Stress Less Tips!

In a hurricane , tropical storm or just life now… we NEED comforting.

Here are some of my personal tips to help!

❤️ Take a warm comforting bath before the storm or you lose electricity. Or if the storm passes you or just any day chill out in a bath 🛀 even if you are a shower person. IT will make you feel better!

Add a few flowers 🌸 or rose 🌹 petals & it’s pure bliss!

I like to use Epsom salt and a few dashes of essential oil. Rose, lavender or lemon. I like to add shower gel to the tub for bubbles.

(Not crafters oil fragrance) The real thing!

❤️ This is NOT the time to go on a diet! Eat and drink things that comfort you. Bake some cookies from scratch. Make a pot of cozy hot chocolate or Chai tea.

Yum!
Rest up!

❤️ Try taking a nap or at least try and get a good nights sleep. It really helps with stress! It also is so good for your health!

❤️ Or give each other a massage. The scalp, shoulders, hands or feet. Even the family can get in on the fun.

Massage oil from your kitchen!

Practice a bit of meditation. Or start yoga. I have not been doing it for many years but I have added it to my life. It makes such a big difference.

❤️ Meditation 🧘‍♀️ calms the mind. If you don’t what to do. Just be still and quiet. Surround yourself with a salt lamp or a faux candle. Illuminate your space.

Soothe your spirits!

❤️ I’m not a doctor but my massage therapist and doctors over the years suggested I take one magnesium supplement at night. They say it relaxes the body and acts like a muscle relaxant. I practice that and it is quite effective. Sweet Dreams!

❤️ Spray your sheets or towels with lavender oil or peppermint oil. One calms and the peppermint lifts spirits.

❤️ Still feeling stress ? Chew gum or enjoy a hard candy. I love a candy brand called Jolly Ranchers!

❤️ Keep hydrated! Drinking Water 💦 is your body’s best friend. But a little Prosecco helps too. Or whatever floats your boat!

If you have a tip that you’d like to share with me. I’d love to hear from you.

I hope a few of these tips help and comfort you! Hurricane if not. We ALL need to take comfort.

Sweet Dreams Darling

Are you Sleepless in Seattle like me? I find a lot of us are. This pandemic isn’t very pretty and a bit stressful too.

So here are a few tips I use or have started to use to get better sleep that I find are working and make me look better when I wake up too.

Drinking tea like Chamomile or Holy Basil are calming to the nervous system and great to enjoy a cup an hour or so before you go to bed.

Buy fresh lavender online and get some muslin or organza bags you can find at the craft or Dollar store. Make yourself some fresh lavender bud sachets. Place in pillowcase or hang from the bed post. The soothing and calming scent will make you feel relaxed. You can even make an eye mask with them if you like to sew.

Take a bath…Especially if you are a shower guy or gal. Baths are miracle workers and can really settle you down after a long day. Even more so now. Use Epsom salts and add a few drops of jojoba and lavender oil. I like the brand called Aura Cacia. Did you know they even make lavender tea? So delightful to the tongue and to your spirits.

If you want to refresh tired feet soak them in a water basin and give them a bath with a few drops of peppermint oil.

Discover Spongelle... it is a hand wash buffer sponge that gives you  at least 40 hand washings and sanitizes too. More effective at removing germs and dirt than soap alone. The best part it has aromatherapy like ThymeTea Tree Oil. You can use it in a bath,in the shower or hand washing. You can even travel with it. Since we need to wash our hands often and haven’t been able to get manicures. I love to use this to keep clean especially for behind the finger nails. I’ve cut my nails back and love how clean and soft yet not dry my hands are.

A good nights sleep I think also requires clean pretty sheets and a lush BETTER  pillow. I found a pillow that is great to not only sleep with but helps with sleep wrinkles,Morning puffiness and marks. Bye Bye puffy face when you wake up in the morning!

Sleep and Glow  is designed with your face in mind! And is the brand and I can’t wait for you to check it out too.

Don’t want to age fast?

No matter what your age… The two quickest ways to age your skin are not washing your face before you go to sleep and going to bed with your makeup on! Can you guess what the other is?  We’ll get back to that shortly.

Not washing your face day & night and removing ALL your makeup is so important for happy healthy looking skin. Your face needs to be clean BEFORE you go to sleep every single night. So, get to it if you want to have amazing skin.

Another reason the skin ages faster is by not wearing sunscreen daily. Even when it isn’t sunny 🌞 outside. I know what you’re thinking … I don’t need it much really. Or just need to use it in the summer a little. I was a late sunscreen bloomer! Living up north we only had two real months to enjoy in the sun! But eventually I grew a bit older and wiser. I realized I needed to be sun smart and added sunscreen to my daily beauty regime.

I’m not trying to lecture you I’m simply trying to help you.

So, if you want to look your best longer… wash your face nightly and add sunscreen in your life! 24/7 and 365 days a year.

You’ll thank me one day.

Cold & Flu Season Beauty🤧

I woke up the other day and felt awful…like a Mack truck ran over me. I was clammy, runny nose, sore throat and had laryngitis.

I was forced by my body to stay in bed several days. I hadn’t felt like this in a year. What I know for sure is when you’re sick at home and stuck in bed… you need to really rest and take care of yourself! And do something nice for yourself.

And if you don’t have energy to even take a quick shower or bath 🛀 just do a few things to make yourself FEEL better.

Here are a few tips…

Don’t get dehydrated. Drink plenty of liquids.

*Fresh squeezed juice is a nice bonus. If you can’t juice 🥤 your own. Try and keep a store bought one in your freezer or refrigerator.

Refresh your skin with a cozy hot towel soaked with a dash of Vick’s vapor rub. Place over your nose and on your chest. Help those nasal passages & chest congestion.

Light a flameless 🕯 candle. Or better yet purify the air by lighting a Himalayan salt stone lamp. They light 💡 up the room with such a pretty, peaceful, ambience. And nowadays are cheap but bring so much joy!

Place your feet 🦶 in white cotton socks with your fave hand 🖐 & body lotion. Or another tip is to slather on a coat of Vick’s Vapo rub. Then place those tired feet in fresh white socks. Feels 😊 so good! Really helps with softening the feet and they say helps your cold leave faster. It also makes your feet feel good and skin softer too.

Turn on a white noise machine or listen to music in your chair or bed.

Open the curtains and let the SUN 🌞Shine in! Let the sunlight warm you up. The light will lift your spirits too.

Put on a 💄 lipstick, gloss or lip conditioner and you’ll be feeling better before you know it.

Guys you need a lip balm too! When you have a cold or the flu your lips will get dry. Very dry. Maybe even peel and flake.

Keep the skin on your face moist with a beauty oil or moisturizer. Sneezing, wiping, or blowing your nose can make your nose, face and cheeks red and raw. And dry! Keep that skin soft!

This might be a good time to put on a sunless tanner…while you’re stranded at home.It might even make you feel better. It def will make you look better.

Spray your pillow cases and sheets with a mix of 95 distilled or tap water and a few drops of lavender or Tea Tree oil.

selective focus photo of bottle with cork lid

A hydrating KBeauty sheet mask is another good thing you could do to make yourself feel better.

If you have a fever… straighten the bed. Fluff up the pillows and sprinkle your fave body powder on the sheets.

Brush your hair with a dry 🧴 shampoo. Keep it handy at your bedside.

Place your journal, prayer book,a good book, magazines or adult coloring book 📚 near you. Place a mini notepad 📝 and pen by you too . You may think of things you need to buy or to do once you’re up to it.

Keep things close so you don’t have to get up and down from the 🛌 bed.

Chicken soup or Chinese hot and sour soup work wonders.

Feel hot and clammy? Got a fever? I love to make DIY Gatorade Ice cubes. Make ice cubes and suck on them! Cooling soothing electrolytes and they keep you from dehydrating too.

Ice cream 🍨 or an ice cream float is cool and soothing on sore throat! This is no time to diet. Indulge!

You know even if you get the flu shot it does not prevent you from getting a severe cold and more.

I’m just glad it’s over for me and I’m starting to feel like myself again. Something is going around. Get ready! Take care of yourself. I hope my blog post helps.

LOVE you Lavender!

Lavender is an aromatic delight that relaxes and soothes us just right!

To some people it may be an acquired taste OR scent. I so love sipping lavender tea. Lathering up with lavender scented body lotion and enjoy it’s relaxing properties in a lavender bubble bath.

One of my fave’s I featured on TV in Las Vegas this week was a steamy water facial bath.

  • First wash your face.
  • Next boil some water.
  • Then pour the water into a glass bowl or you may leave it on the stove with the burner off and get ready to clean your pores with this steamy aromatic treat. I like to add a couple of drops of lavender essential and sprinkle in a few lavender buds.I favor the brand  Aura Cacia for my essential oil treat.
  • Next, place a lightweight tea towel over your head and bend over allowing the steam to reach your face and the towel will help the steam not to escape. Do this for at least 5 to 10 minutes for it to help open your pores and release the dead skin build up and clogged pores. It’s like a workout for your pores!
  • After you’ve sweat it out and enjoyed the steamy facial…rinse your face with a gentle complexion bar soap or cleanser.
  • Pat dry and place a smidge of moisturizer on your face. And a dash of eye gel.
  • Go to bed with a refreshed face and skin. Wake up with happier skin.

  • LAVENDER SACHET IMG_2421.jpg

Another all time treat I like to D.I.Y. is to make bedtime sachets to tuck inside my pillow cases. The one above is for Sweet Dreams and a good nights sleep. Add a drop of essential oil i lavender will make it even more aromatic.

If relaxing dried lavender isn’t your thing, try this D.I.Y. by preparing a mix of dried mini rose buds or fresh rose petals. Add a drop of rose essential oil to the sachet. The rose scent is soothing to the spirit and have you resting in no time.

I adore playing in my beauty kitchen and my bathroom which I affectionately call my beauty lab/apothecary. My husband LOVES being my tester and my clients in my beauty cottage love when I share my beauty secrets and potions with them too.

I hope you’ll take time to smell and maybe take a bite of the edible flowers and whip up something with lavender too!

Beauty From the Garden & More!

Flowers and herbs….Can make you feel better and healthier! I am trying to enjoy them even more before the winter chill and frost arrive in Florida. I love fresh mint, rosemary and other herbs growing outside my door.

Surround yourself with them to make you happy!

  • Eat parsley to freshen up your breath!
  • Make a cup of cozy hot tea with fresh peppermint or mint!
  • Bathe in bubbles and the scent of some fresh rose petals to stress less.
  • Place eucalyptus branches in your shower and steam your way to breathing better from allergies.
  • Add edible flowers to a salad. and make your day more beautiful and even better.
  • Massage your shoulders gently with grape seed oil and a smooth and soothing river rock from your garden supply.
  • Can’t get to sleep…use Chamomile to help you get those ZZZ’S.

Enjoy the beauty of these simple things I promise they can make your heart sing.

Say hello to a happier new you!

Secrets to a Good Night’s sleep!

photo sleeping toolsInsomnia and stress are two issues women are concerned about an bring up to me about in my beauty business. I take their needs very serious and wanted to post about getting your beauty sleep and perhaps help you.

Here is a healthy pattern to consider nightly: Before you got to sleep or bed…Have a warm cup of calming Holy Basil or chamomile tea.

If you’re no into tea…a warm glass of milk will do. Take a warm bath with cheap Epsom salts. They are AMAZING and relax your muscles and detoxify too.I know what you’re thinking you’re not a bath person! BUT when you can’t sleep and have nights of insomnia this is worth a try. THEY WORK.

Shut off ANY electronics…Only got to bed with your sweetie or yourself not a phone, tablet and more.

Place a few drops of Aura Cacia lavender essential oil into a spray bottle with some distilled or spring water.Spray your room with this relaxing spray.

OR try Serious Insomnia by Jimm Harrison Aromatherapy on a cotton pad and take a sniff, This aromatherapy oil takes you from frazzled and stress to feeling fabulous.

A white noise machine is another useful tool. Turn it on for the ocean, birds tweeting on a spring day and more.My husband loves ours.

If you can’t go to sleep and do get up…go ahead and get up and go into another room and watch TV or read a book or magazine until you feel sleepy. OR do what I love to do and unclutter your head by writing things down in a notebook.

NEVER go to sleep angry with your spouse or children…you will NOT sleep well. Kiss & make up.

Day 30 to beautiful skin …wrap up!

I hope you enjoyed my 30 days to more beautiful skin.
EMBRACE your face. You can’t stop the clock on aging but you can learn to take better care of yourself~

Sunscreen is your BFF… not just your BFF. Apply it daily. Face, NECK, hands and body. Even cloudy days can give you a tan or sunburn.

Do not go to sleep with your makeup on. It MUST be removed. I love the Clarisonic Mia. Don’t fall for the false advertising and hope in a jar. A small dream sonic machine that is today’s washcloth. Using it day and night it helps shed tired old skin, flaky skin, cleans pores, makes pores smaller and helps control the oil. It is my fav’ beauty secret. I even have my husband using it!

Get a skin care check up
and see if you are using the right products for your face. As we age so, it must change. Your pores expand as we mature and gunk accumulates in them. The older you get the more you will have. Keep to a four step easy regime. Antioxidants rich are your skins secret weapons…
Cleanse, Tone, Treat and Protect…twice a day.

Facial serums, retinols and more rock and are all the rage. However, a little moisturizer goes a long way too. YOU DON’T have to use very expensive creams.
FYI even oily skins need moisture~ Hydrate the lips too!

FOR YOUR EYES ONLY…face cream is not an eye cream or gel. Eye creams or gels are made for the eye area. Apply one day and night. Counter clock wise around the eyes and on the eyelid too.

Watch what you eat. Yes, you must eat and nourish your body but do not drive yourself crazy with that word diet. You know that saying, “Live a little” it is OK in moderation for a decadent sweet treat.

As we mature, cell turnover slows and dead skin builds up. Whisk them away like a broom with a facemask or at home natural fruit mask. I love the sweet and amazing pineapple. Mash it up and place on your face for a fruit enzyme lift. Your skin will feel amazing. (Do not use if you are allergic to this fruit)

As we age, our skin gets more sensitive…find what works for you and stick with it too. There are so many products out there. You will find it.

Don’t like your legs but love the no hose fashion?
TRY Liquid Nylons OR jojoba…your legs will look amazing.

Keep Hydrated
and drink, drink, drink…WATER that is. It really helps your body, mind and skin.

Beauty sleep is very important do not skimp. Sprinkle lavender baby powder on your pillows and relax as if you were the fields of Province, France.

Give yourself a ME day…recharge, renew and revitalize.

I hope I have helped you to think about your pretty face and take time to pamper yourself too!Love Yourself!

Day 25 to beautiful skin

Become a Sleeping Beauty by sleeping. Guys or Gals we need a good night’s sleep.

Research shows if you TRY going to bed 15 minutes earlier, for four nights straight you’ll establish a pattern or routine where you get an extra hour of dark circle-zapping and not look so tired rest.
It is necessary to get at least eight hours of sleep.

Say no to coffee of caffeine drinks after 3:00pm and avoid exercise at least three hours before bedtime.

Get some zzzzzzzzzzzzz”s….IF you can’t fall asleep. Get out of bed and make some chamomile hot tea or drink a glass of milk. They really work~most of the time.
I travel lots and am often in different time zones. So, I know these drinks help. If they don’t do it for you try a short warm epsom salt and lavender bath before you go to bed.

SWEET DREAMS!
