…Your daughter or granddaughters?
Summer is still here and your daughters and grand daughters are still out of school.
Here are a few fun things to do with them this summer!
Today I shared on TV what you can do and how much fun it can be!
- Bonding time:Do a little makeup at home day. Show them how to apply a little lipstick or gloss,a blush, nail polish and or a bit of glitter. A little goes a long way.
- Show them how to take care of their hair or braid the hair …Barbie Hair conditioner for detangling works wonders!
- Teach them that SUNSCREEN is a best kept beauty secret! Protecting their face and body from the sun is very important.Use dolls as demo’s.
- Enjoy making or serving yummy refreshments like fruit infused water, pretty pink lemonade, candy,Pez and or yummy pink cupcakes.Make it like a beauty party!
- Another fun idea is:To show them how they can write a story book and they are the main character. All they need is an empty unlined notebook and some markers or crayons. Encourage them to be creative.
- Princess Patch Parties is a local company if you’re lucky enough to live in Jacksonville Florida in the Murray Hill section of town that offers birthday and mini spa parties with facials and a little mani & pedi outing. Pink and frilly place where glitter rules! www.princesspatchgirlsspa.com
- Lip gloss D.I.Y. with you and or their friends with a MINI bar of Hershey’s chocolate or some crushed up candy mixed with a dash of OrganIc coconut oil from Whole Foods Market. You will need to assist children with this in the microwave for a few minutes. What you’ll have is a shiny, lip softening lip gloss. No it won’t last you’ll watch them lick it off and laugh the afternoon away.
- I will share these ideas and more on the video from the segment. JUST A CLICK AWAY! http://www.firstcoastnews.com on The Chat
- ENJOY watching and hope you will try some of my outside the box ideas!
Once upon a time there was a lovely woman who gave birth to a set of twins. After the twins had been delivered the Dr. quickly came into the room and said to the woman “You have two babies. One is a healthy baby girl and the other is a form we do not know. We recommend you put him in an institution.”
My mother quickly replied…” God gave me two babies and I am taking TWO babies home. I am so glad she did! I am a twin to that handsome charming boy and I couldn’t be prouder!
My twin was born with Down Syndrome. He is a VSP!
MY…Very Special Person!
Today is our Birthday and since he passed away our birthdays do not get any easier. In fact it is a day I need to smile more and handle myself with TLC.
Norman was laughed at,treated badly and ignored by the universe and by people he came across daily. They stole his little read wagon several times when we were children. I hated the way he was treated and not readily accepted.
He was the kindest, sweetest and SMART guy. He loved music,Sci- Fi movies and a huge Star Trek fan! You should of seen the look on his face when he actually met Captain Kirk when I took him to a Star Trek Convention. We were of humble means but he made our family rich!Every day of our lives!
You know the THEME song in the movie the Titanic? That’s all I can think of …my heart is so full today and my heart will go on and on.Until we meet again.I truly miss him.
Next time you see a person tall or short, young or older who has Downs…introduce yourself they love meeting new people!Say Hello and you just might meet a new BFF for life.
*Get to know the person NOT the disability.
I bought myself some flowers and reflected there is so much beauty EVERYWHERE even when there are days in this world that no one seems to care.
It is a glorious day even though the sun is not making a guest appearance in my part of Florida today.
Today I will celebrate Easter the Polish way.I will prepare Pierogi,Kielbasi, beet soup and a box of Polish pastries I found it in town by a miracle.
I miss my mother’s touch in so many ways. She would shape the butter into a Easter bunny with cloves as eyes.I will miss those beautifully stained hard boiled eggs and fresh from the bakery oven Polish bread. When I was younger she would fill the basket of food for me to take to church and have the priest BLESS the food before my sisters and my twin would devour it all on Easter Sunday. I miss the mass in the Polish language and the pretty hymns. But I have beautiful memories to enjoy all day.
Happy Spring! ENJOY a new season in your life.
*Did you know why you see Pussy Willows along with the Easter lily at stores around Easter? They are a Polish, Russian and United Kingdom tradition. Also, I never knew this but the pretty Narcissus flower symbolizes spring and rebirth. It is a traditional Easter flower in Northern Italy and France. It was originally the Easter flower by Ancient Greeks.

It doesn’t have to be a long one.Short and sweet is good too.It is ALL about the little things, token gestures and gifts from your heart. It isn’t all about shopping and going crazy to find the right card and gift.
Pour your heart and soul out. Stir up your imagination. Get your romantic sexy side out. Whoever you want to say something to…get it out on paper too!

Wanna share with me what you are going to do?
What makes it special are these ingredients: (and the Polish FAMILY memories)
1 lb fresh strawberries
1 cup orange juice
1/2 tsp of good quality vanilla extract
2 cups of vanilla Greek yogurt
*fresh mint leaves
Clean and hull strawberries and place in a blender, combine the rest of the ingredients except whipped cream and mint.Blend until smooth.
CHILL for a few hours or overnight.Serve in pretty bowls and top with dollop of whip cream and garnish with a few mint leaves.
Yummy, creamy and dreamy taste of a recipe from Poland. My mom would be proud I still keep close in my heart and continue these traditions.
Do you have a YUMMY or unique recipe you’d like to share with me?
I’d LOVE to hear from you!
*Yummy photo from the website Cool Photo Projects.
While strawberries are still in season, you might also want to enjoy my recipe for a Refreshing Strawberry Face MASK for your skin.
Here’s what you’ll need:
8 fresh strawberries
2 tablespoons of local honey
Mash the strawberries with a spoon and add in the honey. This will make a fruity honey filled face mask. The strawberries contain Vitamin C and alpha-hydroxy acids that exfoliate the skin gently in a natural way.
If your skin is looking dull, tired, sun damaged or prone to a blemish you will LOVE what this mask does for your skin.
Leave on your face for at least fifteen minutes and rinse with luke warm water and a wash cloth.Follow with your moisturizer and eye gel.
They say that Hollywood Celebrities like Catherine Zeta Jones use strawberries in their beauty rituals.
This fresh mask will last up to a week in an airtight container. I prefer to store in glass NOT plastic container.
*As I have mentioned before always do a spot test on the side of your cheek or neck to see if you are allergic to any of these ingredients. If you know you are do not use this recipe.
Get cooking and enjoy these two delicious delights one for your body and one for your face. YUM!

I miss her crazy meal concoctions. She wasn’t a gourmet chef and no we were to poor to eat like the rich or sort of rich. She whipped up some amazing meals not amazing by taste.Amazing the way she made it happen and fed us every day in her own Polish-American way! Raising all her children alone after my father died.Taking good care of us.
I miss her style.
I miss her speaking to me in Polish.
I miss taking her out for breakfast, lunch dinner or coffee. She would have gotten a kick out of Starbucks,Tea shops and other cafes and coffee shops.
