I love shopping šŸ› and eating atā€¦

At this wonderful placeā€¦ IKEA!

If youā€™re lucky enough to live near or have the store in your city! Lucky you and so are the prices too. Iā€™m a foodie so the foodie shopping from Scandinavia is fun to eat and explore too. I love to try new things!

You never know what youā€™ll discover! So many nooks, areas and places to look at and explore. So when the store asked me to do a workshop in Jacksonville Fl I had to say ā€œYes of courseā€

So this week Iā€™m spilling the tea šŸµ and sharing a few self-care recipes and you get to take it with you and enjoy them at home itā€™s a Make & Take ā€¦ DIY event. Still a few more seats left but youā€™ll need to register online.

Join meā€¦ itā€™s FREE!

February 7th,2024

1:00pm to 2:30pm

IKEA Jacksonville Flā€™s restaurant

Donā€™t worry we will start to wrap up around with a Q & A and get you on your way in time for car pool or to shop the store at 2:15.

Donā€™t even think about it!

Going to bed with ANY makeup on wether it be eye makeup, foundation or lipstick it is a ā€œNo Noā€. If you want pretty healthy looking skin keep it clean!

It isnā€™t good for your facial complexion your eye health even more! Donā€™t forget to remove ALL your makeup before you go to sleep at night. You donā€™t want zits or pink eye do you? Wash your face well.

I especially love ā¤ļø to do this on Sunday nightā€¦ I refresh my skin after a long week with a K Beauty (Korean Beauty) sheet mask. I love what they do for the skin! Now, leave the sheet mask infused with skincare goodness on my clean face for at least 15 minutes. Afterwards, I take the mask off and rub the remains on my neck and decollate.

*Donā€™t waste a drop!

No need to rinse your face.

Next, I apply an eye šŸ‘ gel or eye cream with my finger tips around my eye area.

I brush my teeth.

I then apply my TLC Vitamin E lip balm. šŸ‘„ it makes my lips feel so good.

I apply a hand lotion or cream. Ready for a good nights sleep.

Take care of your face you only get one in a lifetime!

Life is short!

This month I made a promise to myself. I want to make every single day count! I always have but now I treasure the days even more!

I am more grateful then ever to wake up and open my eyes. Ready to go and start a brand new day. This year I want to travel even more internationally. Thereā€™s so much out there in our world to see.

Life is short! I know it sounds cliche but itā€™s true. This week I saw on social media where more lives are being lost. Our world is so upside down! I read where an Olympian passed away he was only 29 years old! I saw on Instagram the tennis pro Christie Evert is on yet another round of chemotherapy for breast cancer. Reading that and seeing her photo in a hospital bed broke my heart as I have had the pleasure of making her up for the Womenā€™s Tennis Association, Lipton Tea and more.

So, please treasure good health & enjoy every day of your life too!

I want to get into baking bread on a regular basis instead of just buying store bought. I love the rustic look of these breads. Do you?

Iā€™m going to use my fine China, glassware and silverware in gold yes a gorgeous gold hue. Iā€™m not waiting for a special occasion! Everyday is SPECIAL!

I need to learn to say ā€œNoā€ more often and not always be a people pleaser.

I hope to grow more herbs šŸŒæ in my garden. Thereā€™s nothing like your own crop!

I will control my multi-tasking if I can. Or at least do it less.

Iā€™m going to eat more veggies if thatā€™s even possible cause I do love them so much. But I need more of them in my life.

Photo by Vanessa Loring on Pexels.com

Iā€™m going to spend more time walking and bike riding again. I used to walk to and eat my lunch in Central Park in NYC every work day. Oh and bike ride too. Once I moved to Florida I walked and rode my bike less as itā€™s so hot most of the time itā€™s not fun! I miss the four seasons.

How about you?

What do you want to do?

Make new friends?

Get out of the house more?

Feel the sunshine on your face!

Iā€™m going to keep buying myself flowers! You donā€™t need a man to buy them for you. Treat yourself!

Iā€™m going to give myself even more self-care ā€¦Self-care is health care.

Iā€™m going to add and try one new thing a month in this new year! Itā€™s fun and exciting.

My message here is you can start something new too. Never stop growing. Never stop learning. Never stop exploring.

Life and the world šŸŒ is waiting for you!

Make your feet Happy!

Trekking all over town for errands, gifts and stocking stuffers is exhausting. So, this calls for a little self-care.

Take time for a mini nap or at least prop up your feet on your favorite pillow.

Put in some of your favorite music.

Light and turn on a faux candle.

Make a pretty potion like this!

Hereā€™s what youā€™ll need for this DIY recipe for your feet.

Get in a relaxed state of mind. Think good thoughts.

Pour the ingredients above into a basin of water. Make sure itā€™s not too hot. Stir well.

Soak your feet at least 15 minutes.

Rinse with lukewarm water and a washcloth. Pat your skin with a towel.

Apply your favorite hand and body lotion or foot cream.

Put a pair of white cotton socks. Take a nap or youā€™re ready for bed.

Enjoy softer skin, relaxed feet and body and put a smile on your feet.

Citrus šŸŠ šŸ‹ Scrub Youā€™ll Love!

This is the recipe from Maru Godaā€™s book I promised and wanted to share with you. Perfect for we Floridians and for the citrus lover!

I hope you enjoy making it as much as I did. Also I hope youā€™ll TREAT yourself and get a copy of her book to add to your home library.

You will need:

  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 4 tablespoons coconut oil
  • 2 tablespoon olive oil
  • 6 drops tangerine essential oil
  • Lemon zest
  • Orange zest
  • Marigold flowers to decorate

Combine the oils. If the coconut oil is solid, heat it in a water bath until it melts. Add the essential oils and citrus zests, mix thoroughly until you have a smooth paste. Stir in the marigold flowers and store in a glass jar. Apply carefully using circular motions avoiding delicate areas and concentrating on rough areas.

Your skin will feel amazing and I love it in my hands and feet too!

Travel or home ā€¦Squeeze in Some ME Time!

Flight āœˆļø delays, cancelled flights and attitudes of crazy travelers. It is a hot mess! I just got back from a trip and I needed these too!

Hotel Room Beauty

So when you get some time when you reach your hotel or B&B destination take a little time for you!

If youā€™re jet-lagged or just plain old stressed I like to travel with a sachet filled with fresh lavender buds. I make them at home and put them in a baggie and pack in my luggage.

Or you can travel with your favorite essential oil and sprinkle it on a flat cotton pad and place the sachet or cotton pad in your hotel room pillowcase. Choose from lavender, rose, lemon all will make you feel amazing. Unless of course you donā€™t like one or more of these.

Remember A little goes a long way.

The scent is so relaxing and soothing. Some say a scent of lavender even makes them sleep better. Sweet Dreams!

Take a warm šŸ›€ bath give in to a calming bath for a change. I travel with Epsom salts which my massage therapist calls a natural muscle relaxant. No sleep aides required.

Or I travel with powdered milk in a small baggies. Sprinkle a cupful or small baggie full to luke warm water. Your skin will be silky and body relaxed.

Treat your face to a fabulous and refreshing sheet face mask!

Instead of traveling with a mask in a jar travel ā€œlighterā€ with a sheet mask. Korean beauties are all the rage, itā€™s superior quality and in 15 – 20 minutes gives your faces instant gratification.

Photo by Sora Shimazaki on Pexels.com

I like to travel with a piece of fruit šŸŽ and a small dark chocolate bar. Fruit like apples keep you regular especially when on the road. Both red or green apples šŸ both work.

They say chocolate šŸ« makes you feel good and it helps you sleep better.

Photo by Eva Elijas on Pexels.com

Travel with a few good lightweight books and or magazines. Go ā€œold schoolā€ instead of the blue illuminating light screen. Better for your eyes. Also will help you sleep!

I like to read self-help books, cookbooks, medical books, beauty books and more!

I hope you enjoy these few note-worthy tips to enjoy and do when you are on the road for work or PLAY!

Or for Labor Day weekend too!

Take ME time seriously. You need to take care of one and only YOU!

Got a bit of yogurt leftover?

I do and in the morning Iā€™m giving myself a facial treat! You can too!

All you need for this quick recipe idea is:

The last ā€œgood to the last dropā€ spoonful of yogurt and apply it to a clean face! Neck too if youā€™d like.

Leave it on approximately 15 minutes.

Rinse well. Follow with toner of your choice if youā€™d like.

Add moisturizer to your face and neck and youā€™re all set!

Just make sure the yogurt is plain and not sweetened. I prefer creamy Greek yogurt.

Yogurt contains lactic acid which soothes and gently exfoliates the skin. Diminishes the appearance of wrinkle and lines. It also helps to temporarily tighten the pores.

Your skin will love ā¤ļø it and itā€™s pretty benefits. Guys love it too! Good for all skin types.

Kiss šŸ’‹ dull looking dry skin goodbye!

Enjoy!

*Of course ā€¦ Unless youā€™re allergic to dairy or yogurt! Donā€™t use this recipe.

Recipe to ā€¦ Nail it!

My nails have been so brittle, thin and peel a bit. When I get a manicure & pedicure they look lovely BUT I wanted a bit more length again. Iā€™m not into press on nails, faux nails šŸ’… or gel nails but they do look good on most women.

So I had CVS monies. You know the money $ you earn from shopping there. I cruised down the dietary supplements and vitamin aisles. I picked up a bottle of the CVS Health brand for Hair, Skin & Nails. 80 assorted gummies in fruit flavors. Not too sweet and a serving is 2 a day.

Iā€™ve been on them a half a month and Iā€™m in love ā¤ļø!

My nails are stronger, longer, not peeling, healthier looking and Iā€™m happier too!

So to keep the self care rolling Iā€™m doing my bi-monthly at home nail treatment too!

All you need is:

1 1/2 Tbs. of Jojoba

3 drops of tea tree or lavender essential oil

Pour both in a small glass bowl. Both have anti-bacterial properties.

Essential Oils are your best friend!

Dip your hands in and rub around your cuticles and nails. Do not rinse hands afterwards.

Add your favorite hand lotion and enjoy the beauty potion!

Photo by Linda Prebreza on Pexels.com

Then I like to put on cotton gloves I only use for hand treatments. I leave on for 20 minutes or overnight is even better.

Your nails are hydrated and your cuticles will look so much better. You can do this treatment to your feet too. Just rub it in like above too. But do your nails, heels and soles of your feet too!

*If you need to add more Jojoba add it.

But if you are allergic or do not like one of the above oilsā€¦Please skip my tip!

I hope youā€™ll try my professional recommendation. Your nails, hair and nails will look better!

Honey You Need This!

Are you a person who only takes showers?

Think about switching it up and start something new this Spring.

How about a sweet bath?

All you need is a tub filled with water šŸ’§ and a bottle or jar of local honey. Scoop a 1/4 cup spoonful of fresh (I prefer local) honey.

You can use it for just skin softening honey or sprinkle in a handful of relaxing and detoxifying Epsom salts.

Oh the beauty of a honey šŸÆ bath!

Another thing you can do is add a smidge on your lips. Leave on 3-5 minutes and rinse. Your lips šŸ‘„ will be kissable and softer!

* If you happen to be allergic to bees and honey. Pass on this bath šŸ› and lip care recipe.

Otherwise enjoy the sweetness of honey! Maybe even sip a cup of tea to go with it all.

Do you like to DIY?

I am doing a Galentineā€™s Day (Valentineā€™s Day) Workshop at IKEA in sunny Jacksonville Florida šŸŒ“ only problem is itā€™s NOT so sunny. Itā€™s been storming and itā€™s 90% chance of rain ā˜”ļø today. I hope the ladies come out and play with me and not let rain get in the way.

So excited to do a Workshop at IKEA ā¤ļø

If youā€™re looking for a fun DIY gift šŸŽ I like to give as gifts ā€¦ youā€™re in luck. My workshop is all about self-care and made with love.

SPA in a Jar

Hereā€™s what you will need to make this gift:

ā¤ļø1 medium or large glass jar with a lid and a large neck so you can fill it. Decorative ribbon and other touches to embellish it. Greenery and faux or even fresh cut flowers work too. This gives it a natural and pretty touch.

ā¤ļøThings you might want to use to fill your very own SPA in Jar are:

A headband, washcloth or eco friendly washable facial rounds, sheet masks, eye gel masks.

ā¤ļø How about some bubble bath, epsom salts, shower gel, hand lotion, a body lotion and a luxurious soap and bath sponge.

ā¤ļø Crystals, incense, sage,Palo Santo or a mini book.

ā¤ļø A bottle of Prosecco, mini liquor, small beer can, (optional)

ā¤ļø A small box of candy. An apple šŸŽ as an apple a day keeps the doctor away.

Or you can create a mix of store bought and hand-made DIY recipes. Please note IF you are allergic to any of my recipe ingredients please do not try them.

Kiss Me Lip šŸ‘„ Polish

1 jar organic coconut oil

1 packet of sugar left in your purse from last coffee shop stop or 1/4 cup brown or white sugar. It all depends how many jars you want to make. Note: both sugars will work too.

Mix the two together with a spoon or spatula and place in a small microwave safe bowl. Warm the polish 5 seconds to melt a bit and stir again. Be careful. It will be hot. Let cool a bit.

Place mixture into a small glass or plastic jar of your choice. If you want a bigger batch double the recipe. Add a pretty lip stickers or custom label you make and itā€™s all set. Men and women love ā¤ļø thus recipe. Including my husband.

Kissable lips in minutes! This is a unisex recipe guys love it too!

ā¤ļø Chamomile Flower Facial Steam Bath

Chamomile dried flowers- a small handful will do.

A pot of water šŸ’¦

This recipe is so easy and so gratifying. Your skin will love you back by the way it looks and feels. A relaxing detox facial steam!

Place some dried chamomile flowers in a bag and give it to the person you are gifting to. Add instructions with it. All they do is warm water to a light boil. .

Place the flowers in the water. Place a small towel over your head like a tent. Do NOT put your face in the hot water. You are simply allowing the steam to RISE up to your face. Do this for 3 or 5 minutes. If you have high blood pressure or a skin condition like Rosacea or acne please do not use this facial steam recipe.

Rose šŸŒ¹ Eye Mask

Cooling cucumbers šŸ„’ are refreshing and certainly you can still use them. They work! However, I love this simple aromatic eye mask. Asian Royalty and in many other times in history used them to look younger and refresh their eyes. Did you ever really feel a petal from the rose? Itā€™s so soft and lovely to the touch. Itā€™s known for its skin softening and feel good properties.

Pick me up ā€¦ for the eyes.

1 fresh Rose rinsed please.

Rinse rose gently in water

Tear off one of the rose petals for an aromatic relaxing treat. They add a touch of moisture for your eye area.

Eyelid pillows are great but I love this nature based eye treatment.

Chill out & rest with a rose petal eye mask!

Laying down close the eyes. Place a rose šŸŒ¹ petal on each eyelid and rest the eyes. Listen to some relaxing music. Leave on your closed eyelids at least 6-10 minutes. Thatā€™s it!

I hope you enjoy these recipes! Please noteā€¦Store bought self-care products are great for your jar. However thereā€™s nothing like a handmade and homemade creation.

Made with LOVE. ā¤ļø

Oops! Forgot to post to my blog before I left. Update despite the rain I had an awesome crowd, workshop and morning at IKEA! Went crazy shopping in the stores food market. Had one of their awesome pretzels with their yummy dipping sauce and drove away smiling all day!

ā¤ļøLove that store.
