Wrinkles, sun spots and more!

Did you know research shows that our cars … not just a day at the beach 🏖 are causing cases of skin cancer, wrinkles, sunspots and more?

And it appears our side windows are the culprit too .

So if you DRIVE your car around town to work, carpool and more… the LEFT side of your face is getting older than your right!

And cloudy rainy days like we’re having for weeks now in Florida are also a problem.

If you don’t want to age your skin faster. Wear sunscreen even into the fall and winter too.

Sunscreen protects your face and body!
Before you head out the door…

You know what to do! Male or female. No matter what skin color you are too! Apply a shot glass of sunscreen. Face, neck and body.

I love ❤️ sunshine 🌞 but I also want to be sun smart. You need to take care of your skin too.

Hi Handsome!

I get it. Guys want to look good too!

Today on River City Live TV in sunny Florida I am sharing a few answers to viewers skincare and lifestyle questions.

You can watch a video clip and read MORE on http://www.News4Jax.com after they post it on their site after the show. Click River City Live.

But here are some highlights from my beauty report:

Guys especially bearded ones are looking for a rescue for razor bumps on the face and neck. I found a great new product to help with that. It is washable and reusable.

They are called the Dermasuri’s Face & Neck Exfoliator for Bearded Men. This mitt helps prevent ingrown hairs and razor bumps.

Both of these mitts are made with a unique and gentle fabric texture to wash and exfoliate the face. All you need is hot water and this and you’re on your way to better looking skin!

Healthy skin is so in!

The other is their Deep Exfoliating Mitt Face Scrub. You may use daily or a few times a week.

Got acne? I’d go for a washcloth and a gentle face cleanser.

Do I really need a sunscreen? I work indoors and do not spend a lot of time outdoors. Just running errands or taking a quick walk in the neighborhood gives you sun. The sun is always on! Rain or shine.

Yes, everyone needs a sunscreen to shield themselves from the harmful sun 🌞 rays!

Rain or shine or shine it is always on!

Vacay or mini travel tips you need!

Who doesn’t love to travel?

I have always loved to travel. I got the “travel bug” when I lived in the tri-state area. I always heard the sound of airplanes. Manhattan has a lot of tourists arriving and landing and departing! JFK airport has many global flights too!

It is a beautiful sight and as I grew up I loved that sound of the airplanes more and more.

So happy to be traveling again! It’s been a long time by one and a half years for me. How about you?

Here are a few of my personal tips I have cultivated through the years and now with the pandemic not over what to expect.

Choosing a window seat is lovely but can ruin your skin over time. SUN SHINE 🌞 at sunrise, afternoon or sunset is damaging to the skin over time. By the way, I love the window too. And if you pee a lot you need to make sure you choose an aisle seat to make it easy for you to get in and out!

Don’t forget your sunscreen. Even under face masks the sun can get you! Apply sunscreen to your hands (especially the tops) and don’t forget your neck too!

Stay hydrated I can’t say it enough. BEFORE you leave your house, at airport and on your flight keep the water coming. Skip the caffeine especially if you’re anxious about flying it will only make you even more jittery.

Please note:

Airport and other places you go water 💧 fountains are covered and off limits due to Covid19 and refill water stations are closed off too. So if you’re used to bringing your own water or beverage container bottle with you. You will not be able to fill it with H2O.

Pack disinfecting wipes too! For each of you traveling. You will need to double check and clean your surroundings. The airplanes are very clean but you can ever be too careful or clean. On my Delta flights they hand you a disinfecting wipe packet when you get on board.

Mask 😷 up!

I like to sprinkle some essential oil on my disposable mask or cloth mask with lips 👄depending on my mood. Most times I use lavender oil and I love ❤️ the Aura Cacia brand. It’s great quality and simply the best!

You MUST wear your face mask and keep your nose 👃 covered at the airport and on the plane ride and while switching planes. They are very strict to keep everyone safe.

Pack a chamomile tea bag in your tote or your handbag.

Bigelow Tea Co makes an awesome one with stress relieving chamomile and calming lavender.sometimes when you order tea there isn’t any chamomile tea available. So order a cup of hot water and take the tea bag (for another time) they are serving and just use the water 💦 and make a cup of chamomile tea.

Travel with your favorite snacks. YOUR comfort food. Mine are bananas, apples, tangerines and anything crunchy, M&M chocolate candies or Hershey’s chocolate 🍫 or and HARD candies or gum.

These will not only comfort you they hydrate your throat which can get dry while flying with a mask on especially.

Another calming treat is to pack a CBD tincture or CBD gummies to balance your mood if you’d like. They really come in handy. I love Martha Stewart’s collection of edibles.

I hope these tips bring comfort to you and help you on your next flight too.

Hello,Sunshine!

TIME to get outdoors without our face masks where possible and enjoy some sun.

Photo by Min An on Pexels.com

This month is Skin Cancer Awareness Month so just don’t forget to apply a sunscreen when you’re ready to go out and start your day.

In Florida where I live the sun is already calling Floridians and tourists out the door. 🏖 Beaches, parks, the woods, playgrounds they can’t resist the 🌞 and shed some clothes.

Unfortunately what I also see are girls, guys and children with sunburned lobster hued skin. Ouch! It is pretty bad and painful to see.

Just remember wearing an SPF will not prevent you from getting some color you just will be more protected and not burn. As a skin cancer survivor I know what I’m talking about. I’ve been there!

So I hope you’ll enjoy spending more time outdoors to explore. But just protect that wonderful skin you’re in!

Tips for getting that…Kiss of Summer Look!

Today on TV I am sharing some skin care secrets on ways to prep your face and body for a gorgeous tan or safe faux tan.

You can catch the video link later this morning once it is up on http://www.news4jax.com on the one and only Channel 4 in sunny Jacksonville Florida. The Morning Show.

1.Prep your skin with an exfoliant product for a flawless smoother tan. They work wonders and kiss your dull tired skin “Goodbye!” I am crazy about Cure Natural Aqua gel, Fake Bakes Exfoliating Wipes and I also love and old school Creamy Honey and Almond scrub. You decide what works for you. They all work well.

2.Hydrate the skin with a moisturizer.

3.Check out the latest trends in self tanning.

Tanning Drops (Yes, it’s a thing!) by Farmhouse Fresh goods called Bronze Fox.

Tan Towel a towelette that you wiper on the tan.

Flawless Self Tan liquid by Fake Bake. Fake Bake even has a body mate microfiber band with handles to apply your self-tanner evenly and with ease. ALL streak free …no bad scent. They even make a self-tanner for the face. Guys you’ll love to use these too.

.

4.Powder Bronzer like Fake Bake is a multi-purpose beauty product. I like to use it as an all over face color to fake a tan,as a blush or as an eye shadow or eyeliner when used with a brush. Dip your clean lip brush in it and you can even make a lipstick in a pinch by adding a clear lip balm over it on your lips.

5. In or out of the sun practice safe sun with a sunscreen daily. No matter what your coloring is… especially living in sunny Florida. Sunscreen is a must.

I love to spend time in the sun. Really I do. But now I only take a walk on the beach for some Vitamin C/Sea. As a skin cancer survivor I KNOW and learned the hard way.

Be sun smart,Fake Bake!

Don’t want to age fast?

No matter what your age… The two quickest ways to age your skin are not washing your face before you go to sleep and going to bed with your makeup on! Can you guess what the other is?  We’ll get back to that shortly.

Not washing your face day & night and removing ALL your makeup is so important for happy healthy looking skin. Your face needs to be clean BEFORE you go to sleep every single night. So, get to it if you want to have amazing skin.

Another reason the skin ages faster is by not wearing sunscreen daily. Even when it isn’t sunny 🌞 outside. I know what you’re thinking … I don’t need it much really. Or just need to use it in the summer a little. I was a late sunscreen bloomer! Living up north we only had two real months to enjoy in the sun! But eventually I grew a bit older and wiser. I realized I needed to be sun smart and added sunscreen to my daily beauty regime.

I’m not trying to lecture you I’m simply trying to help you.

So, if you want to look your best longer… wash your face nightly and add sunscreen in your life! 24/7 and 365 days a year.

You’ll thank me one day.

Skin Care Alert!!!

DERMATOLOGY IMG_1534.jpg

I saw my dermatologist for a tiny spot on the side of my nose.I had waited almost a  month to see her as she could not see me sooner. The spot was red and came out of nowhere. I was really scared as I did not want cancer on my nose or anywhere for that matter. I have had so many clients lately who have had skin cancer on their face and it was so bad reconstructive surgery was necessary. So sad, painful and expensive too.

When I finally got in for my appointment she examined me from head to toe. When she got to my nose and I watched her look strategically on my nose with a little unit with light. She gave me the news! I was on pins and needles!

Th condition I have is not rare. It isn’t cancer it according to her is a tiny scratch on my skin from OVER scrubbbing or exfoliating. In my quest for healthy looking clean skin I scratched my skin in the process. OH HAPPY DAY. I flew out of her office with wings on.

LESSON learned? Ladies be careful don’t be so rough with your skin! Don’t over scrub, exfoliate, buff and more. Be gentle with the skin on your face and body.

Be in tune with your body and skin.

Develop a relationship with a dermatologist. You don’t want to wait until you have a problem. You want to have someone you can count on and call on.I get checkups every six months after having had skin cancer. A board certified dermatologist can see you for blemishes, sun spots, moles and serious conditions like pre-cancer and skin cancer.Get to the root pof the problem before it get worse or hopeless.

Manicure MUST have!

My biggest beauty secret is to ALWAYS wear sunscreen! It is the best way to age less and protect your skin. It is NEVER too late to start using sunscreen. Not JUST for your face but your hands and body too.

But do you use it when you go for a mani & pedi?

I recently featured on TV ManiGlovz a set of awesome gloves for your hands! They are created by a woman and MADE for us to use when getting a gel or basic manicure. Made in the USA too!

They protect the top of our hands which show our age beside the eye area. The reason they are used is from the possible damage of the light systems they use when getting manicure. Something we don’t think twice about. But as a skin cancer survivor I simply had to enlighten and share this invention with you!

Featured in Allure magazine (our beauty bible)…And quite a unique creation. SAY NO to specks and brown spots on the tops of our hands. If you want to love, soften and protect your skin. So many other pretty styles to choose from.

You need to be all in and get a pair!

UV protection

One size fits most/stretchable

Retains shape

Machine wash cold/hang dry

Sun protection/while driving

Lightweight

My new go to…that I simply had to share with you!

Time to step into autumn’s new face!

It is that time of year when the seasons start to change and you start craving new colors in makeup! If you’re not you’re missing out on the fun. This autumn  it is really all about looking your best with whatever hues you choose to use. OVER slaying and over the top contouring and highlighting is out.

YOUR face doesn’t need that!

You simply need a few new pieces to add to your makeup wardrobe.

It doesn’t matter where you shop for them it only matters that you are able to  TEST DRIVE and play with a few choices to see how they look on you. Don’t be in a rush. Take a little time for yourself. It should be a fun process. The colors of the moment for your lips are BOLD rich colored lips,a soft brown lip,a touch of mauve and the classic red lipstick.

Black winged eyeliner still rules but so does a bold blue or other colored hue. And the black liner is graphic and artsy like in the application.

I like to buy KITS for the season. This way you have all you need at your fingertips especially when you travel. It also gives you a chance to experiment and play with more shades you may never have tried before.

It is also time to buy a new tube of sunscreen. Yes, even in winter needs sun protection. Even from the glare of the snow.

You might want to lighten up that foundation and or face powder to suit your lighter skin look.

You don’t want what I call ring around the face. Also now is the time to add a bit of moisture to your skin by adding a new serum, eye gel and or primer to make your makeup last longer.

So, it continues to be a hectic but fun new year. This week I am getting ready for a few guest speaking engagements I am doing. I’ll tell you all about them when I return.

In the meantime…

Go window shop and cruise your city to discover what’s out there in the beauty world waiting for you this fall!
