Are your pores…

So big you can swim in them?

One of my clients told me her pores are so big you can swim in them. She has always had a love hate relationship with her skin…Large Pores!

She asked me what’s a simple DIY she can try for minimizing not eliminating (they don’t go away) them. Heres a trick I’ve used often. My husband calls me a “Witchy Woman” because I use this. I know he loves me but the teasing doesn’t stop!

Now I’ve got him using it on his face too.

Witch Hazel works wonders in more ways than one. I don’t find it smells fabulous and more medicinal but… it’s cheap and readily available at drug stores and more.

After you wash your face pour some witch hazel on a cotton round and swipe on your face. Stay away from the eyes and lips.

Concentrate on your T-Zone as well as areas you feel your pores are larger.

Use this on a regular basis and you will notice a reduction in your pores.

Of course there are face masks that you can do like egg whites and oatmeal to gently scrub but give good old fashioned witch hazel a try. The beauty benefits and results may just surprise you!

As you may know I love to cook up things in my kitchen that aren’t just food for my family.
These recipes also include beauty for your face. Here is a recipe to make a cool and refreshing skin toner for your face.I also love to use it on a flat cotton pad down my neck and decolette.

1/4 cup witch hazel
1/4 cup fresh grapefruit juice
1/4 cup of fresh brewed organic green tea (room temperature)

Get all your ingredients together and line them up.Next brew some fresh green tea. Let tea cool on counter and fill the ingredients into a spray bottle.(4 oz. size does quite nicely).
*This toner can safely be kept in the frig for up to eight weeks may be less.
I LOVE to chill my toner in the frig or you may keep on your bathroom shelf.
Spray this D.I.Y. toner on a flat cotton pad and use all over your face.Exclude the eye area.

Vitamin C is the beauty ingredient from the grapefruit juice. It brightens and tones the skin.
Witch hazel is a mild astringent that removes excess oil, dirt and makeup. It also makes your pores appear smaller.

I love to cook and whip up beauty in my kitchen…you will too!

Take some time one day and try my recipes and have some fun too!

Day 17 to beautiful skin!

4.0.1
Think you have acne?

It is a problem for many people. One of the main things for sure is chocolate and greasy foods don’t always cause acne nor make it worse. Keeping your face and hands clean. Keeping your hands off your face IS important! Change your pillowcase often.
My dermatologist warns a few zits are not acne! Besides genetics here are some other reasons you may develop acne.
Hormones, stress, bacteria, lack of sleep, your diet, food allergies, poor cell turnover, cosmetic related allergies and an over active sebaceous gland can cause acne flair ups.

D.I.Y Skin Toner for Blemished Skin

1/2 cup of fresh lemon juice
1 cup of water
2/3 cup of witch hazel

Mix all of the above together and use nighlty and play with it first to see how your skin reacts to it. Apply with cotton pad and stay away from eye area or lips. It will also brighten your complexion/skin.

*This recipe is from a client of mine who has acne and swears by this.I tried it… it feels refreshing! If you are allergic to any of the above please do not try this recipe.
If you have a noticeable strong case of acne or any skin concerns consult a dermatologist…Doctor knows best.

Day 10 to beautiful skin

Clogged pores or skin around your nose or chin look like a navel orange?

Perhaps now’s the time to give yourself a refreshing skin polish. This can be done with a 1/4 cup of cornmeal from your kitchen and some water to make a paste. Apply to your face approximately five minutes and work in circular motions with wet fingers. Gently! This will help to refine the pores.Next, rinse well with a wet luke warm washcloth. Then apply a skin freshener like astringent on a cotton pad and work all over the face staying away from your eyes and lips with it. Or try a product called Witch Hazel which is known to improve the appearance of larger pores but doesn’t smell so charming. But it works!
Try this monthly or twice a month and see how your pores will look better. This is one of many other things you can try but for now don’t bake muffins take care of your pores with cornmeal. Southern beauty secret I learned after moving from up north to the south.Enjoy Ya’ll!
