Stress Less Tips!

In a hurricane , tropical storm or just life now… we NEED comforting.

Here are some of my personal tips to help!

❤️ Take a warm comforting bath before the storm or you lose electricity. Or if the storm passes you or just any day chill out in a bath 🛀 even if you are a shower person. IT will make you feel better!

Add a few flowers 🌸 or rose 🌹 petals & it’s pure bliss!

I like to use Epsom salt and a few dashes of essential oil. Rose, lavender or lemon. I like to add shower gel to the tub for bubbles.

(Not crafters oil fragrance) The real thing!

❤️ This is NOT the time to go on a diet! Eat and drink things that comfort you. Bake some cookies from scratch. Make a pot of cozy hot chocolate or Chai tea.

Yum!
Rest up!

❤️ Try taking a nap or at least try and get a good nights sleep. It really helps with stress! It also is so good for your health!

❤️ Or give each other a massage. The scalp, shoulders, hands or feet. Even the family can get in on the fun.

Massage oil from your kitchen!

Practice a bit of meditation. Or start yoga. I have not been doing it for many years but I have added it to my life. It makes such a big difference.

❤️ Meditation 🧘‍♀️ calms the mind. If you don’t what to do. Just be still and quiet. Surround yourself with a salt lamp or a faux candle. Illuminate your space.

Soothe your spirits!

❤️ I’m not a doctor but my massage therapist and doctors over the years suggested I take one magnesium supplement at night. They say it relaxes the body and acts like a muscle relaxant. I practice that and it is quite effective. Sweet Dreams!

❤️ Spray your sheets or towels with lavender oil or peppermint oil. One calms and the peppermint lifts spirits.

❤️ Still feeling stress ? Chew gum or enjoy a hard candy. I love a candy brand called Jolly Ranchers!

❤️ Keep hydrated! Drinking Water 💦 is your body’s best friend. But a little Prosecco helps too. Or whatever floats your boat!

If you have a tip that you’d like to share with me. I’d love to hear from you.

I hope a few of these tips help and comfort you! Hurricane if not. We ALL need to take comfort.

10 Ways to Brighten Up Your Day!

About now between the catastrophic 🌍 news on TV and horrific views this week along with COVID still with us. I still can’t believe this is happening. I too am feeling a little blue. How about you?

Let’s not allow the negativity and sadness to takeover our life. Our mental health depends on it. So, we need to listen out and hear something good and do something good for (ourselves) YOURSELF.

Light a candle! Burn some sage or aromatic incense! Meditate! Pray! 🙏

Incense smells good & purifies your space!

Do a few face and body exercises. Kiss that facial stress away!

Try a little yoga or stretching exercises. If the sun is shining your way enjoy its warmth on your face and body.

Keep moving… stretch,go walk or ride a bike.

When you get out today or get out today and buy yourself something. Anything. It could simply be a $1.00 item from the dollar store. Go find a bargain!

Just treat yourself to something NEW.

Get out of the house and not just shop online!

Get an old fashioned 🍦 ice cream, gelato, mochi or popsicles at your fave place. I miss the ice cream trucks that drove thru the neighborhood and sold all kinds of ice cream delights!

Call a friend or family member spread some ❤️ love.

Write a letter or send a few cards out to people you love and that that you miss across the country!

Sit down and write ✍️ away and send love the old fashioned way!

Book an appointment for a massage! It may be last minute but you never know they might just have an opening for you!

Guys you need a massage too! My husband and I go for one monthly. FEELs so good!

Get a mani or pedi or polish change.

Treat Yourself!!

Visit a juice shop! You know where they make it fresh squeezed! So good for you and nothing like fresh fruit or veggie juice!

Be good to yourself today. It’s been a tough week for the world!

Even though it may be hard to smile today…

Be good to yourself!

Day 4 Gift Idea for HIM!

I LOVE to make a special treat for my husband, family or friends from time to time. Christmas is the perfect time of year to create one!

I go to antique malls and other stores and collect bottles and jars I like and save them for D.I.Y. gift giving.

One of my favourite stocking stuffers or gifts to give is massage oil.

big blue jar

An easy massahe oil recipe is:

1 1/2 cups of jojoba, sunflower or almond oil as the massage oil base. (depending on the size of your bottle you might need more). Add a few drops of an essential oil (pure and quality one. Not a a cheap one)  My husband has loved the relaxing lavender as well as sweet orange or sandalwood. A little essential oil goes a long way. Shake so the oil and the fragrance make love together.Add a hand written card that entitles HIM to a relaxing massage one and only you. You might want to add a candle to set the mood too.

Another well received D.I.Y. recipe is a jar of relaxing bath salts. It can be made as simple as filling a container with epsom salts and sprinkling in a few drops of eucalyptus oil and a sprig of aromatic roesmary from your garden on top.

Add a ribbon, tag with instructions on what it is and a lush sea sponge or brush and you have  completed this gift!

As I mentioned before you don’t have to spend a fortune. It doesn’t have to be a designer anything. Enjoy the little things that can turn intobig things.

The Holidays are here…Love is in the air…it’s almost Christmas. Stress less and enjoy the beauty of now!bath blur brush candles

Men… Want to feel & look good too!

KEEP CALM and MASSAGE ON!IMG_2276.JPGDon’t  MEN  want to feel and look good too?

Today on River City Live on TV in sunny Jacksonville Florida I shared easy steps in JUST for HIM. It is so important for self confidence and looking good too. Guys need to take care, use skin care and get a facial and massage too. There’s NOTHING like a massage and a deep cleansing facial!  While there are many spas and places you can get a massage and now facials…I love to go to ME… Massage Envy Spa. The therapists help you feel amazing and care for the health of your body.

My husband and I have a membership and love the way they make us feel. We go monthly! However on a daily basis  a guy needs a MANLY beauty ritual…just for his skin.

Cole Skin Care for MEN has an amazing 3-IN-1 Foaming Cleanser: It cleans, exfoliates and preps the skin.Celebrities love this line.

Cleaning Facial Pads:Deeply cleans, gently exfoliates and evens out skin tone and hydrates without alcohol.

Moisture Balm for MEN:Contains vitamins, licorice, root and coconut water. May even be used in the eye area to hydrate that skin.

A concealer in a tube is a good idea for tired looking eyes.It isn’t just for the ladies!

Got shine? Florida is so steamy now. And summer is almost here.Try blotting papers for instant cool face!

Lips need LOVE too! Hello Handsome is a lip balm just for him!

Just a few easy steps and pieces and he’s all set.

So, if you are looking for a Father’s Day treat for the man in your life or for his B-DAY think about these as gifts. Alongside making a home-made greeting card and or baking his fav’ muffins or cake.

Kitchen Beauty

photo River city live 8-2017.JPGFriday on a pop culture and entertainment show here in sunny Florida called River City Live TV I shared some of my signature beauty secrets from the kitchen or your own backyard. I thought you would enjoy them!

Make a facial steam bath…to open up your pores and sweat!

Your skin will love it. Make a pot of tea water…fill a glass bowl with some of that hot water.Rub herbs in palm of your hand a bit.Place sprigs of rosemary OR fresh spearmint inside the bowl of steamy water. Allow time for it to float and infuse the aromatics from the herb.  You can also try this D.I.Y. with other fresh herbs from your fridge or garden. Place your face near the bowl and let the steam (not water) hit your face.Do this for at least 5 minutes. Rinse your face well and use your fav’ face toner and a light moisturizer next.

In a pinch and don’t have any facial scrub at home?

Try using cornmeal from your pantry!

Take a spoonful and place in a little dish. Add some water. Make a little liquid  grain like paste. Apply on a clean face and work in gentle circular motions. Stay away from your eyes and lips. Leave on for a couple of minutes and rub again gently. I like to do this on my T-zone. Rinse well and follow up with your facial toner. This is not only great for the pores but also great for dry flaky skin as a natural exfoliant.

Got stress?

A kitchen rolling pin isn’t just for baking darlingsGet it out and have your sweetie release the stress on your back and or back of legs. Use with gentle strokes. It really does wonders. Use a dash of olive or sunflower oil for some massage oil slip (like massage therapists use). I like it better than on dry skin. When you can’t see your massage therapist this works!

Roses aren’t just good to decorate your house with they also make a floral delight for your eyes. In place of cucumbers a rose petal has soft hydrating properties. They say ancient Chinese royalty loved to do this. I prefer organic roses. All you do is take a petal and place one on each side. Rest your eyes and listen to some music or enjoy the quiet in the room. Now, remove the petals and enjoy softer skin.

I LOVE making fruit or vegetable infused water.…and drink it all day. Better than coffee or sodas and they quench your thirst and make your skin happy too. On TV I showed the viewers how to make a personal bottle of this water. I found an adorable glass with a straw built in and keep it on my desk or work area.

1 container or large pitcher of spring water

1 fresh organic kiwi sliced

1 sprig of  fresh mint

ANOTHER version simply add wedges of oranges.

Allow them to set in pitcher for at least an hour or more. This lets the above make love together and makes the water taste great. Enjoy!

*Drink at room temperature. That’s what a lot of doctors say is best to do. Not ice cold.

Remember my philosophy is not all things have to come from a store…making it yourself is fun and kinda therapeutic. I hope you’ll let me know of any ideas or recipes you like to do too! I LOVE hearing from you.

xoxo

What I saw,ate and did in Las Vegas!

photo.JPG friesI love Las Vegas. It is a beautiful and fun city. And the best part like New York it has so much FREE eye candy for you to enjoy. You don’t have to spend all your time on the Strip either!

My last post I told you I was going there to guest speak at the International Esthetics Cosmetics and Spa conference. This year the show was better than ever!Alongside the show is a full pavilion called the International Beauty Show. Both are shows if you are in the business of beauty and a licensed beauty professional you do not want to miss. This year we got an extra bonus…The Comic Con show was there. I saw all kinds of characters. From devils to Winnie the Poo to sexy sirens. In 113 to 117 degrees I admired the passion for the world of comic books.

Trends come and go but the biggest trend I continue to see and grow is the look of healthy skin and  the care of the skin.I tried all kinds of lotions, potions, hydrated by a new sheet mask  by the ever popular Image Skincare and skin feeling softer and loved. The ever popular Savvy Sleepers pillowcase rocks your skin with anti-aging smooth benefits. Protects your skin from more wrinkles and saves your hair and extends expensive blowouts all while you sleep. Especially from the aromatherapy spa product aisle. The smell of lavender, peppermint and more filled the show floor.

Another trend that continues to rise is COLOR.It was everywhere on the faces of makeup artists in my classes and on the show floor and at makeup booths. HAIR was colorful too. I saw all the colors of the rainbow kinda hair. It was AMAZING. My fave’ were the luscious world of lipsticks and glosses. Aqua, pink, coral, yellow, purple lipsticks are so on trend and sure to make you happy hues.Let’s not forget that nail polish continues to be in all shades to tempt you. I LOVE the fact that our world has become so color filled. Remember when our beauty world only offered safe colors like soft pink, pearly white and beige. How about when our blow dryers only came in boring gray? Well no more.

My classrooms were filled with eager to learn beauty professionals, spa and salon owners.I love what I do and travel too. After the show I was STARVING and needed to hydrate up and had to stop to my fave place for a for a burger and fries. Smothered in yum and made in the kitchen with LOVE. And a sip one of their shakes…Pink Strawberry. You know how I love pink!

I like to venture away from the strip where the locals who live there go. Not all your meals have to be in swanky expensive  I enjoyed the ever fabulous In and Out Burger where I ordered off their secret menu…ANIMAL style Fries ( see photo)

I also enjoyed exotic  meals from Orchids Garden where they serve ALL DAY Dim Sum! If you haven’t had is Chinese Brunch. The food is so fresh and the staff there is so friendly. Save some room as you might also want to try the coconut bun which is dessert that is perfect with a hot cup of jasmine or green tea.

Who doesn’t LOVE to shop? While I like the SHOPPING on the strip I also like to head to PRIMM at the outlet mall. They have some fabulous shops like Tommy Bahama,Charlotte Rousse,Coach and more.

ALL at fabulous DISCOUNT $$$$$$ prices …You won’t find on the strip.

I bought some Tommy Bahama tops and bathing suit for my husband. Gorgeous bracelets for me,sandals, perfume and a few LV souvenir gifts all for $197.00

So, I hope you enjoyed a peek inside my classrooms, the beauty and the hair shows and see what’s on trend. If you haven’t been to Las Vegas add it to your list!

Travel and explore my darlings and eat up all that life has to offer!!!

Back to always fabulous Las Vegas!

I LOVE to work and play in Las Vegas!

Back again last weekend for the International Esthetics Cosmetics and Spa Conference as well as the International Beauty Show.  Two fabulous shows one for beauty industry professionals like makeup artists, skin care professionals ,spas and plastic surgery clinics. The other IBS is loved by hairstylists, nail techs and makeup artists.LV SIGN photo

So good to connect with businesses, explore the show floor and lecture. My two topics were “What a Bride Wants” and “Model and Fashion Week Beauty Secrets.”

Someday soon I will post them and will share them ALL with you too!

They had a cool down in the weather instead of the 122 degrees they’ve been having… it was only 112 degrees.Lol…it was tough! I played on the LV strip, I got a mani & pedi, shoulder & back massage, got a deep cleansing facial and foot spa experience all on the show floor. I sampled, touched, sniffed, rubbed and tested many of the new products in beauty.

I shopped till I really dropped…lots of  work and YET so much fun!

Gotta get caught up and rest up and reboot my body. It is exhausting and travel today is even more so. I had two flight issues one with airplane problems and one with delays that were weather related.Happy to leave and enjoyed all that LV had to offer and happy to get back to my husband and to chill.
