I discovered something while shaving …

There is an unwelcome guest on my big toe that gets me where I want to go. It is small the size of a straight pin head. It is black and under the nail. I am worried as it came out of nowhere. Moving from up North to sunny Florida ๐ŸŒž ๐ŸŒด for my husband has it’s rewards but it’s got a downside too. You need to wear a sunscreen here even more. And liberally apply it too. Cause the sun keeps following you… even on a cloudy day.

So since its skin cancer awareness month and as a beauty and skin care professional I had to share! I feel no pain. Nothing is red or inflamed looking but it IS there a few weeks now.

I happen to have a skin care check up booked for next week. So the timing could be more perfect. I’ll let you know how it goes.

I am kinda of scared. I have had squamous cell cancer. The last two times I pointed out brown spots on their face and body to my clients … they were skin cancer and they are no longer with us.

Have you got an appointment booked with your dermatologist for YOUR annual skin care checkup? ๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€โš•๏ธ ๐Ÿ‘จโ€โš•๏ธ

No sunscreen makes me want to scream!

Sunscreen beach 2014 photo

When you head out to enjoy the long 4th of July holiday weekend.

Don’t forget this…SUNSCREEN!

Whether on the beach, sunbathing, walking, playing golf, active in sports, bike riding, surfing,or on a boat. You need to be protected. And by the way just because you have a medium to dark complexion doesn’t mean you don’t need it.
ALL faces, bodies and skin types can get BURNED. Even BABIES need protection!!!

Now don’t get me wrong, you can spend time outdoors and escape for a beautiful walk on the beach. However, you’ve gotta protect your skin and your health! Don’t you?

I LOVVVVVE the way the sun kisses my face daily. I love spending time in the sun.But everything in healthy moderation and the right protection.I am a skin professional who simply wants to HELP you be sun smart.

My sister was diagnosed with Squamous cell skin cancer, my other sister was diagnosed with Melanoma and they don’t even spend time in the sun. They sunbathed just a little when they were teens. They never used a tanning bed and since they live so far from a beach they don’t spend any time at the beach or outdoors except to go in and out of their house door or car. Now,after their diagnosis they stay completely out of the sun and use sunscreen.

Skin cancer is on the rise.
It should be no surprise! MOST people are not skin smart these days.
Don’t be one of the not so pretty or fatal statistics.
Protect yourself!
LOVE that skin and body you’re in.
You’ll be glad you did.

What is SPF?

photo.JPG SUNSCREEN

SPF stands for sun protection factor and is a measure of the sunscreen’s ability to prevent UV rays from damaging the skin.

It takes 10 minutes for your skin to turn red when you are out in the sun, with SPF50 you can stay out in the sun 50 times longer before you begin to burn.Isn’t that amazing?

Don’t FRY NOW and PAY LATER!

What is a UV RAY? I know it sounds confusing but here is an easy answer.ย “UV” stands for ultraviolet rays. These invisible rays are a part of the energy that comes from the sun and can damage the skin, causing melanoma and other types of skin cancer.

UVA RAYS

Cause lasting skin damage, skin aging,& skin cancer.

UVB

Cause sunburns, sun damage and skin cancer.

I love a walk on the beach and had my days in the sun BUT… Take it from me I’ve had skin cancer.Protect Your skin!
