Pumpkin spice and Coconut milk…Yum!

What a delicious combination.

Just enjoyed a delightful meal that I am so grateful for. My sister-in-law made some awesome Southern food sides that my husband is so thrilled she made for us to enjoy at home.

I am thinking about a relaxing way to end the day besides being oh so thankful for all that I have in my life. Too blessed to be stressed.

You know I am ALWAYS thinking of all things health and beauty so I am going to do a recipe I have enjoyed before. THIS ones for the bath. I love baths! I love showers too! But I love detoxifying beautiful baths of all kinds!

It’s 70’s one day and 54 the next in Florida. Kinda crazy… but true. I see my skin is on a little dry skin roller coaster too. So, what’s a girl to do this Thanksgiving … treat myself and nourish my body with hydrating goodness.

Going to soak in a seasonal scent aromatic elixir and calm my mind of all the chatter and tomorrows To Do list. I know what you’re thinking you usually cook with these. But they actually are great in a bath. I am obsessed with all the food and spices and herbs in our kitchen. Not just for cooking.

All you need is:

1 can of organic coconut milk

1-2 Teaspoons of Pumpkin Spice (Just because it is Thanksgiving)

Swirl your body in to a warm bath and soak at least 10 minutes.

Rinse well with a quick shower and get out very carefully.

Dry yourself off patting gently.

Next apply your fave hand and body lotion.

Or simply use a scoop of organic coconut oil.

I can’t begin to tell you how lush and softening this bath is. The way it smells is also amazzzing.

Life’s short! We’re in the middle of a pandemic. Be grateful and enjoy all the yummy little things life has to offer! There are so many beautiful benefits in taking a nice bath!

Natural and aromatic…

Because you asked…here’s a recipe for a natural way (NO harsh chemicals) to clean your makeup sponges and makeup brushes at home. This is what I use too.

However, for my beauty business I do extensive cleaning and also use SterileLight Disinfecting case.

1-2 tablespoons of Castile soap

1 1/2tablespoons white vinegar

1 cup of warm water (Use a bit more water if you would like to)

12 drops of lavender Tea Tree oil (if you prefer less essential oil and the scent use 6 drops) I love Aura Cacia essential oils.

Wash your brushes in the water with the above.

Please note:

A lipstick brush or a foundation brush will be more concentrated and need EXTRA attention. Remove any slick buildup and continue wash and swishing around in the water longer. Also PRESS OUT this residue in a paper towel and make sure all the color and product is gone out of the brush.

Rinse well.

Rinse again.

Squeeze out the residue and rest your brushes on a paper towel overnight.

Next morning they will be dry, fresh and ready for you to make up your pretty face!

Don’t let makeup and your facial oils mount up on your makeup brushes and sponges. Don’t spread bacteria and use makeup brushes and sponges daily for weeks. Wash them at least once a week. These are tough pandemic times. You can’t be too clean or too safe. Can we? AND you don’t want those unwanted zits!

A rare beauty find!

I have had clients with all kinds of skin issues from a giant zit on their wedding day to sun spots from spending a lifetime outdoors.

But I never knew what to quite do when I had a new client call me with Vitiligo.

So,since it is World Vitiligo Day I thought I’d share with you a brand and Camouflage Makeup Kit … JUST for this condition. A rare beauty find!

Fake Bake ( you know the famous self tan company) has come up with a beautiful brand and product to help people who have a skin condition called Vitiligo.

Created by a Vitiligo patient this system is everything you need to make Vitiligo appear to vanish! Glides on smoothly to temporarily match your existing pigment. Customizable and for warmer to cooler complexions to lighter skin tones.

Nice tropical 🌴 scent! Paraben Free!

Created by a woman and a patient who has this skin condition.

The woman behind the VV brand is Jackie McDonald is a miracle worker. They say accidents are the Mother of Invention. And by chance and a bit of a playful beauty accident Vitiligo Vanquish was born!

Makeup artists need this in their beauty essentials kit…just in case.

Spread the word…whether you do makeup, skincare or YOU have or a family member or friend has Vitiligo …be in the know. Sharing is caring. I LOVE helping people. I hope I have helped you or someone you know by this post.

Vitiligo Vanquish is running a special I just noticed until June 30th. Worth a look.

You said “Yes to the DRESS!”

So you’re engaged… How wonderful!

When you plan your wedding large or small you need to put your hair, makeup and skincare close to the top of that list of things to do too. You want to look your best. Don’t you?

Your Skin

Several months before the big day you need to get your skin ready and for it to look the best it can be. If you don’t already do it get a Deep Cleansing Facial. Getting a facial is like getting your teeth professionally cleaned by the dental hygienist but for your skin. The photographs you take on your special day and leading up to your wedding day last a lifetime.

The esthetician at a spa or clinic analyzes your skin and makes a plan so your skin  will look its absolute healthiest.

She or he will spend time exfoliating, toning, hydrating and skin tightening your face with various products and devices. Whatever they think your skin needs. Times have changed and technology is so advanced. So many wonderful things available to us now than ever before.

The skin therapist will set up a skin care routine and products for you to do at home as well. She may just become your new best friend!

If you don’t have an esthetician  ask a friend or do a Google search. There is nothing like your friends referral. Right?

Your Hair

If you would like to try someone else rather than your regular hairstylist …DO IT. Especially if you need someone to do some up dos and elaborate hair styling. There are stylists who cut hair, color hair and some who specialize in … just doing brides!

It all depends on the LOOK you are looking for. “Country Charm, Snow Princess or Earth Angel”. I know you have a vision. Let them know what it is. Book a consultation  first to see their work and ask to see their look book.

They usually have photographs of their work on their website or on Instagram. Many celebrities work with fashion stylists, hair stylists, makeup artists that not only do great work they select ones who they FEEL comfortable with. Not just your regular haircuts and trims but by a hair treatment so your hair will not look dull, lifeless, split ends and frizzy.  The stylist will recommend professionally a hair product plan for you to use at home too. Think of this routine like they are like a gym for your hair. Get your hair in the best shape it can be.

Your Makeup

Lastly, you will need to find a makeup artist. Time to decide if you want one for your wedding day or do you want to do your own makeup the day of your wedding. A makeup artist can make you look your best in person and in photographs by a photographer or iPhone camera.

You don’t want your skin to look shiny, blemished, your eyes look tired or your blush obviously overdone. It is all in the details.

If you typically don’t wear false eyelashes or don’t like them.Don’t do it. If you are not comfortable in them or they are not your style it is best to stay away from them. Same is true of makeup. You don’t want your makeup to be over the top. You have to let the hairstylist and makeup artist know what you want. Bring them photos from bridal magazines or from photos and looks you like online. This will help them to help you.

Next time I will share with you and we will explore the …

Must Have Beauty Essentials & more for your wedding day.

Don’t let this pandemic get in your way. Make plans for your beautiful day!

I’m really trying to enjoy being more green, clean and eco friendly…with my food and lifestyle.

And in my skincare too!

Skin is so in…Especially when it is healthy looking. If your skin is not looking the way you would like it to… Perhaps its time to try something fresh and new! Looking good takes a little effort girls and so worth it. If you do not have a skin care regime now is the time to start. Also if you have been wearing sweat pants and not taking care of your skin think about taking time for YOU and get your skin in shape too.

They say “You are what you eat” and it is so true. Eating right … with a little bit of a naughty is really best. All in balance and moderation darlings! I’ve been on a kick of making SMOOTHIE BOWLS and making them is so much fun too. Your whole family will enjoy.

I love to get glowing, use beauty from my kitchen, a local farmer’s market, and make a few D.I.Y. beauty recipes and beauty potions on my own.

I will share some of the them on my new podcast to come too! But here are a few for you to enjoy this Memorial day too.

Take care of your skin and your skin will always take care of you!

Recipe for pretty skin starts from within. Not only are these good to eat they are good to use as skincare. Especially when many of us are on stay at home orders.

Yogurt (plain Greek yogurt) makes a GREAT cheap and chic face mask. Apply to a clan face and leave on at least 15 minutes. Genty exfoliates dead skin cells too.

Avocados are a great for hydrating your face and neck. Add honey to a mashed avocado and leave on at least 15 minutes. Your skin will LOVE it.

Bananas work wonders on dry elbows and knees. If your bananas are beyond ripe and you don’t feel like making banana bread…give your skin a moisturizing natural treat.

In addition, when the weather is hot and you want to chill down and make your skin feel amazing. Take a plain ice cube and rub gently on your skin. Not your eye area but try on the face. It will tighten your pores and make your makeup glide on beautifully. I also like to use an ice cube on my chest and neck. So cool and refreshing.

Have a BEAUTY filled deligthful day!

Foot Bath Recipe

Time to take care of those precious feet of yours. Self care Sunday is here!

We are tired. Tired 😴 of this pandemic and need a lift! Right?

So here are two refreshing DIY recipes to try. Summer is here and you want better looking and softer feet too. Don’t you?

Fill a foot basin or create one with what you have with warm water and some 🍋 lemon and orange 🍊 slices. Place a couple of drops of peppermint essential oil.

Unless you’re allergic choose another oil of your choice like eucalyptus or tea tree.

Place your feet 🦶 in the bath.

Soak your feet for at least 15 minutes.

Rinse your feet and place your fave hand and body lotion or cream.

Your feet will feel so AmaZzzing!

Another creamy and dreamy treatment you can do is simple and so delightful! It will cost you under $2.00 I hope you have it in your kitchen pantry.

Do one soak today and another foot soak later in the week.

Fill a bath with warm water 💦 and soak your feet with a cup of coconut 🥥 milk 🥛. It is a treatment many cultures like to do. Softens the skin and heels too. Afterwards be careful and rinse off the milk and water bath. Towel dry and put a pair of white socks on. Go to bed.

Wake up feeling better and softer and with a smile on your feet 🦶

I discovered something while shaving …

There is an unwelcome guest on my big toe that gets me where I want to go. It is small the size of a straight pin head. It is black and under the nail. I am worried as it came out of nowhere. Moving from up North to sunny Florida 🌞 🌴 for my husband has it’s rewards but it’s got a downside too. You need to wear a sunscreen here even more. And liberally apply it too. Cause the sun keeps following you… even on a cloudy day.

So since its skin cancer awareness month and as a beauty and skin care professional I had to share! I feel no pain. Nothing is red or inflamed looking but it IS there a few weeks now.

I happen to have a skin care check up booked for next week. So the timing could be more perfect. I’ll let you know how it goes.

I am kinda of scared. I have had squamous cell cancer. The last two times I pointed out brown spots on their face and body to my clients … they were skin cancer and they are no longer with us.

Have you got an appointment booked with your dermatologist for YOUR annual skin care checkup? 👩‍⚕️ 👨‍⚕️

What day of the week is it? I…

I truly don’t even know. I think it might be Thursday or Friday. Have you started to lose track of time? Or the day of the week too?

That’s why I thought of a warm cozy bath 🛁 recipe for tonight or this weekend. A bathtub is such a special place and time you can have with yourself. And making this beauty recipe or adding luxurious soaps, bubble bath 🛀 or bath bombs and candles to the space can really make it even more to adore and make you want to bathe some more.

They say Cleopatra loved this kind of bath as well as used the beauty of goat milk as a soap to clean her skin.

A shower is nice but a bath is twice as nice!

Here’s what you will need for this bath:

1 cup of milk

1/4 cup of honey

Pour both of the above in the tub filled with warm water NOT too hot.

Sit in this COZY relaxing mix. It is such a sweet escape and skin softening treat.

Finish the night with a glass of whole milk or any other type of milk and add a decadent cookie. Treat yourself well.

Getaway! Escape! Give yourself a break! YOU deserve it.

Night Time IS the Right Time! ⏰

Women I meet in my travels and in my private studio continue to ask me how to get their skin clean. They say they don’t have a clue on what to really do.

I tell them to NEVER go to sleep without washing your face or with the days makeup on (and remove every trace of mascara too) as well as getting a great nights sleep. That is why they call it beauty sleep.

I know that’s not always easy to get when you are sleepless in Seattle. But a good nights sleep is essential nightly as your skin needs it.

You need to make a plan and create a nightly beauty ritual and do it every night.

Do what’s right for you and select a skin care line that is so you. You can mix and match. A soap from one brand and a cream from another. But try and keep a few from the same line if possible so you don’t have an allergic reaction.

Just a few easy steps!

Clean:

You may use a soap bar (not deodorant) liquid soap but cream cleanser at night.

Tone:

Rosewater makes a refreshing toner. Stay away from strong alcohol based ones. Way too drying to the skin.

Nourish and Hydrate:

Choose a moisturizer that is light but at night you can use a richer one. It all depends on how your skin is behaving. Your skin changes as the seasons change and from stress or the weather outdoors. Your moisturizer must change to go with the flow.

Eye care:

A hydrating Eye gel or light eye cream is perfect. A little goes a long way.

And remember don’t scrub or rub your face like you’re washing your car or pots and pans. Be gentle with your delicate skin.

Always treat your neck and décolleté to what you put on your face. Not just your face!

So that’s it as far as a SIMPLE nightly skin ritual.

With all the comments all over social media and hearing conversations all around me from Sunday’s Super Bowl 2020… for what it’s worth I decided I have to weigh in!

While I am not into sports. I am into my job and career and So I tuned in  and watched the Halftime Show with singers 🎶 Shakira and Jennifer Lopez.

The two things I heard most were all about the clothing the two halftime stars ⭐️ wore and performed in and how it wasn’t child 👶 🧒 friendly. In fact that their style of dress was vulgar and disappointing. I know little ones and teens don’t need to really see all that shaking and sexy barely there clothing. I get it. But most adults watch and go to the game.

The one thing I’d like to remind everyone offended is… it was a PERFORMANCE and they were asked to perform, entertain and give the crowd (who paid so much $ money 💵 for a ticket for the game) their monies worth!!!

I am far from conservative but I do know entertainers need to entertain and dress that way! Ala Viva Las Vegas and anywhere else performers perform!

I thought all their efforts and hard work paid off! It’s not easy to dance, sing, jump, and fly across a stage on their knees and SING  in front of hundreds of people!!!

The second set of comments was about women and how we are NOT done when we turn 40+ and that we STILL have so much in us and that we can be sexy!

Some women seemed to PRAISE and some displayed envy (I think) by both singers appearance from head to toe to BOOTY!!!

I don’t know if you caught it on the news but the reason JLo started her part of the show high on a pole was because she felt women need to be high up! Support your girl tribe and show ALL girls  can raise up, rise up and reach for the stars.

While I did not like the part of the show where a male singer tapped her butt cheek with his 🖐hand… THAT was most unexpected and unacceptable to me.

Also the little girls and her daughter in the show did not need to see that in your face dancing 💃 on a stage, with sexy pelvic gestures and it didn’t have to be so long. I like when a singer sings and performs not just shakes her booty for most of the show. How about you?

Do you know what I mean?

At the end of the day… JLo’s lifestyle of not drinking, eating well, regular exercise routine , and lots of makeup and faux lashes and beauty maintenance like $500.00 facials… all are working for her! She is beautiful!

And having JLo’s loyal and talented GLAM 💫Team doesn’t hurt either!

We can learn a lot from Shakira if she shared with us how she stays in shape etc. I (like Wendy Williams said on her show) loved her makeup. It was simple and her skin was lovely too. Those hips and thighs don’t lie. She’s eating well and obviously exercises lots too.  I’d say both ladies are aging beautifully. And they are not letting age stop them from being the best self despite not being 20.

Age IS just a number. Stop counting the years and put down that cupcake!
