Hair Raising

I finally ventured out and shopped. Shopping 🛍 not for groceries but for FUN for a change. I have not shopped since March. But this 5 Minutes for ME shopping time felt good! WOW! I forgot what that feels like. But definitely remember what it looks like. A couple of stores I visited are NOT the same. The experience is so different and the mood is cold. It is a new shopping frontier with this pandemic.

It was hair raising.

Since I own a beauty business I ventured down the beauty aisle. So empty …so different.

What caught my eye since I am lip 💋obsessed was a hair brush with fuchsia lips. I HAD to have it! It was by the company called Wet Brush. The brand is NOT new to me.

I love their detangling hair loving and protecting brushes. Wish I had these brushes in my teen years too as I have always had long hair and struggled with tangles. Only in the past couple of years have i lightened it up and got my hair cut a bit shorter. My hair loves to tangle so these brushes protect and love my hair too. Since I get a lot of compliments on my hair and people wonder whats my secret to healthy looking haircare I highly recommend these brushes and allow your hair to AIR dry naturally. No heat damage for me or over drying by a blow dryer.

I also was drawn to another brush on the rack that was called a SHINE enhancer brush by Wet Brush.

  • Detangles hair and brings natural shine.
  • Detangles with less force and less damage.
  • Shine enhancing
  • Made from natural boar and exclusive IntelliFlex bristles.

This brush is AMAZING and does what it says on the package above. I AM IN ❤️LOVE. By the way, the Shine Brush also works beautifully with DRY shampoo too!

If and or when you venture out shopping and have some time for you. Masked up and hand sanitizer in hand check out these brushes and give them a whirl. I know you will enjoy them too.

Happy Shopping.

Can you smell the lovely scent ?

On a long holiday weekend I love to make things and they are usually with a beauty or baking twist.

Cause I am on the road for work alot I am happy to stay in and chill. I made sugar cookies with lavender. And I made this scalp treat for my hair. I LOVE LAVEVDER! Do you? The scent is so relaxing, soothing,RELIEVES tension and great for migraines or a basic headache.

5 drops of essential oil. (I prefer Aura Cacia)

1/4 cup of olive oil (organic)

I Warm the oil and shut burner off. Sprinkle in the drops on the stove top and stir. The oil will make conditioning hair love~

I like to apply on wet hair. Massage into the scalp and the ends a bit too.I take a shower cap I have from my hotel stays and place my hair up in it. Leave on at least 15 minutes.

Shampoo when done. Rinse well.

If you are up to your lips in work or that TO DO list enjoy making and using this aromatic softer hair and happy hydrated scalp too!

ENJOY the beauty of lavender!

DIY Beauty Recipe: A Lavender-Infused Coconut Oil Hair Treatment

What You Need For This Recipe:

  • Small Bowl
  • 2 Tablespoons of Unrefined, Virgin Coconut Oil
  • Fresh or Dried Lavender Springs (or 2 drops essential oil)
  • Measuring Spoons

Step 1: Place in a bowl Measure out 2 tablespoons of coconut oil and add it to your bowl. Depending on your hair length, you may want to add more or less oil to the bowl. For medium-to-long hair, two tablespoons should suffice. If your coconut oil has turned to liquid, just measure it out like normal.

Step 2: Add Lavender Remove the greens and/or buds from your lavender and place it in the bowl with your coconut oil. If you want to add a little more for fragrance, that’s okay. A few pinches is plenty.

Step 3: Infuse Your Lavender Next, we’re going to infuse the lavender into the coconut oil. To do this, create a bain-marie by placing your bowl over a sauce pan filled with water. Turn your heat to low-medium and allow the coconut oil to melt down, stirring periodically. If your coconut oil is already liquid, you still want to do this, as the warmth from the water bath will expedite the lavender oil extraction. Keep your bain-marie going for 45 minutes to one hour, then remove from the heat.

Step 4: Cool and Strain Allow your infused coconut oil to set for 10 to 15 minutes, or until it is slightly warm (not hot). Remove the lavender pieces if desired.

Step 5: Apply to Hair Work the oil through your hair, focusing on the ends where hair gets dry. You can also focus on the scalp if you’re dealing with itchy, dry skin or dandruff. Let the oil set for 15 to 45 minutes. The longer it sets, the better. Shampoo and style as normal.

Step 6: Revel in Softer, Prettier Hair Want to improve your hair even more?

Note: LAVENDER not only smells amazing, and many simply use aromatic lavender for its calming effects.topically, lavender, like coconut oil,is antibacterial and therefore helps with dandruff too.It also helps to soften the hair.

Oh and if you’re celebrity obsesssed they love to do it too.

ENJOY!

Scandal …and Bouncin’ & Behavin’ Hair!

Yesterday I tried a shampoo and conditioner for the very first time..the brand is called White Sands. It came boxed in a kit and I was anxious to try something new.You know how we love shiny pretty packaging.

And as most girls we like to play with and try new things! My hair (like yours) has been through the winter roller coaster of dry, frizzy and flyaway. Almost like a kitchen Brillo pad.

The floral scent of orchids filled my shower softly and my hair took to it well. I loved the way the conditioner did not weigh my hair down and took away my tangles. My locks are long and are not as strong as they used to be.

I try to eat right and that keeps my hair shiny from inside out.But dry and frizzy it has become from the weather this winter.

You may have noticed in my blog posts I love to whip up things in my kitchen for my hair…but besides my avocado mash…I am aghast!

I AM IN LOVE…this product is amazing. What I am even more amazed is to learn that this brand is used on Celebrities and on shows on TV.

Pretty Little Liars,Mad Men,Scandal,Jane the Virgin,State of Affairs and Glee…I see I am in delightful company!

Avocado & Hellmann’s Mayo Hair Delight

It is a steamy hot day and today I have declared it a day for my husband and I to have a spa like day!
I made a bodacious big breakfast (for a change), we went for a couples massage as we usually do and now just finished yummy Chinese Take Out too.

As he naps I am putting the finishing touches on the recipe I started this morning in my kitchen.Later we will BOTH enjoy this moisturizing hair treatment.

Here is what you’ll need if you want to make my nutrition filled delight.

1 ripe avocado
1 cup of real MAYONNAISE (I prefer Hellmann’s brand)
2 tablespoons of almond oil

Mix these ingredients together well and make a creamy smooth potion.

I like to wet our hair first and then apply the mask like green goodness and brush through the hair.

Next is really optional but you might really like it. I use a wet hot steamy towel that I have microwaved for a few minutes. Take care and please dont’ make the towel too hot.

Wrap your hair/head with this wet towel like a turban.
Leave the treatment on for 15 minutes if you have more time to spare try 20 minutes.

Rinse, wash your hair with warm water and your fave shampoo and add a lite hair conditioner.
Your tired and dry summer hair will feel amazing tomorrow, scalp hydrated and your hair will be super shiny!

I’d love to hear from you…share with me any recipes you love too!

Day 8 to more beautiful skin!

Your scalp is a part of your skin …it doesn’t just stop at the forehead. The winter weather or extreme heat/tropical climates can make your hair really really dry. Olive oil, almond oil or salon purchase Moroccan oil are all essentials you need to stock up on.

Give yourself a light head massage with a dash of one of these oils on your hands and rub gently on the ends of your hair and on your scalp.A little goes a long way. I like to go to sleep after this and allow the oil to nourish your hair.
Wanna learn more about a head massage? Try an Indian Head massage technique…look it up online and discover what you can do. I do this every week on my hair as well as my husband’s scalp too. He loves it and it really works to improve circulation to the scalp…and offers soothing relaxation.
Hair raising couple fun Or massage for one.
Keep your hair nourished, soft, hydrated and say bye bye dry fly aways!
