Don’t be a Dirty Girl!

I SEE many women’s cosmetic bags and makeup cases and I cringe at the sight of their makeup brushes and sponges!!!

I CAN’T believe how dirty they allow them to get.
All kinds of germs and more are doing the salsa on their brushes and sponges.
So bad I am afraid to touch them! Girls don’t realize how this affects the way your skin looks and your makeup too! Dirty brushes can even cause breakouts on your face too. Here is my recipe for cleaning your makeup brushes at home.

How To Clean your Makeup Brushes & Sponges:

Wet the brush 3/4 of the way at the metal collar.

Place a few drops of liquid soap in the palm of your hand. Gently rub the brush for at least 20 seconds .

Rinse brush thoroughly in lukewarm water until all the dirty watery residue comes out.

Add a few sprays of vodka diluted with distilled water (not tap) from a spray bottle. Press out the residue until all the residue comes out.Vodka can make your makeup brushes dry faster or you can use diluted rubbing alcohol.

Dry brushes on a paper towel at the edge of your counter over night.

Fresh as a daisy!

PS

YES, you can use a brush cleaner made with chemicals but this is just as good and on the cheap and chic.
Or you can use makeup brush cleaning wipes. Please do not use baby butt wipes. They are NOT meant for your beautiful makeup brushes and on your face they are meant for baby’s bottoms. They can fill your brush with things that will cause allergic reactions or make them greasy.

Grapefruit and Green Tea Toner

>grapefruit-photo3-l

As you may know I love to cook up things in my kitchen that aren’t just food for my family.
These recipes also include beauty for your face. Here is a recipe to make a cool and refreshing skin toner for your face.I also love to use it on a flat cotton pad down my neck and decolette.

1/4 cup witch hazel
1/4 cup fresh grapefruit juice
1/4 cup of fresh brewed organic green tea (room temperature)

Get all your ingredients together and line them up.Next brew some fresh green tea. Let tea cool on counter and fill the ingredients into a spray bottle.(4 oz. size does quite nicely).
*This toner can safely be kept in the frig for up to eight weeks may be less.
I LOVE to chill my toner in the frig or you may keep on your bathroom shelf.
Spray this D.I.Y. toner on a flat cotton pad and use all over your face.Exclude the eye area.

Vitamin C is the beauty ingredient from the grapefruit juice. It brightens and tones the skin.
Witch hazel is a mild astringent that removes excess oil, dirt and makeup. It also makes your pores appear smaller.

I love to cook and whip up beauty in my kitchen…you will too!

Take some time one day and try my recipes and have some fun too!
