Recipe for Your Throat

BLOG throat recipe photoMade it back from New York! I worked,I shopped, I dined and conquered the days before the blizzard. On the return flight someone behind me on the plane kept on coughing (and did not cover her mouth) all two hours and 45 minutes of the flight.

Not sure what I have caught but since I am on TV today at 3:00 for my beauty and lifestyle segment on NBC 12’s The Chat…I need to help my voice.

As the weather goes up and down all over the country and a chill in the air can make us feel like bad and come down with a cold or sore throat… give this recipe a try.

Here is one of my personal recipes for a dry sore throat:

A teaspoon raw local honey

1/4 teaspoon of cinnamon powder

*A sprinkle of cayenne pepper

Take twice daily for three days. It is antiviral,anti-bacterial and anti-fungal.

Enjoy it as you wish!

I do this straight up on a spoon or my fave is to put it in hot water and sip like a cup of tea.

Works like a charm!

Stay tuned to my blog this weekend all about my adventures in beauty, fashion and food from NYC.

Skin Softening Winter Pedicure

I don’t know about you but my feet are taking a winter beating. In Florida this winter we are in and out of sandals and shoes with warm black tights. It has been a weather roller coaster here and across the map.

I LOVE these awesome socks! They can be your new BFF beauty addition.Zebra_BW_LRes.jpeg

Pamper your feet with these good for your feet treat!

You slip them on as the final step in the pedicure process,JUST BEFORE the nails are painted at your fav’ spa or nail salon.OR of course you can use them at home. They have many wonderful benefits.

Fresh pedicure and feet stay clean and cozy.

Toe nails dry without putting a full sock or tights on.

Body Moisturizers absorb better and your skin will soak the hydration in.

Calluses will in some cases the company says fade away unless you let them get out of control and don’t take care of your feet.

A skin care must for healing therapy of cracked dry skin.

Cozy cotton, luxe quality and machine washable.

I use them in the house wearing sandals and applied a body butter to my feet.

Or I have slept with them on and loved the results!

Cold Outside D.I.Y.!

Today I will share on TV on a talk show called The Chat a few magical things that are HOT in the world of nails!

Here is one of my EASY recipes you will enjoy over and over again for your hands and feet.

It is snowing in autumn? Your skin and nails are flaky, dry, tight and getting dehydrated by the minute even though winter is 33 days away!

Oil Beauty Bath

1/4 cup of olive or grape seed oil (I like to use Whole Foods 365 Value Brand)

Heat oil on low in saucepan for a minute to get a warm temperature NOT hot.
Pour into a small soup bowl or buy a nail soak bowl from a beauty supply.
Place your fingers into the warm lush oil for at least 8-10 minutes.
Push back your cuticles afterwards with an orange wood stick.
Your nails will look so much better.
Blot your hands of oil and enjoy the hydrating skin glow.

What do your lips say about you?

Lips say so much without saying a word!

Dry, soft, peeling, lined, crusty lips all are signs of something and are a clue to what may be going on with your health too. Keeping your lips healthy requires care on your part too.

Dry Lips may be a sign of weather like being in the hot sun or cold and frigid weather. A job that requires you to work outdoors, from blood pressure medicine or other medications. Or you can simply be thirsty.

Beauty FIX: Applying a lip balm or lip treatment conditioner can make a huge difference and will hydrate them and make them LOOK better too. In order for you to see results, you must do this day and night. Stay hydrated drink plenty of water.

Peeling lips can be caused by the outer elements like the weather. Also today’s new formula die-hard lipsticks can cause dry peeling, flaky lips.
*If this happens to you switch to another brand lipstick that works better for the skin on your lips. If this continues, stop using the product that dries out your lips. Unfortunately, you cannot always have it all long lasting lipstick and soft lips.

Beauty FIX: Apply a lip exfoliator on your lips. It usually comes in a lipstick tube form or you can try to make your own.

Lined lips can be a sign of a smoker or sunbather. Sometimes it is caused from your outdoor job or your fave sport.
.

Beauty FIX: Use a lip conditioner with vitamin E, C or shea butter to nourish the skin tissue and lines around the lips.
Also, apply moisturizer and or sunscreen on the skin around your lips. Doing this WILL make your skin look and feel better.
Apply a lip balm or lipstick with sunscreen and it will work wonders if you add them to your beauty regime day and night.

Celebrities and models use an old time apothecary secret I know you will love and it is called Rosebud Salve. This rose scented balm in a tin type jar makes your lips beautifully moist and hydrated. It also is great for chapped cheeks and to soften your cuticles.

Here are a couple of quick and cheap recipes you make at home!

D.I.Y Lip Exfoliating Treat:
2 crushed almonds (unsalted)
1 tablespoon of plain dry oatmeal
1/3 to ¼ cup of fresh water

Mix all of the above and make a creamy paste out of it.
Apply on clean lips.
Leave on five to ten minutes.
Rinse well with a lukewarm washcloth

Let your lips air dry and apply your favorite lip balm.
Your lips will love this!

My recipe for a D.I.Y. Lip Scrub

1 soup spoon of brown sugar
1/3 sunflower or almond oil

Mix the two together with a small bowl or mini glass dish.

Apply on clean lips with a baby’s toothbrush.
Rub back and forth gently!
Leave this on for at least five or ten minutes for it to do its magic.
Apply your favorite lip conditioner afterwards.

Pucker up, buttercup! Kissable, healthy looking and hydrated lips in minutes!

11 Days to more beautiful skin!

Even your eye area gets dry from colder weather, heat, outdoor sports or AC.
So, give them the attention they deserve.

I love to use an eye gel. It is a light, cool and feels refreshing.Lighter than a rich eye cream which can sag the skin around the eyes…especially when used with a heavy hand or application.
If you want results and hydrate your skin around the eyes…try an eye gel not a heavy cream.

Kiss your eye area with hydration day and night. Guys too!

Day 9 to beautiful skin!

BABY Lips…Who doesn’t love the way they look and feel to the touch. Babies are just so kissable!
Weather, heat,AC,outdoor sports and more can make your lips DRY DRY DRY. They can look awful and peel and crack. Licking your lips will only make it worse.

Try using a product called Kissy Lips or D.I.Y. with a brown sugar and honey lip scrub that you can make in a minutes in your kitchen. Place on clean dry lips and leave on 10 minutes. Brush gently with your finger or with a baby’s toothbrush. Next, rinse and enjoy. I do this treatment once a week in the winter.DRINK plenty of liquids and stay hydrated too.
Follow up with a hydrating lip conditioner or balm. Love your lips~
