Food & Fun finds from my trip to NYC!

34th Street Herald Square is the center if it all. Macy’s where I used to work early on in my beauty & fashion career is THE place to stop. It is their flagship store where it all began. You know it from the Macy’s Thanksgiving day parade.

The one and only Macy’s 34th Street

Macy’s has so much to offer from beauty, to fashion to fabulous food and drinks! There is something for everyone!

They evdd we n have their own Merch shop as well as I Love ❤️ NY gifts and fun finds.

Seventh Avenue and around the corners is Fashion Ave. You’ll see all kinds of businesses and racks of fresh made clothing and boxes of handbags and shoes zipping in and out of the street into the buildings. This is where a lot of the fast fashions are made! It also where up and coming designers get discovered.

If you are a creative spirit and like to make things and see… on these streets by Macy’s you’ll see the Garment districts novelty suppliers. They will even sell to you if you have the money. From sequins, glitter, to decorative ribbons and the most amazing and unique buttons and more! You just have to explore!

This district and shopping in the different neighborhood boutiques and stores in Soho, the Village and other shops in downtown NY. You’ll have a ball! Just give yourself time to explore!

Uptown is yet another Mecca of shopping and fashionable fun. There’s even a thrift store that is filled with designer clothing and accessories. NYC has the most amazing shopping.

This area of NY is where you might even bump into Sarah Jessica Parker as Sex and the City shoots there and she lives in the area.

A trip uptown cannot be complete without a stop at Bloomingdales Dept. store where I worked in the cosmetics department. You never know who you might see visiting the store. I’ll never forget seeing one of my first celebrities. Actor Sylvester Stallone of boxing 🥊 movie fame stopped to shop my cosmetic counter and had a few haircare questions. It was pretty exciting.

Chinatown is yet another section of NYC you need to visit. Send Chinatown some ❤️ LOVE. They need your business. It is “lit” right now with so many new eateries, bakeries, drink spots and delicious street vendors.

No one does dumplings 🥟 like Chinatown!

Chinatown gift shops, decor and more is yet another reason to shop there. So many unique things.

By the way, actors George Clooney and Brad Pitt have been there in Chinatown shooting a movie! I’m a fan!

The “Hells Kitchen” area is home to some awesome places to shop and eat. One of my favorites in the area is The legendary Little Pie Company bakery. Never disappoints.

As you can see I always fit in time to taste and enjoy all the city has to offer when I guest speak at spa bad wellness shows. The International Esthetics Cosmetics and Spa conference was even more wonderful this year!

Pack a travel journal,a pen and wear comfortable shoes and clothes to explore all that New York City has to offer.
It’s showtime! The IECSC spa show

It was so great to not only educate but also reconnect with my beauty community. The show is EXCLUSIVE to beauty professionals, estheticians, makeup artists, massage therapists, nail techs, spas, salons and beauty business owners.

The fashion & beauty forecast I saw was Color IS Going strong in fashion. And Makeup is either bold or minimal. SKIN continues to be IN. Healthy looking pretty skin!

Back from an amazzzing trip to NYC…

My first time since the pandemic! WOW!

It has been too long!

It rained, it snowed and the sun finally shined. It was a crazy busy but fun time.

The International Beauty Show and the Esthetics Cosmetics and SPA Conference were great!

The class I taught went well.

The attendees of beauty pros and beauty business owners came from all over the world! I love meeting people from all over the 🌎 globe. So grateful to the smiling faces eager to learn in my classroom for Advanced Workshops.

The show floor bustled with happy 😊 shoppers! They were stocking up and exploring products and beauty supplies and equipment for their beauty practice or spa or salon business.

I love the pretty change of leaves.

The bit cooler weather.

Delicious new fall scented candles to light my rooms.

The smell of pumpkin spice.

Sipping warm apple cider.

Wearing a beautiful cozy sweater or scarf.

Picking apples from a tree and eating them too!

Buying new FALL makeup hues!

oh and let’s not forget a yummy slice of sweet potato OR a slice of pumpkin pie!

Because fall doesn’t really arrive in Florida 🌴 ☀️until late October… even though the calendar says otherwise.

I wait!

What do you love about fall BEST OF ALL?

The NYFW Fall-Winter 2019 Beauty Looks That Convinced Me to Start Wearing Makeup Again — StyleCaster

Which ones your fave…and giving you inpsiration for a new look this year?

I love quie a few.

Though I’m not particularly obsessed with celebrity culture, I am admittedly one of those people who can still go on Instagram and start liking popular posts without going overboard. In short, that means a red carpet moment or the occasional Shade Room update isn’t completely off the table. And come February, my thumbs are working…

Look what I found…

Oh Allure magazine I can’t seem to throw you away!

My husband calls my magazines junk I call you ALLURE  my beauty bible, research, fun and more!

He really doesn’t have anything against the magazines might I add NEATLY stacked on my bedroom and makeup studio floors…he simply wants me to enjoy them via an iPad and not hard copy.

Call me old fashion girl !  I LOVE turning those pages and the smell of the paper pages. You can’t get that on an iPad.I even love to share and recycle them too. Knowledge is power …Right?

I just don’t understand why he wants to rain on my love for magazines parade.

Do you?

The other day I was cleaning and rearranging my walk in closet and discovered a stack of magazines I saved. Vogue and more. My fave find was the first few editions of ALLURE. Look closely it is from July 1991. The magazine started by Linda Wells as the first of it’s kind arrived on the newsstands and into my heart in March 1991.Allure is not even found in this size and print. It is much smaller and like the usual size of  magazines nowadays. He thinks I should throw them out. I have covered them in tissue paper, placed them in plastic and stored them in my closet where he won’t be able to bother them. Nor have to look at them.

As a girl,a professional makeup artist, skin therapist and beauty business owner I so LOVE my BEAUTY FILLED Allure magazine!

Yes I so LOVE my Allure. What’s not to love and explore every month?

What are YOUR thoughts?

21 Random Questions with Iris Apfel — StyleCaster

I so love this interview with Iris. She is on my bucket list to interview too. Her answers are so Iris!

Iris Apfel is 96 years old. She has almost a million followers on Instagram. She’s a businesswoman, interior designer, and a fashion icon. But when I sat down with her during [Pre]Coterie Women’s June Market Week in New York, I learned some things I didn’t already know about her—21 glorious, unconventional, inspiring, and admirable things. This…

And then she woke up …a Duchess!

IMG_1725.jpgJust like that!

I admit it… I slept in NOT my choice my body had other ideas (Friday night we did a POP-Up shop for my business and it was a long exhausting day) so I did not watch the wedding of the year while it was happening! However, I did watch and still am devouring every crumb I can get of it on TV and online.

Since I am in the business of beauty I couldn’t let this wedding pass without sharing my  thoughts on this bride!

I loved her look, style and wedding day choices. I thought her makeup was effortless and not trying too much nor over the top glam.

This is the kind of bridal makeup I do on my clients. Softly defined and naturally gorgeous!

Luminous skin,a nude pink lipstick, chocolate brown eye shadow, peachy pink  soft cheeks and a defined brow all worked to make her look simply beautiful! The icing on her pretty face? Pretty freckles peeking through.

Her face was prepped months ahead to a few facials and contouring facials a technique by the famous esthetician  Nichola Joss who works across the pond in London and in NYC. She recommends a bride prepare her skin for the big day months ahead and so do I.

In case you didn’t know it the Duchess likes to shop a variety of places as well as  Whole Foods and is an avid foodie and very health conscious. She’s even got the Prince doing green drinks with her!

Rumor had it she would do her own makeup. Well, she did not. She had a little help by a makeup artist Daniel Martin.

Her hair was styled by Serge Normant ala NYC.Stylist to SJP and Julia Roberts to name a few of his VIP and celebrity clientele. I’ve always wanted to get my haircut or styled by him back home!

Royals have been gifted Essie nail lacquer and have worn that brand in the past. Not sure if Essie’s Ballet Slippers was on her well manicured nails.

Stylists predicted that Meghan would choose a sparkly heavy beaded wedding gown by certain designers ala a Disney Princess. They were wrong!  She chose the beauty of Givenchy by a designer from England. I thought her gown was…simple and elegant.

This very modern bride and ceremony was amazing. Down to those adorable boys and flower girls!

I am so happy for Prince Harry! Aren’t you?

The American girl who became a Duchess… 22 YEARS after she posed pretty with a friend in front of Buckingham Palace sitting on the fence. A fairy tale indeed!

What are your thoughts? I’d love to hear from you!

Who wore it best?

Do we have the fashion gods to thank for tonight’s exceptional Met Gala red carpet? We’re not sure if it’s the religion theme or the fact that three style icons (Donatella Versace, Rihanna and Amal Clooney) are hosting this year’s festivities, but for once, we’re happy to see the majority of attendees actually honor the…
