Self-Care Sunday …Hand Mask

Lately I’ve noticed women’s hands and feet. While waiting on lines, while grabbing a bite to eat or my clients at my beauty cottage.

Your hands go through sun 🌞 and environmental stressors not to mention using home cleaning products and hand sanitizer. Not just your face. So, they are dry and thirsty for attention.

Hand Mask to the rescue!

Some of you who read my blog may know by now how much I ❤️ to make pretty potions!

So here’s one for you!

One of the mask DIY recipes I like to do is right out of the kitchen. Not a product from a store shelf. This mask gently moisturizes and is applied to the top of the hands.

Easy as 1,2,3.

1 tablespoon of oats

1 teaspoon of lemon juice

1 tablespoon of olive oil

Mix all of the above. Add water as needed. The mask will be like a paste consistency.

Apply the mask mixture to your hands with a face mask brush or a clean pastry brush.

Leave on at least 15 minutes.

Rub your hands together another minute.

Rinse well with in the sink with a washcloth.

If you have any left over. Save it for another time. Don’t save more than a couple of days. There are no preservatives.

Follow with your favorite hand or body lotion.

You’ll have happy, softer, brighter skin on your hands.

Can you smell the lovely scent ?

On a long holiday weekend I love to make things and they are usually with a beauty or baking twist.

Cause I am on the road for work alot I am happy to stay in and chill. I made sugar cookies with lavender. And I made this scalp treat for my hair. I LOVE LAVEVDER! Do you? The scent is so relaxing, soothing,RELIEVES tension and great for migraines or a basic headache.

5 drops of essential oil. (I prefer Aura Cacia)

1/4 cup of olive oil (organic)

I Warm the oil and shut burner off. Sprinkle in the drops on the stove top and stir. The oil will make conditioning hair love~

I like to apply on wet hair. Massage into the scalp and the ends a bit too.I take a shower cap I have from my hotel stays and place my hair up in it. Leave on at least 15 minutes.

Shampoo when done. Rinse well.

If you are up to your lips in work or that TO DO list enjoy making and using this aromatic softer hair and happy hydrated scalp too!

ENJOY the beauty of lavender!

No Chemicals BEAUTY

photo Oats.JPGThe beauty of food! You can eat it and you can wear it for the sake of prettier looking skin too.

NO chemicals and no ingredients you can’t pronounce.

I LOVE Sundays not only because it is a spiritual kind of day but unless I am working out of town or traveling out of town I am off on Sundays and at home sweet home!

Sunday Funday… Time to recharge, relax and unwind.

It seems everyone’s skin is going through some kind of issue because of the weather. Despite the fact that they say Spring is in full swing!

IF your skin is dry, itchy and longing for some attention here is one of my recipes that I am doing on my face and neck toward my breasts today. Sometimes I switch things up and change an ingredient to add another instead. But this is my go to.

What you will need:

1 cup of oatmeal (not instant)

1/2 cup of local farmer honey

1/2 cup of cold-pressed olive oil

Place oatmeal in a mini grinder or food processor.

Grind the oatmeal into a powdery mix.

Add the honey  to the oatmeal and stir.

Lastly add the olive oil and mix with a spoon by hand in a bowl.

Smooth on a clean face. Leave on at least 10 minutes.

Rinse well with a lukewarm washcloth. Follow with your skin toner. I adore rosewater.  Next apply a dash of your moisturizer on your face and eye gel around your eye area.

You will love the way your makeup glides on smooth as silk and the way your skin feels and looks. Hydrated and happy!

I am almost done with my beauty book (Whenever I  think I am done writing it I want to add something else) and this is a peek inside  my beauty filled world.

Enjoy darlings!

Beauty TIPS:

  • If you are still partying and have guests over this long weekend. Before your guests arrive or even if it is you alone with your pet. Prep with a ripe avocado face mask for softer skin while you cook.
  • You can also apply a hair mask on your hair and place a shower cap over it. Your body heat from running around the kitchen will make it work faster and condition your hair.
  • Put your sandals on and apply a dash of olive oil on your toes and condition your toes and nails while you whiz around the house with that vacuum cleaner.

Double duty beauty time and get your cooking, cleaning and beauty fix in too!

Beauty Secrets from around the globe!

image1

I’d like to share some simple beauty and skin care secrets from around the world!

Some are from my travels and some are from women I have met.

The women of Greece keep healthy  by eating that creamy and dreamy Greek yogurt we find readily available at stores.Since it contains so many health and beauty benefits. They are also avid users of skin care products made with olive oil. The women and men are mindful of what they eat and a Mediterranean diet is another beauty and lifestyle secret.

The women of China and Hong Kong clamor for pearl cream and sheet masks of all kinds.Examples: pearl, aloe, bamboo rose and more. They also eat lots of fresh fruits and vegetables. The latest and greatest that has made it to our US grocery stores is the Dragon fruit for it’s anti-aging properties.I love it in smoothies and acai bowls.

Egypt Cleopatra stated it all! The milk and honey bath and honey face masks.

France! Who doesn’t have a love affair with France. While there are many delectable pastries and breads the secret to their success is by eating small meals and just a taste of deserts. Not giant portions of them. Red wine is part of their daily evening meal.As you know it contains resveratrol and is really good for heart heath. The spas offer Vinotherapy which is a wine themed therapy all made with red wine. And wearing a luscious red lipstick and a pair of sunnies  go a long chic way!

Brazil  known for the infamous Brazilian butt lifts and Brazilian blowouts for flawless smooth hair.

I enjoy doing all of the above…minus the surgical butt lift and my hair does not need that type of treatment.

I hope you enjoy these beauty and skin secrets and experiment with them too!

If you’ve got the thyme!

photo Thyme

My weekend when not guest speaking out of town or painting a sports celebrities face is spent not only working in my makeup studio painting pretty faces and spirits but also stirring up some beauty.

I had some left over thyme from a chicken recipe I cooked for my husband and was in a lemony mood.

So here is what I whipped up…A YUMMY SCENTED and fabulous exfoliating hand and body scrub!

1/4 cup of coconut oil (can’t get enough of it) Whole Foods brand

1/4 cup Greek olive oil

1 cup of granulated sugar

1 dash of lemon essential oil (Auracacia brand)

1 sprig of thyme

Stir them all together with a whisk OR a portable hand mixer/blender. Creamy and sugar with a lemon scent twist.

After this was all done. I sprinkled the mixture with a few torn pieces of thyme.  The herb thyme has benefits but I LOVE the way it looked in the scrub.

I poured from a bowl into empty jam jars.(recycle your jam jars or buy and fill Ball brand jars)

Add a mini wooden spoon and you have a sweet exfoliating gift for yourself or someone else.

Something to do over these cold wintry months and take care of your skin too.

Enjoy this from a beauty who is a true foodie. Oops almost forgot I added the zest of lemon on top of the jar before I put the lid on and shook it back and forth.

D.I.Y. dahling!

Cold Outside D.I.Y.!

Today I will share on TV on a talk show called The Chat a few magical things that are HOT in the world of nails!

Here is one of my EASY recipes you will enjoy over and over again for your hands and feet.

It is snowing in autumn? Your skin and nails are flaky, dry, tight and getting dehydrated by the minute even though winter is 33 days away!

Oil Beauty Bath

1/4 cup of olive or grape seed oil (I like to use Whole Foods 365 Value Brand)

Heat oil on low in saucepan for a minute to get a warm temperature NOT hot.
Pour into a small soup bowl or buy a nail soak bowl from a beauty supply.
Place your fingers into the warm lush oil for at least 8-10 minutes.
Push back your cuticles afterwards with an orange wood stick.
Your nails will look so much better.
Blot your hands of oil and enjoy the hydrating skin glow.

Beet Beauty to the rescue~

beet-salad-1Some celebrities use strawberries on their teeth to make them whiter. Allure my fave beauty magazine recommends you try a bag of frozen peas on your eyes for puffiness. Women in Italy love olive oil for hair and skin.

I had to take it a bit further …when I forgot my tinted lipstain yesterday.

I had accidentally left my lipstick at my office on my desk in my cosmetic case.I own a cosmetic candy shoppe and I was lipstickless. I HATE not to have any color on my lips. I mean it drives me crazy!
Worse yet people stop me some days as they recognize me from my beauty & lifestyle segment on TV.

So,I took the beet from my salad and slipped it into a napkin and went into the powder room. I placed the fresh aubergine beet on my lips as if I were applying a lipstick. Then I applied a dash of the new mini pop in your purse Vaseline over the beet stain on my lips.
My lips were kissed with a soft ruby tint and I looked marvelous!

It’s fun to experiment…share with me what recipes you have come up with.
I love hearing from you.

Farmer’s Market fresh!

tomato

I hate when I have insomnia! Oh and when I wake up very early after I have tossed and turned ALL night makes me even more frustrated. So, what does this girl do? She makes a face mask to help you for the summer heat.

Fresh tomatoes from the farmer’s market are the best. Not only because they are FRESH but they make you feel good supporting your local farmer…don’t just buy from your local big box grocery store.Discover your local farmer’s market. The prices are even better! I love the Jacksonville Farmer’s Market. There is a vendor there who carries ALL KINDS of fruit and veggie treasures! SHE is ALWAYS there. Always helpful and has what I need and things I didn’t even think I need.

Tomatoes have been an old remedy for oily, very oily or blemished skin. These happy color red fruits are rich in minerals, vitamins like A,C and E. They nourish your skin and BODY when you eat them too.

1 Tomato

1 teaspoon of lemon juice

Dash of olive oil

Chop tomato and place in mini bullet blender or food processor and blend.

Apply the above that you whisked and mixed together in a bowl.

Apply on a CLEAN FACE staying away from you eye area of course.
Leave on 10 minutes or more. Depending on how much time you have.Rinse well a follow with light application of a moisturizer.

You’ll feel like a salad with vinaigrette. But don’t worry if you have any left over you can eat it too!

This mask also helps to control shine and oil when you are glistening in the summer time or SWEATING like I do.
