The less is more beauty philosophy will never go out of style, especially when it comes to our nails. I love a glitter manicure as much as the next person (usually during the holidays), but nothing beats the understated elegance of a paint job that delivers just a hint of color with a healthy-looking glow.…
Get excited…Ladies! Oh the beauty of fall!
Recently on Twitter, I saw a New York City news account post how many weekends of summer are left until it’s officially fall. The replies to this were savage. It seems people don’t want to be reminded that summer is almost over. Well, I’m sorry in advance but Essie’s Fall 2019 nail polish needs to…
Been so busy since I came back from Las Vegas I finally had a moment to tell you about my beauty filled and foodie trip. I got to go with my sweetie so that’s always good. It wasn’t as hot this year as it usally is in the 100 degree and more mark. I never get tired of Las Vegas and go a few times a year.
I guest spoke at the International Esthetics Cosmetics and Spa Conference.
My class went well and I love the eager to learn audience of makeup artists, estheticans, plastic surgeons and Boss Babes.
I enjoyed and sat in on some other classes TO LEARN too but my fave part of any beauty conference is always discovering what is on the show floor! Shopped til I dropped. I discovered a few new brands and tools I will share with you in the next few blog posts too.
Healthier Looking SKIN is still in! And so are all kinds of beauty devices and facial tools for anti-aging but they are sold to beauty professionals in the spa or plastic surgeons and dermatologists offices. Where they need to be. I think sometimes these at home machines and pro devices are best used by the PROFESSIONAL. Putting the wrong device in the consumers hands can harm you especially if you don’t know what you are doing.
💄 Makeup is sparkling with all things glam and glitter.
Lash and hair extensions reign supreme.
Nails 💅are so colorful and blinged out with crystals and some are in varying shapes including very pointy.
I enjoyed my usual foodie spots for food away from the strip where the locals like to go. And at the top of that food list is the infamous In & Out Burger and animal fries too!
I stayed on an extra day to RELAX and to join Las Vegas Now’s host Courtney Perna again. So happy to join her again as she’s always fun to work with and quite a show host… loaded with personality! This time my segment was Asian Beauty Secrets Revealed. Having just been to Korea and China I had a few unique things to share with their TV viewers. The best part of the segment was rolling an Asian Skin Smoothing and Relaxing face roller with her for fun on Boomerang.
This cool little tool is still on a roll in China and now the USA. Using it is so cool and refreshing and the beauty benefits surely beats a face lift… any day!
Asian Royalty used it for centuries now it has made it to main stream from China. Great for those of you who love all things anti-aging. Revs up circulation and they do so much.
Have you ever seen unusual fruit at an Asian market and wondered what they are?
Dragon fruit and Durian are delightful to eat or add in a smoothie for younger looking skin and overall good health. Don’t be afraid to explore what’s not familiar to you and taste what you never tried before.
Asian women I interviewed on the streets of Hong Kong also shared with me that infamous Pearl Powder. Sold by the box in little vials you almost think you are buying something white powdery and illegal. But it is not. It is a powder when mixed with water makes an amazing skin brightening and tightening face mask. The women use this beauty find that is handed down from generations.
Wishing I were back in the Orient I had a craving for Dim Sum (Chinese Brunch) that is in some places served all day. I adore the owner, staff and food at Orchids Garden. So, authentic and delightful! About 8 MINUTES from the Las Vegas strip. They serve it on hot oven carts. So delicious and you won’t break the bank.
Shopping in Las Vegas is always fun. You can shop on the strip or go out and drive half an hour to an outlet mall called in Prim. They have a Tommy Bahama Outlet my husband so loves. I enjoy the H & M outlet and other discount shops.
By the airport there is also fabulous shopping experience (not just on the strip) and since I am addicted to all things containers and tidying up… The Container Store is also there! I don’t have one in my city so I try and shop one when I travel. After you’re done stop at the center and have a cocktail or go to grab a bite at The Lazy Dog restaurant. The first time I ever had sweet potato tater tots. Everything made from scratch and from the farm! Food …so fresh.
And by the way, if you’re into cannabis. They have licensed recreational dispensaries there now. It is legal.
Next time you travel ✈️ to Las Vegas check out some of these spots. You don’t need a ton of money or gamble to enjoy Las Vegas. I can’t wait to go back in a few months.
I’ve always had a beautiful experience!
Just came back from educating at the Premeire Orlando and Premiere Day Spa shows.
How fun and exciting it was! Not my first time there but it still gives me a thrill. There’s a special electricity on the show floor. My class room warmed the room with eager beauty professionals wanting to learn all I had to teach and share.
This SUMMER it is all about bold lipsticks and sexy shimmery hues. NUDE is put on hold a bit this season.
Hair… it too was featured in ALL kinds of hues from lime green, orange and gold and all hues of blue!
Toes & Fingers were also center stage. I could not believe HOW PACKED the nail section of the show was!!! Nail techs were clamoring for all things to make thier clients nails look amazing. Bling and Swarovski crytsals ruled!
They Nailed It!
ALL the top brands showed the latest and greatest hues. Wish I had time to get a manicure and be a model for them. I loooooveeeee FUN and classic nail colors!
SKIN is so in…especially when it is healthy looking and glowing~
Wish you could have been there. This shows only for beauty business owners, hair stylists, estheticians, nail techs and makeuip artists.
Are you in the beauty business and attending the International Esthetics Cosmetics and Spa show or International Beauty Shows? They happen once a year in the one and only glorious New York City. This year they happen in March.
If you’re not or haven’t been… You’re missing out on an awesome spa show and a hair show with some fabulous educators. That includes me and my colleague and friend James Vincent. You may have seen him educate from a hot show called The Makeup Show based in NYC.
We are offering two different classes! You might want to get your ticket for BOTH Makeup Classes.
My class is all about MAKEUP and makeup artist beauty secrets will be shared. Why your salon or spa should consider having makeup available. Why carry carry makeup? What lines to consider? How to demo it,promote it and so much more!
James class is all about TRENDS in 2019. You gotta keep up with what is happening now and in our industry. James not only lives in NYC he travels the globe and has the pulse on what is trending.
Both of our classes are fast paced and fun. But of course inspirational and will get you all fired up as a make-up artist or esthetcian (Skin Care Therapist) who does makeup or wants to do makeup.
The shows are so exciting and spectacular and only for beauty schools, the beauty professional or beauty business owner. I hope you consider attending this year.
For my blog followers or new to my blog guests who aren’t in the industry …Just an FYI I will be reporting from the show floor and will show you all that’s happening in the world of hair, skin and nails. I’ll also post on food, shopping and NYC fun.
March and spring are right around the corner. Stay tuned for my beauty report blog in March. I love what I do and I am taking you with me via my blog too!
There’s something about a manicure, be it low-key and neutral or blinged out and pointy à la Cardi B, that sort-of completes a look. And regardless of your personal style, nail trends in 2019 will check off all the boxes. Sure, a mani is on the smaller side and nowhere near as attention-grabbing as a…
I couldn’t have wrote this any better. Enjoy this blog post.
No one will be able to tell that these cuticles aren’t first class.
Plus, quick tips for secure application.
Don’t you just LOVE this edible art by Holly Fox who I discovered on Instagram and has a shop on Etsy! I must buy one of her awesome cookie creations. So many cookies to choose from so little time! Yum!!!
- What’s Trending in nail colors this summer … the Northeast Distributor for OPI Vinnie Le from of Victoria Nial Supply says “Blue hues are so in from Mint blue,Baby blues and Aqua Ocean blue.He also says nude, pink nude and rose gold metallics are hot.” I am over the moon for these new shades!
- How to make your nail polish last longer and strengthen them too? From Start to Finish by OPI is a 3 products in one new sensation. A base coat,a top coat and a nail strengthener too. So now you don’t have to apply a base coat,a top coat and a nail strengthener. ONE bottle and product for three steps. Genius!
- Cuticle oil is a must. Apply it on your fingers and toes to keep the skin soft and looking good. Sandal season means less shoes and clothes. So,don’t forget to take care of your fingers d and toes.
- If your hands are showing age…or to prevent sun spots and wrinkles from forming so fast. Try using a sunscreen on them. I like a natural one that is the kind you roll/rub on from a deodorant like stick by Go Waxhead. It isn’t just about protecting your face from spots your hands and tops of feet need it too.
- Always keep your hands and body hydrated not only with cuticle oil but hand and body lotions and creams.
- Now all you need is to paint the town with your fave hues! Have a happy National Nail Polish Day!
And since it is also National DONUT day let me share my fave donut in Chicago…
Do-rite donuts! If you haven’t tasted them you don’t know what you are missing! And yes I am still in love with Krispy Kreme donuts BUT this company’s donuts is really awesome too!
WORTH A TRIP to Chicago! Was just there last month and can’t wait to go back and taste more!
TWO wonderful reasons to celebrate today!
Just like that!
I admit it… I slept in NOT my choice my body had other ideas (Friday night we did a POP-Up shop for my business and it was a long exhausting day) so I did not watch the wedding of the year while it was happening! However, I did watch and still am devouring every crumb I can get of it on TV and online.
Since I am in the business of beauty I couldn’t let this wedding pass without sharing my thoughts on this bride!
I loved her look, style and wedding day choices. I thought her makeup was effortless and not trying too much nor over the top glam.
This is the kind of bridal makeup I do on my clients. Softly defined and naturally gorgeous!
Luminous skin,a nude pink lipstick, chocolate brown eye shadow, peachy pink soft cheeks and a defined brow all worked to make her look simply beautiful! The icing on her pretty face? Pretty freckles peeking through.
Her face was prepped months ahead to a few facials and contouring facials a technique by the famous esthetician Nichola Joss who works across the pond in London and in NYC. She recommends a bride prepare her skin for the big day months ahead and so do I.
In case you didn’t know it the Duchess likes to shop a variety of places as well as Whole Foods and is an avid foodie and very health conscious. She’s even got the Prince doing green drinks with her!
Rumor had it she would do her own makeup. Well, she did not. She had a little help by a makeup artist Daniel Martin.
Her hair was styled by Serge Normant ala NYC.Stylist to SJP and Julia Roberts to name a few of his VIP and celebrity clientele. I’ve always wanted to get my haircut or styled by him back home!
Royals have been gifted Essie nail lacquer and have worn that brand in the past. Not sure if Essie’s Ballet Slippers was on her well manicured nails.
Stylists predicted that Meghan would choose a sparkly heavy beaded wedding gown by certain designers ala a Disney Princess. They were wrong! She chose the beauty of Givenchy by a designer from England. I thought her gown was…simple and elegant.
This very modern bride and ceremony was amazing. Down to those adorable boys and flower girls!
I am so happy for Prince Harry! Aren’t you?
The American girl who became a Duchess… 22 YEARS after she posed pretty with a friend in front of Buckingham Palace sitting on the fence. A fairy tale indeed!
What are your thoughts? I’d love to hear from you!
