Day 2 Gifts for HIM!

HIMS.jpg

Today I wants to share a subscription box that your sweetie will appreciate. Not all guys can SEE themselves in the mirror. They see what they want to see. But my handsome husband sees a thinning hair and is not happy. Guys want to look and FEEL good about themselves too. So, I reached out to this company to feature their box on my Holiday Gift guide for HIM on TV. They accommodated me with a box of their ever popular starter box at a special price for men!

The San Francisco company was started by a man and OBVIOUSLY he too wants to look his best! This is a photo of the box you might have seen on commercials for ONLY $5.00 Beautiful Bucks

It is a complete hair kit for men!

It contains a shampoo,Multivitamin Gummies which are all the rage and a topical solution to help with hair growth and giving the hair follicles what they need.

It comes in  a manly box and has a HIMS cloth travel bag for the guy on the go and a descriptive brochure with it.

Consistency is key!!! Really!

As with all products we use the more regular they are used, the better. OH so true! As a beauty and skin care therapist I often I OFTEN see and hear how a woman tried an eye or face cream and did not see results, When I probe they say they used it now and then. Well, you can’t see result unless you use ANY beauty and skin care product for awhile. Consistency is key. Even on a diet to lose weight. RIGHT?

Besides hair care they have an a la carte line of skin care with simple packaging and names.

If you want to enhance your husbands world and help him maintain and healthy and handsome looking appearance or you find him borrowing and probing into your toiletry basket or vanity. Get him something he can use. Add a box of home-made cookies and or a beer and you’re good to go. Not a talking fish on a plaque or something else he doesn’t need. You don;t need to spend a fortune.

Little did I know my manly and burly 6 ft. 2 husband already reached out to HIMS a few weeks ago and ordered a hair shampoo online from them and is using it religiously. I spy in the bathroom. I didn’t say a word I just smiled and said to myself…good for you!

Sometimes men don’t know what they want or need. Sometimes it is good to help them along. This Christmas think about that stocking stuffer or gift you give to all the guys in your life.

You’ll be glad you did and so will they.

By the way, the code is hims5 … A BOX of Follicle Fun!

Peace,Love and Blowouts!

drybar-photo-blog-jpgHave you ever had an actual blowout? No, not your tire blowout but a hair blowout. Many women do not know what it is.

A couple of weeks ago  a new spot for hair opened in Jacksonville,Florida. This is epic for the city. The name of the business is DRYBAR.

No cuts,no color, just blowouts!!! That’s all they do.

I have had this service done at other salons across the country but never by this brand. I tried to get one a blowout while working in these cities… Las Vegas,NYC and Chicago bu all locations were booked. They have sixty locations to serve you and offer long convenient hours. They recently opened a shop in a section called Brooklyn. So, being homesick and craving my NYC. I HAD TO GO!

The reception at the front desk was awesome. They took a good guess on my name and calling me by it once I walked in.What caught my eye first is all the yellow and white decor and when you enter the overhead lamp is made with a yellow blow dryer.

Pretty cool!

Next they asked me if I wanted something to drink. The offerings were:water, coffee, tea and a Champagne mimosa. I of course chose the Mimosa.

Blowouts I could choose from the service menu were named after drinks. If you don’t drink alcohol this could be a problem. But the services are described beautifully in the menu alongside pictures of how that style will look.

I chose the Manhattan and a dash of Southern Comfort.

What  I wasn’t ready for was it took a total of 45 minutes! The stylists wash and work at styling and blow dry every strand of hair and they follow a certain protocol. If you do not want your locks to be pampered… you may not like this service.

I enjoyed my experience and you will too. Give them a whirl!

The holidays are coming and you may just need that special look for all the holiday parties and New Years Eve too. #treatyoself!

Scandal …and Bouncin’ & Behavin’ Hair!

orchid_bliss_pack_3979_orchid

Yesterday I tried a shampoo and conditioner for the very first time..the brand is called White Sands. It came boxed in a kit and I was anxious to try something new.You know how we love shiny pretty packaging.

And as most girls we like to play with and try new things! My hair (like yours) has been through the winter roller coaster of dry, frizzy and flyaway. Almost like a kitchen Brillo pad.

The floral scent of orchids filled my shower softly and my hair took to it well. I loved the way the conditioner did not weigh my hair down and took away my tangles. My locks are long and are not as strong as they used to be.

I try to eat right and that keeps my hair shiny from inside out.But dry and frizzy it has become from the weather this winter.

You may have noticed in my blog posts I love to whip up things in my kitchen for my hair…but besides my avocado mash…I am aghast!

I AM IN LOVE…this product is amazing. What I am even more amazed is to learn that this brand is used on Celebrities and on shows on TV.

Pretty Little Liars,Mad Men,Scandal,Jane the Virgin,State of Affairs and Glee…I see I am in delightful company!

Eventually you gotta say goodybe to your beauty booty!

NB8J8503Now’s the time to take better care of you and your health too.The start of spring or a new year does not mean thinking about losing weight and eating right. Yes, they count however it is also a time to start fresh with your beauty products, makeup brushes and manscaping supplies. Like milk, fruits and other foods your beauty has a shelf life. Once opened, kept too long or stored in a steamy bathroom or car they need to be replaced.

Give yourself a few hours in the morning when you are fresh or a few in the afternoon. Spread out your things on a portable table and evaluate. How long ago did I buy this? When was the last time I used it? Did I ever use it? Does it smell funky or has it gone bad. Did you know once opened even if you have not used it much the air and sunlight affects your product and can change its effectiveness.
Once skin care products hit the light, they lose their super powers. That is why you see so many brands use amber, dark blue or opaque packaging.

Once you have got the old or used products lined up that you do not use anymore…I like to play a game called let’s throw it out. Have a garbage can ready.

Here is my professional guide on how long you should keep your products:
Skin care: A year or more.
Tooth Brush: Throw out every three months at least.
Hair Brush: Once a year.
Sonic Face Cleansing Brush or Toothbrush head: Throw out every three to six months.
Eye cream: A year or more.
Retin-A: Less than a year.
Foundation: Liquid lasts a year or more. Cream a year or two. Powder base lasts the longest.
Lipstick: Two years or more
Lip-gloss or lip balm: lasts approximately a year or two.
Blush: Powder blush lasts approximately 2 years or more & cream blush lasts a year or less.
Lip and eyeliners, brow liners: I find good quality pencils last longer than you think. They can last years.
Liquid or gel eyeliners: Liquid lasts years and gel will only last a year. Less IF you do not close the lid properly. Gel liners dry out fast!
Eye shadow: Powder lasts years unlike crams which last a year or less.
Mascara: A healthy rule is 3 months or more.
Loose powder: Can last years.
Shampoo: A couple of years.
Conditioner: A couple of years.
Nail Polish: A year or more if it does not come out right on the nail when you use it will need to be thrown out.
Perfume OR After-shave: Once opened or closed it does expire. A year or a bit more.
Makeup Brushes or makeup sponges; need your attention too. Replace your sponges often so germs do not build up. A sign they are getting old is when they fray and start to fall apart. If your makeup brushes start fall apart and hairs start to fall out in small or large clumps it is definitely time to think about replacing them. If the hairs separate from the silver ferrule this part and cut your face. throw it out.Not all your makeup brushes just the ones that are not working well when you apply and blend your makeup or falling apart.

When in doubt…if it smells strange, gets rancid or changes color and or doesn’t move and apply like it used to…throw it out.

Once Opened Beauty Expiration Kit is a cool kit that you can mark your products purchase date with a water-resistant label and pen. It comes in a cute kit that lets you know how long you had that product.

Use up what you have and LOVE, throw out what you are NOT using. Do not pass USED makeup on to your daughter, friends’ mom or family. You will spread bacteria and they may even give them a skin or eye infection. While I love saving money it is not worth handing down…just throw the products out.

Do not allow your products to clutter your bathroom or house and get in your way.Deleting and updating these will keep your skin, eyes, face, lips and body healthy.
Guys too this includes you too!

Start spring right and with fresh beauty and a good and healthy habit. It will make a world of difference!

Back from travel eco-beauty

Coming back from a trip a good thing to do is to reuse/re-purpose your mini hotel shampoo, conditioner and shower gel.

Wash your makeup brushes with the leftover shampoo. Shave your legs with leftover conditioner, wash your bras and panties with leftover shower gel.

Green is the new black my little fashionistas and it feels good to be it too!
