Cool Yourself Off!

Baby it’s so HOT outside! And my COMPLEXION is not seeing perfection. My pores hate me and appear to be the size of swimming pools and my skin is pretty shiny in some areas and tight in others. How about you?

I have always LOVED doing a form of Cryotherapy since I was a little girl! Only the treatment had not come out yet and entered the beauty universe. Here’s how I did it. When it is hot like this I  take water fill an ice cube tray and freeze them. If you want to add fruit or flowers inside before you freeze them…go at it. It makes them prettier too!

Next your freshly clean face is ready for a cooooool delight.I apply an ice cube (I sort of warm up a few seconds in my hand so no freezer burn face) Roll around and go up and down. I do not do the eyelid. This icy treat will chill you down quick! If you are hot on the neck and breast area roll a fresh cube there too.Use until you are done with the cube or save to use another time in a bowl in the freezer.

Using  ice cubes will tighten your skin and pores, refresh your skin and cool you down. white floral ice cube

Follow this ice cube treat with a HYDRATING tall glass of water with fresh mint (spearmint or peppermint) and fresh lemon slices. The key here is not to drink it iced much or no ice at all.The digestive tract does not like REALLY ICED water or drinks. In order to detox your system from all the sweet drinks and coffee you had all week. TRY this room temperature way. In the winter we will try something else but this is great for our bodies especially nowadays in this summer season.Skip a plastic straw that’s what I do… however,I’ve discovered the beauty of paper straws and reusable straws.

The lemony with a hint of mint water is a nice refreshing way to drink water and I love to serve it to my husband, family and when company comes over. ENJOY!

Wanna feel …cool as a cucumber?

IMG_2658.jpgSo do I.

The temperatures are soaring across the country on my trip to Las Vegas a couple of weeks ago it was in the 100’s most days. In Florida we are so HUMID and in the 90’s. Los Angeles 112? It is a melting pot of hot. So, here is a way I like to keep cool with the cheapest vegetable around…the cucumber!

Did you know? It is composed of 95% water, but also contains, vitamins B1,B2,B3 and B12? hese vitamins help soothe the skin from any irritations, reduce swelling, and prevent water retention. It also contains ascorbic acid ,folic acid and polysaccharides (a hero in hydrating your skin) and has super powers.

Today it is going to be another hot one!!! So, I am going to make cut them up in a few small chunks and fill an ice cube tray with them and make “cuke cubes” my cool and refreshing version of ice cubes. I like to sprinkle a smidge of sea salt on top. Once frozen I like to pop one in a glass of seltzer water and or Perrier or Pellegrino water. So refreshing and when the ice cube melts enjoy that lovely cumber.

Yes, you can also enjoy them like a cracker alone. Or embelish with some yumminess on top. I also like to make those cool cucumber eye pads out of them simply by cutting a slice and lay one on each eye for at least 10 mins. and let it’s beauty benefits soak in and calm those tired peepers!

I also highly recommend doing a Cool Cucumber Facial!  All you need is to scoop out the inside pulp of the cucumber and place that on a freshly cleaned face with a fan brush or baby spatula. This is mask is  really an awesome feeling skin treat. I leave the mask on at least 15 minutes and lay down.

Cucumbers are not only great for a tray of crudites at your next party but great for sunburned skin, help plump your skin, tightens the pores, helps with elasticity of the skin that leads to skin sagging. It also balances the PH level of the skin and gently lightens thus brightens and gently exfoliates the skin.

This pulp mask on a clean face is a wonderful…NO chemical skin care! And FYI other skin therapists/estheticians like me use this mask on their clientele too.

So now you see you can enjoy the cucumber in your salad,in a drink and on your face and neck!

I LOVE AMERICA and the beauty of Blueberries!

Since I was a little girl, I have been making beauty potions. Now that I’m older and as a beauty professional, I love to do them even more.

Hot and steamy weather calls for this!
This is one of my summer favorite beauty recipes for amazing skin treatments not found in a jar but down the aisles of Whole Foods Market or a market wherever you may shop and live! Your skin will LOVE the benefits from these recipes. You can make this recipe for yourself, with your daughter, your mom or even your sweetie.

My husband loves these spa at home recipes too!

½ cup of fresh or frozen blueberries
½ cup of plain creamy Greek yogurt
¼ cup of organic local Honey if possible

Rinse the berries and place in a blender. Add the honey and yogurt.
Blend until creamy. Using your clean fingers or a stiff fan mask brush apply the mask to your face and neck.
Allow it to rest on your face at least 10 to 15 minutes. Remove with luke warm water and a
washcloth.

Please note: If you are allergic to the above obviously do not try the recipe. In addition, these are made from scratch so the shelf life is a few days in a tightly closed glass jar in the refrigerator. I suggest using them to the last drop and enjoy it all at once or in a couple of days.

I also like to use blueberries in a salad, over yogurt or freeze as ice cubes in lemonade.

Blueberries are like healthy candy for my body instead of a real candy bar. Honey is a natural moisturizer that locks in moisture. Your skin loves yogurt and all of the above are found in fabulous face and body creams sold on store shelves.

If you love to be healthy, eco-friendly, green and gorgeous…come back to my blog soon.

Happy 4th of July if you live in America!!!

If you don’t have a fab weekend and enjoy this recipe too.
