Did you happen to watch the Grammys?

I watched and enjoyed every minute of that well produced award show. In a world 🌎 full of chaos we all need a “break” from it. My mind was focused on the moments and eyes entertained. Music 🎶 is a beautiful thing!

Before the show started I watched the pre- show on E Entertainment and enjoyed the interviews. I was worried about Laverne Cox’s nipple which seemed like it was ready to give us a peek. But somehow it stayed put.

Now let’s talk about the fashion and the faces!

Here are my beauty and fashion thoughts from the Grammys show!

Miley Cyrus is a true chameleon! I love her longer styled like a combination of old Hollywood and new. Her dress was 🔥 fire!

Maluma looked classic yet sparkling in Dolce & Gabbana.

Janelle Monae looked stunning in metallic gold. One of my favorites!

I am not certain what was his name of the singer but I kinda liked the suit in the lime green hue. It was totally unexpected for a guy.

Taylor Swift… looked OK. The black Hollywood like gloves made the outfit. I was not wild about the white Schiaparelli gown.

Taylor’s lips were in her usual red lipstick 💄 hue. So predictable! While it is a classic I wish she punched up her lip color with some bold other hues.

The fashions of white, black and golden ⭐️ and silver hues … so glam and stunning!

But a trend that’s been trending awhile is what I call “Panty” evening gown or dresses. Why? Can’t we leave something to the imagination?

Oh and the breasts! While I love 💕 and appreciate mine. I don’t need to see theirs flopping out or playing peek-a-boo!

But the best part for me was seeing Celine Dion walking out on stage with her son. It was wonderful to see her and for the music industry to give her some ❤️ LOVE.

The makeup was impeccable and hair was on point too. Some must have had facials and other face treatments for a month before the show.

How about you? Who were your favorites?

All the Feels of Fall

Spice It Up …Fall has arrived even though we don’t feel it in Florida. The temperatures in the 90’s this week! Wow. Today on TV I shared these with our TV viewers on a lifestyle morning show on River City Live… on WJXT-4.

But it is going to feel like the chill of fall before we know it. Let’s get in the mood and spice your life up with something new. Perhaps something or some place you never tried before!

  • A great way to do this is with a new sweater or better yet buy a pair of cozy socks! Say goodbye to boring black, white or blue and color your world too! I just discovered this awesome brand called JOHN’S CRAZY SOCKS! So many sock styles to choose from for guys, gals and kids too. The fun socks I purchased are so ME with luscious lips all over them.

Check out …
Browse: www.johnscrazysocks.com Feel even better about your purchase knowing you are supporting a small business owner who just happens to be born with Down Syndrome.  His company donates a portion of your purchase to  Special Olympics. The holidays are coming. Great gift idea too.

Adding fall decorative touches in your home is nice. But how about adding some spice to your kitchen by trying out new and exotic spices like Vietnamese cinnamon and or French Lavender for your culinary adventures. I have had a party in my kitchen with these spices and herbs.

Love sipping coffee? Tea? Smoothies Or Hot Chocolate? Me too.

Bitty and Beau’s Coffee Shop is coming soon to San Marco in Jacksonville Fl. But you can also find this coffee shop around the country. The brainchild started by a mom Amy Wright who is co-owner and named the coffee shop after her two children Bitty & Beau who were born with Down Syndrome. Why not stop in when they open their doors here and enjoy a NEW place to sip your coffee and enjoy a delicious treat too. They employ amazing people with disabilities. Now that’s something to brag about! Guests love the vibe and coffee too!

Try a new autumn inspired self-care treat like Honey Heel glaze and or hand and body lotion like Honey Chai. Men love this scent and products too. Self care never smelled or felt so good!

A new lipstick can change your life! Really. The trending hues for fashion and lipstick are cinnamon and metallic and earthy colors. But still think about PINK to brighten up your face to go with the new fall fashions.

Let’s celebrate the beauty of fall 🍂 and all it has to offer us.

Diva or Not you need this!

I recently featured on TV a woman who was my model for a beauty and lifestyle segment I do here in sunny Florida! 🌴

River City Live on WJXT-4.

Honey, it’s so steamy and hot outside across the country but we can’t always be by an electric fan… Right?

So in comes this Diva!

The woman I am telling you about wears many hats and slays all day as a model,an emcee and all around DIVA. She is so charming and fun to be around. She creates the most amazing things. Diva Fans!

What is a Diva Fan you ask?

Makeeta says her fans are…”A stylish way to get attention, get a lil’ air in this summer heat or to keep cool if you’re having your own personal summer year round.”

Diva Fans I think are a one of a kind custom sensation. With the flick of the wrist, a true show-stopper when you walk into a party, cocktails, bedside or poolside.

The best part? They can be made with your own words, an organizations name, your business logo or for a special event or occasion. The fans come in a variety of colors as well! This fan is HUGE! Not your average small fan.

They start at $25.00 and you may reach the creator @makeetalemodel@ gmail.com

Another awesome part is they make the most awesome demanding sound when you flick it open. I never saw anything like it!

Or find her and direct message her on Facebook or Instagram @makeetalemodel

I think every month is a reason to shop 🛍any small sweet 📦 business!

Feel the love ❤️?

Support and spread some shopping love!

FYI

Did you know? This month is Black Business month. Give the girl some love! The perfect gift! 🎁 For yourself or someone else.

A Sky High Beauty

I received a beautiful gift!

A pair of shoes. But not just ordinary shoes but high heels. A super sexy pair of sky high beauties! The color in regal purple.

Did I mention they are by a designer? No NOT those infamous Christian Louboutin shoes with the lipstick 💄 red sole bottoms.

Now you may or may not know I’m not a designer label anything kinda girl. I buy and wear what I like the label means nothing to me. I do wear Diane Von Furstenberg, Halston, Gucci, and the ever cool designer Betsey 👄 Johnson to name a few.

But this pair is something else. They are by ESCADA. My first Escada fashion item! Do you own a pair of shoes or heels by Escada?

They stand mighty and glorious on a shelf looking at me.

Teasing me!

Taunting me with their beauty!

Daring me to put them on!

But the question is can I even WALK in them? That is the question!!!

Kicking up with glee kinda heels!

My Passion for all things fashion!

Aren’t these fabulous?

Did you know CHI haircare has footwear?

So exciting and these are a must have weather you do makeup or skin care or just a cute shoe junkie. A cozy flat that you can’t resist.

Upper velvet.

100% leather lining, leather cut

Handmade embroidery

Hand woven footwear and natural jute

Since you know by now I love lipstick 💄 and 💋 lips… thought you’d enjoy hearing about these shoes.

Hint! These flats are on SALE!

Back from an amazzzing trip to NYC…

My first time since the pandemic! WOW!

It has been too long!

It rained, it snowed and the sun finally shined. It was a crazy busy but fun time.

The International Beauty Show and the Esthetics Cosmetics and SPA Conference were great!

The class I taught went well.

The attendees of beauty pros and beauty business owners came from all over the world! I love meeting people from all over the 🌎 globe. So grateful to the smiling faces eager to learn in my classroom for Advanced Workshops.

The show floor bustled with happy 😊 shoppers! They were stocking up and exploring products and beauty supplies and equipment for their beauty practice or spa or salon business.

COVID put a kink in our lives and travel plans for work and play but it looks like New York is coming back! Slowly but surely.

This morning on TV 📺 on River City Live on WJXT-4 I will be kissing and telling what I saw on the streets of NYC and at the show. http://www.news4jax.com or http://www.rivercitylive.com

I’m trying to get caught up with work and haven’t even unpacked yet!

So please come back for more. In the meantime check out the video and more on the stations website. Also my video will be put up on YouTube.

Enjoy!

She is INVINCIBLE!

I found a few summer book reads you need to know about. Growing up and working in Manhattan I discovered the fabulous world of fashion. My two favorite fashion designers in New York were Norma Kamali and Diane Von Furstenberg. I saved $ and saved $ to buy their clothing and accessories!

Norma Kamali recently came out with a book that is a combination of women empowerment, words of wisdom, healthy living tips and beauty and skin care advice. I am still reading it but have learned a lot. As a designer I love this style tip she says “Dress the way YOU FEEL daily”. She’s especially sending a message to baby boomers and seniors. But her fashions and this book are for the younger crowd too.

One of the beauty recipes she shares is her favorite of mine too! She suggests you consider DRINKING your salad. Especially if you are on the run and in the midst of a hectic work day.

TRY making or buying this! A green drink of yumminess!

She also likes to do DIY recipes and use fresh beet juice with coconut oil to stain her lips 👄 with a tint of color. I love to do that too and have making this lip concoction for years.

Beet juice as a lip 👄stain. Yes, please!

Her book is pretty awesome especially for women and coming out of this pandemic. We need to recenter ourselves, focus on what matters and let go of what’s no longer important in our lives anymore.

Be YOU!

Love yourself at any age!

Be invincible!

Did I mention Norma Kamali is 75 years young?

If you love ❤️ all kinds of books! You’ll love this one!

Did you happen to watch the Oscars?

I did. I enjoy watching the Academy Awards. And this year was looking for a sense of normalcy.

My favorite of the night was the TOTAL package on actress Margot Robbie. The after Covid new look makeover, makeup, the gorgeous gown and more! Oh and that hair I wanted more, more and more! Those bangs and side fringe were so red hot gorgeous!

I loved ❤️ loved ❤️ loved Viola Davis’s look too. That dress fit her like a glove and was so sexxxxy!

What did you think? Who was your favorite look of the night?

Did you at least peek at the show or watch a pre-Oscar entertainment show?

The makeup, the fashion and more?

It certainly was different and more down to earth and one like we’ve never seen before. Wasn’t it?

The metallic hues, shades of red, white & black and sunshine yellow on Zendaya who glowed it it. Loved the sparkle and the glowing Royal blue on Glen Close.

Pink 💕 was certainly another attention getter even the men got in on that color with a chic hot pink suit.

Brad Pitt’s man bun (I hate that term) looked tres handsome to me. And his skin was tawny and I liked his body toned suit.

Most wore accessories that were simpler and MEN got in on the jewelry action. Chains and rings. And who knew we’d see Crocs footwear and the Oscars.

Frances McDormand always makes me sad. She’s won a lot if Oscars and is a good actress but her dark, long, drab choices of clothes make me blue!

I just wish she’d at least wear a lipstick 💄 and do something with her hair. and while I live in black and love and wear bold color clothing too. I just wish we could see her look more vibrant one day soon.

And as always I wish I was there to use some Asian powder to blot up their over the top facial glow. And retouch their lipsticks and add a touch of lip balm on the men. Dry, parched lips never look hot or good.

Your thoughts? Do tell.

I love them do you?

I have ALWAYS loved them since I was a pre-teen. I LOVE reading them, learning from them, growing from them!

Since I was a very shy girl who was very quiet and had a bit of a stutter especially in school with nun’s teaching me. Magazines (and books) became my friends as soon as I saw my first cover it was love ❤️ at first sight!

The fashion the beauty the thrill of turning the pages and discover what’s next.

l LOVE love, love, love magazines!

How about you?

But call me old school I prefer them in hard copy printed form. Not on a device. It’s just not quite the same.

Photo by Jess Bailey Designs on Pexels.com

I’m sad Oprah’s O magazine is no more.

But happy to hear that Drew Barrymore from that iconic fabulous movie E T and now the Andrew Barrymore Show is starting a magazine that will launch in June!

I have so enjoyed this talented little girl, turned mom, entrepreneur, show host and on the cover of a magazine from years back.

Drew Barrymore!

Doesn’t Drew look darling?

Do you have the same magazine addiction to? What’s your favorite?

STOP the insanity!

It’s time to hang around the house,go to the mail box or take a walk with a little color on your face, lips and nails!

I see in social media some people have NOT put on makeup or a lipstick in approaching a month! As a professional Make-Up artist and Skin Therapist I find this so sad!🙁

As I mentioned before my mantra is ” A woman without lipstick is like a day without sunshine” So, please pretty please at least put on some lipstick 💄 or at least a lipgloss 👄

I promise you’ll not only FEEL better. You’ll look better too.

Tomorrow is a new day if you didn’t do it today.

Take the time to get a little dolled up! WHY you say? For who? For YOU and those around you.

Because you need to! Perk yourself up! Brighten that complexion! Give those cheeks a pop of color!

If you don’t want to do any makeup at all and I haven’t convinced you enough on that go do something good for your hair.

If you don’t want to go all the way with foundation and more. At least put a tinted moisturizer or BB cream on. Add a little blush to your cheeks, put on little mascara and lipstick.

While you’re at it apply a nude or metallic hue to your nails. They don’t require a lot of work or precision to apply. Just swipe and you’re good to go!

These nail polish shades also don’t show chips as fast.

As for your hair...

Give yourself a hydrating treat by mixing tap water in a spray bottle with a bit of conditioner added.

Shake the two together.

Spritz on dry hair and rinse after 15 -20 minutes. Take a bath or shower and wash your hair. No need to condition your hair again.

Give a bit of the blow dryer and you’ll have shiny happy better looking brush and go hair. Even if you’re just going to your living room. 😁

I know we’re all restlesswe’re all in this together and need to keep our spirits UP and look our best waiting and staying home.
