Oh happy day…it’s National Nail Polish and DONUT day!

IMG_1913 National Nail Polish day.JPG

Don’t you just LOVE this edible art by Holly Fox who I discovered on Instagram and has a shop on Etsy! I must buy one of her awesome cookie creations. So many cookies to choose from so little time! Yum!!!

  • What’s Trending in nail colors this summer … the Northeast Distributor for OPI Vinnie Le from of Victoria Nial Supply says “Blue hues are so in from Mint blue,Baby blues and Aqua Ocean blue.He also says nude, pink nude and rose gold metallics are hot.” I am over the moon for these new shades!
  • How to make your nail polish last longer and strengthen them too? From Start to Finish by OPI is a 3 products in one new sensation. A base coat,a top coat and a nail strengthener too. So now you don’t have to apply a base coat,a top coat and a nail strengthener. ONE bottle and product for three steps. Genius!
  • Cuticle oil is a must. Apply it on your fingers and toes to keep the skin soft and looking good. Sandal season means less shoes and clothes. So,don’t forget to take care of your fingers d and toes.
  • If your hands are showing age…or to prevent sun spots and wrinkles from forming so fast. Try using a sunscreen on them. I like a natural one that is the kind you roll/rub on from a deodorant like stick by Go Waxhead. It isn’t just about protecting your face from spots your hands and tops of feet need it too.
  • Always keep your hands and body hydrated not only with cuticle oil but hand and body lotions and creams.
  • Now all you need is to paint the town with your fave hues! Have a happy National Nail Polish Day!

And since it is also National DONUT day let me share my fave donut in Chicago…

Do-rite donuts! If you haven’t tasted them you don’t know what you are missing! And yes I am still in love with Krispy Kreme donuts BUT this company’s donuts  is really awesome too!

WORTH A TRIP to  Chicago! Was just there last month and can’t wait to go back and taste more!IMG_2056 donuts.JPG

TWO wonderful reasons to celebrate today!

Enjoy!

And then she woke up …a Duchess!

IMG_1725.jpgJust like that!

I admit it… I slept in NOT my choice my body had other ideas (Friday night we did a POP-Up shop for my business and it was a long exhausting day) so I did not watch the wedding of the year while it was happening! However, I did watch and still am devouring every crumb I can get of it on TV and online.

Since I am in the business of beauty I couldn’t let this wedding pass without sharing my  thoughts on this bride!

I loved her look, style and wedding day choices. I thought her makeup was effortless and not trying too much nor over the top glam.

This is the kind of bridal makeup I do on my clients. Softly defined and naturally gorgeous!

Luminous skin,a nude pink lipstick, chocolate brown eye shadow, peachy pink  soft cheeks and a defined brow all worked to make her look simply beautiful! The icing on her pretty face? Pretty freckles peeking through.

Her face was prepped months ahead to a few facials and contouring facials a technique by the famous esthetician  Nichola Joss who works across the pond in London and in NYC. She recommends a bride prepare her skin for the big day months ahead and so do I.

In case you didn’t know it the Duchess likes to shop a variety of places as well as  Whole Foods and is an avid foodie and very health conscious. She’s even got the Prince doing green drinks with her!

Rumor had it she would do her own makeup. Well, she did not. She had a little help by a makeup artist Daniel Martin.

Her hair was styled by Serge Normant ala NYC.Stylist to SJP and Julia Roberts to name a few of his VIP and celebrity clientele. I’ve always wanted to get my haircut or styled by him back home!

Royals have been gifted Essie nail lacquer and have worn that brand in the past. Not sure if Essie’s Ballet Slippers was on her well manicured nails.

Stylists predicted that Meghan would choose a sparkly heavy beaded wedding gown by certain designers ala a Disney Princess. They were wrong!  She chose the beauty of Givenchy by a designer from England. I thought her gown was…simple and elegant.

This very modern bride and ceremony was amazing. Down to those adorable boys and flower girls!

I am so happy for Prince Harry! Aren’t you?

The American girl who became a Duchess… 22 YEARS after she posed pretty with a friend in front of Buckingham Palace sitting on the fence. A fairy tale indeed!

What are your thoughts? I’d love to hear from you!

It’s beauty show time!

Freshen up your air…

photo plant blog

Spring is here even though it seems to be snowing again almost everywhere. Here in Florida we have had both cool and a taste of summer weather. So, that is putting us in the mood for planting.  I have been on the hunt for more new herbs for my garden,re-rooting my other herbs to make more and discovering new plants. Around St. Patrick’s day I found something even better than a green beer I found a Shamrock plant also known as Oxalis. I hope it will bring good luck!

I came across a survey that stated common household plants are incredibly effective at removing volatile organic compounds (VOCs) from the air, this is really good news for our health.

Certain plants including bromeliads (a tropical house plant),dracaenas and spider plants may be better at eliminating some indoor pollutants than traditional ventilation systems.

But my local nursery guy says having any kind of plant is great for the air in our home or office especially with all the tech tools and our computers.

Acetone, formaldehyde and toluene are pollutants that hang at most nail salons air. (Found in many nail polish brands) And who knows what’s lurking in our hair salons air?

I think it is time I deliver a plant for my mani and pedi tech and help clean her NAIL SALON air too!

Enjoy the beauty of green and  surround  yourself with plants and flowers to brighten your world too.

Happy & healthier Spring to you!.

Cocoa nibs blog photoThis morning I woke up craving NOT coffee but chocolate! I love to play in the kitchen.

Did you know that Cacao nibs are a natural way to get a chocolate fix?

2 cups of coconut milk (from the milk section)

1 teaspoon of cocoa powder

1  frozen banana

sprinkle of Chia seeds (Cause it wouldn’t hurt to add them)

sprinkle of cocoa nibs to taste

a drizzle of organic honey

Blend in a blender and you have a sweet sensation that’s not too sweet.

A quick chocolate CRAVING fix!

*Oh and for a shot for my skin I added a spoonful of  NeoCell Super Collagen powder…for hair, skin nails, bones, joints and more! To get my glow on and to be a Glow Getter.

Pretty Pedi at Home!

Low on cash and want to refresh your feet and last months pedicure?

  • Soak your cares away with Epsom salt and Peppermint essential oil or fresh peppermint or mint leaves from your garden in a warm water foot bath. It is very soothing and cools the skin especially after a long hot day!
  • Soaking your feet for 15 minutes with Epsom salts also refreshes the soles and take down any swelling of the ankles and feet.
  • Clean well around your nails and toes with a nail brush, orange wood stick and file any rough nail edges.
  • When done apply a hydrating salve or lotion like Smith’s RoseBud Salve. It is fabulous for your feet, heels, cuticles, lips, brows and unwanted hair around your hairline. Celebrities and models love this product.
  • Skip the nail polish if you’d like or apply a fabulous color. It is fine to give your nails a vacay from polish.
  • Your feet and skin will look and feel amazing. photo flip flops

What I saw,ate and did in Las Vegas!

photo.JPG friesI love Las Vegas. It is a beautiful and fun city. And the best part like New York it has so much FREE eye candy for you to enjoy. You don’t have to spend all your time on the Strip either!

My last post I told you I was going there to guest speak at the International Esthetics Cosmetics and Spa conference. This year the show was better than ever!Alongside the show is a full pavilion called the International Beauty Show. Both are shows if you are in the business of beauty and a licensed beauty professional you do not want to miss. This year we got an extra bonus…The Comic Con show was there. I saw all kinds of characters. From devils to Winnie the Poo to sexy sirens. In 113 to 117 degrees I admired the passion for the world of comic books.

Trends come and go but the biggest trend I continue to see and grow is the look of healthy skin and  the care of the skin.I tried all kinds of lotions, potions, hydrated by a new sheet mask  by the ever popular Image Skincare and skin feeling softer and loved. The ever popular Savvy Sleepers pillowcase rocks your skin with anti-aging smooth benefits. Protects your skin from more wrinkles and saves your hair and extends expensive blowouts all while you sleep. Especially from the aromatherapy spa product aisle. The smell of lavender, peppermint and more filled the show floor.

Another trend that continues to rise is COLOR.It was everywhere on the faces of makeup artists in my classes and on the show floor and at makeup booths. HAIR was colorful too. I saw all the colors of the rainbow kinda hair. It was AMAZING. My fave’ were the luscious world of lipsticks and glosses. Aqua, pink, coral, yellow, purple lipsticks are so on trend and sure to make you happy hues.Let’s not forget that nail polish continues to be in all shades to tempt you. I LOVE the fact that our world has become so color filled. Remember when our beauty world only offered safe colors like soft pink, pearly white and beige. How about when our blow dryers only came in boring gray? Well no more.

My classrooms were filled with eager to learn beauty professionals, spa and salon owners.I love what I do and travel too. After the show I was STARVING and needed to hydrate up and had to stop to my fave place for a for a burger and fries. Smothered in yum and made in the kitchen with LOVE. And a sip one of their shakes…Pink Strawberry. You know how I love pink!

I like to venture away from the strip where the locals who live there go. Not all your meals have to be in swanky expensive  I enjoyed the ever fabulous In and Out Burger where I ordered off their secret menu…ANIMAL style Fries ( see photo)

I also enjoyed exotic  meals from Orchids Garden where they serve ALL DAY Dim Sum! If you haven’t had is Chinese Brunch. The food is so fresh and the staff there is so friendly. Save some room as you might also want to try the coconut bun which is dessert that is perfect with a hot cup of jasmine or green tea.

Who doesn’t LOVE to shop? While I like the SHOPPING on the strip I also like to head to PRIMM at the outlet mall. They have some fabulous shops like Tommy Bahama,Charlotte Rousse,Coach and more.

ALL at fabulous DISCOUNT $$$$$$ prices …You won’t find on the strip.

I bought some Tommy Bahama tops and bathing suit for my husband. Gorgeous bracelets for me,sandals, perfume and a few LV souvenir gifts all for $197.00

So, I hope you enjoyed a peek inside my classrooms, the beauty and the hair shows and see what’s on trend. If you haven’t been to Las Vegas add it to your list!

Travel and explore my darlings and eat up all that life has to offer!!!

Vegas Baby!

I am so ready to paint the town pink!cropped-noreen-2015-headshot.jpg

It is that time of  year and I am so excited to guest speak again at the International Esthetics Cosmetics and Spa show in beautiful Las Vegas! It is not only a fun city it is home to so many of my fav’ foodie spots!

I will be working, exploring and shopping the show floor for the latest and greatest in beauty and skin! I love this show! It is THE BEST!

I also can’t wait to go to the strip and partake in some eye candy as these casinos offer so much. While I do not gamble I do love everything else!

It is going to be 117 average temperature and while they call it a dry heat. I call it HOT AS HELL heat just like Florida.I still sweat!

I might even take in one of the hot spas if I have time as these spots are so divine! So, I will be bringing you the best in beauty from one who craves all things beauty and who is a foodie.

I will miss my husband but so look forward to sharing with you my travel and fun finds!
