest trends. The spa and wellness side is filled with latest skin care, skin tech tools, anti-aging and wellness.

This Spring 2013 is an anything goes kinda season. COLOR is everywhere! Color in hair with dye and with hair chalk like we played with chalk on the sidewalk when we were kids the hair is chalked with fantasy colors that wash out. Colorful shades to dye for!

SKIN IS SO IN and skin care is #1 if you want your makeup to look flawless…try skin care products with new ingredients like pearl power, bamboo, caffeine, argon oil, shea butter and jojoba to name a few. Clarisonic sonic cleanser is still rocking the skin care industry.

Nails, fingers and toes take center stage! Choose from shades like cotton candy, lovely lilac, light gray, pure white, goldfinger, silver, coral and all shades of green to blue! There are beads, stones and crystals added. The nails are like works of art. Truly NOT your grandma’s nail polish!

MAKEUP is both pretty and pretty wild! There are a rainbow of shades to choose from to brighten up your eyes and define them too.Eyeliner comes in all forms from gerl liners, to liquid pen liners. The smoky eye is more colorful and not only black and the cat eye is colorful too.

Want long rapidly growing lashes? Try Rapid Lash they say you’ll have lush lashes in no time.

Mascara TUBES are still in and give a soft and natural lash look. Not spider girl eyes.

Paint your pout with HAPPY shades of all things pink and flirty coral shades.LIPSTICK has never been hotter.Gloss is still shiny fun and Lip Tars with rich pigments add mega rich color to the lips. Lip stains rule!

Speaking of lips…you can’t have a supersmile and sexy lips without Supersmile toothpaste. It whitens and brightens your teeth to let your gorgeous lipstick shine through.Dental care is just as important as your lipstick!

COLOR is alive and kicking in fashion too! I shopped till I dropped and window shopped the famous Barney’s New York, Henri Bendel,Bloomingdale’s,Macys,Saks Fifth Avenue,Bergdorf’s and the small sweet boutiques all over the city. If you haven’t been to NYC and only watched the Macy’s Thanksgiving parade on TV…you MUST add it to your list of things to do and places to see!

Well, what are you waiting for? Grab your purse and get going.Shop on and color your faces, fingers and toes with some FUN! Find something fashionable in a new mint, coral or blue sea shades and ENJOY!
