Day 23 of MY Beauty Secrets

As a professional Make-Up Artist I use products and things in different ways. I love being a creative and thinking outside the box, circle and square.

Lashes

When it comes to mascara and the beauty photo shoot or the client calls for a natural not caked on mascara look… I use a Tinted Grooming Brow Gel on the lashes instead of a true mascara. It adds thickness and color. But the lashes look totally natural.

Another product I like to use is a CLEAR Brow gel on the lashes and not just the brows. Colorless and natural my clients love ❤️ both the looks.

Day 19 of MY Beauty Secrets

When your finger or toe nails start to get a fungal infection. Try soaking them in an apple 🍎 cider vinegar soak and some warm water.

Quick Fix Remedy

If this does not work after a few soaks and your issue gets worse. It usually doesn’t just go away it gets worse. You may want to see a dermatologist.

Sometimes this happens from germs getting a manicure or pedicure at a nail salon or spa. It has happened to me. It’s NOT pretty it isn’t fun. And sometimes it just happens to one or a few toes on your feet. Weird but true.

Day 15 of MY Beauty Secrets

Oops, I fell asleep last night and forgot to post on my blog. I don’t know about you but I am having restless sleep and sometimes my new morning wake up time is 4:30AM. This has never happened before. I had a long work day yesterday and needed to look good and well rested but I didn’t feel it after all.

How about you! Are you sleeping well?

The beauty secret I’d like to share with you is one to make your skin feel good and give yourself a little exfoliation naturally. In the heart of winter and on hot summer days I love to exfoliate my elbows and needs with fresh lemons. Juicy, ripe or on their way out and about to go in the garbage. Don’t throw them out. Cut them in half and dip them in some white sugar.

Photo by Lisa Fotios on Pexels.com

Place them on the elbows and rub on the skin. Move in circular motions. Place more sugar on them and go for round two. Allow it to set on the skin.

Next got to your knees and do the same. Do it twice. Every time I do this treat to my elbows and knees I feel like I am back in Italy enjoying the glorious lemons and a delicious Lemoncello drink.

Rinse well with lukewarm water and a washcloth. If your skin is extra sensitive or thin rinse after one treatment) It will feel tingly. The acid of the lemon is gently exfoliating your tired, dry grayish skin (You know the skin may look almost looks dirty). But you CAN make it look better.

Afterwards shower, bathe or just rinse your elbows and knees again and apply your favorite hand and body lotion. You can do this once a month or once a week.

Your skin will LOVE you back by the way it looks.

Mist Up!

I love facial mists they make my skin feel awesome and dewy…giving it a glow. Great for all skin types but… especially good for dry or aging skin. You will too!

Here is one of my favorites anti-oxidant rich and skin loving.

What you will need to make this recipe:

1 4-ounce spray bottle

1 teaspoon of organic rosehip oil

3 1/12 ounces of distilled water.

Place in a bottle with a spray. I prefer glass if possible. And I enjoy the brand Aura Cacia for some of these products.

This face mist may be used over or under your makeup. Use don’t just let it sit on your beauty counter. Shelf life is about a month. Hint: My husband loves it too. So refreshing and the lavender makes you relaxed.

Do you have a DIY recipe you’d like to share with me? Please DO.

Hello Sunshine!

Have you been spending time baking like croissants in the sun?

Or have you been  spending time doing different things in all places in the sun this season.

If you  have… perhaps a sunburn has come your way or worse yet …sunburn, red as a lobster, blistering and dreaded peeling.

Recently I showed  TV viewers simple home remedies you can do when you have had too much fun in the sun! So, I am sharing them with you. I LOVE THE SUN but got burned a few times. One was pretty bad. I also enjoyed the tan from a tanning bad. I cover up NOW and have never done it again. Really! Once you get skin cancer you never forget it. Neither does your skin. Your skin always remembers how you treat it and will show it too!

  • Apple cider vinegar: Take a bath in it. It will make you feel so much better. Fill a tub with luke warm or cool water and a cup of the apple cider vinegar.
  • Baking soda:Make a cooling paste with it and some water or take a refreshing bath in it with a cup of baking soda.
  • Fresh aloe or Aloe Vera gel are so cooling and take down the redness and heat from the burn.
  • Stay Hydrated with water, coconut water, sports drink or a skin loving drink called All Beauty Drink.
  • Cool Milk compresses on a washcloth or a cotton gauze pad work wonders.

  • To calm the heat of your body from the burn fill a mini spray bottle with lavender oil and water. Shake it up and spray on the burn. You’ll cool off immediately!
  • You’ll FEEL BETTER and cooler in no time with my tips and easy home remedies and hopefully not blister and peel. If you do. Here’s what to do! An oatmeal and water bath will help with that itchy skin.

Word to the Wise: Wear a SHOT GLASS worth of sunscreen. You”ll still get some color. Just be SMART and more protected. You don’t want face and body sun spots and those not so pretty wrinkles!

Wanna feel …cool as a cucumber?

IMG_2658.jpgSo do I.

The temperatures are soaring across the country on my trip to Las Vegas a couple of weeks ago it was in the 100’s most days. In Florida we are so HUMID and in the 90’s. Los Angeles 112? It is a melting pot of hot. So, here is a way I like to keep cool with the cheapest vegetable around…the cucumber!

Did you know? It is composed of 95% water, but also contains, vitamins B1,B2,B3 and B12? hese vitamins help soothe the skin from any irritations, reduce swelling, and prevent water retention. It also contains ascorbic acid ,folic acid and polysaccharides (a hero in hydrating your skin) and has super powers.

Today it is going to be another hot one!!! So, I am going to make cut them up in a few small chunks and fill an ice cube tray with them and make “cuke cubes” my cool and refreshing version of ice cubes. I like to sprinkle a smidge of sea salt on top. Once frozen I like to pop one in a glass of seltzer water and or Perrier or Pellegrino water. So refreshing and when the ice cube melts enjoy that lovely cumber.

Yes, you can also enjoy them like a cracker alone. Or embelish with some yumminess on top. I also like to make those cool cucumber eye pads out of them simply by cutting a slice and lay one on each eye for at least 10 mins. and let it’s beauty benefits soak in and calm those tired peepers!

I also highly recommend doing a Cool Cucumber Facial!  All you need is to scoop out the inside pulp of the cucumber and place that on a freshly cleaned face with a fan brush or baby spatula. This is mask is  really an awesome feeling skin treat. I leave the mask on at least 15 minutes and lay down.

Cucumbers are not only great for a tray of crudites at your next party but great for sunburned skin, help plump your skin, tightens the pores, helps with elasticity of the skin that leads to skin sagging. It also balances the PH level of the skin and gently lightens thus brightens and gently exfoliates the skin.

This pulp mask on a clean face is a wonderful…NO chemical skin care! And FYI other skin therapists/estheticians like me use this mask on their clientele too.

So now you see you can enjoy the cucumber in your salad,in a drink and on your face and neck!

TAKE IT OFF!

IMG_2418

I lOVE to play in my kitchen either trying out new recipes or whipping up some fun with beauty products and make my own creations. Over the summer holidays and partying we tend to forget about removing our makeup and crash out. But please don’t do that!  Your skin needs to be cleansed at night even if you didn’t wear makeup that day.

So, if you are looking for a little fun today or tonight and D.I.Y. try this easy step skin recipe.

3 tablespoons Aloe Vera gel ( I prefer it from a fresh plant)

1 tablespoon of Jojoba ( The brand Aura Cacia makes an awesome one)

1 tablespoon of organic coconut oil (I LOVE the Whole Foods brand)

  • Now here we go. I warm a small amount of jojoba in a pan on low heat. This will happen in seconds.
  • Next, I add the coconut oil and stir some more. A add the aloe vera gel. Turn off the stove top.
  • Stir these ingredients well and pour in a round (big mouth jar) preferably a  glass jar or mini bowl.

Enjoy! Refrigerate any leftovers to keep the cleanser preserved until next time you use it.

Like everything this has a shelf life so use it up quick!

This recipe makes a Gentle Makeup Remover that softens your skin and removes makeup at the same time. Use a mini scoop or mini spatula to apply it to your palms and remove your makeup. Then wash your face with your fave gel soap cleanser  or soap bar made for the complexion. Not a deodorant bar. Your face deserves the best! The deodorant bars are meant for your under arms and other body parts. Your face deserves TLC attention with the right stuff.

Please note: if you are allergic to any of the ingredients don’t use it in this recipe.

Your skin will love you… If you’re into natural beauty this plant based complexion treat is for YOU!

By the way, if you’d like to make this with a touch of fragrance try adding a sprinkle of your fave’ essential oil. My go to and fave is lovely relaxing lavender…especially before bed.

Sweet dreams and prettier healthy looking skin!
